Filter by:The objectives of this proposed study are: 1) to evaluate feasibility and acceptability of a novel intervention, Regulation of Cues (ROC), and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and 2) to evaluate the efficacy of both treatments on reduction of binge eating and weight loss among 120 Veterans with subclinical or clinical Binge Eating Disorder (BED) with comorbid overweight/obesity (OW/OB).
The study seeks to evaluate the acceptability, feasibility, target engagement, and validity of an innovative smartphone application with ecological momentary interventions to augment cognitive behavioral therapy for bulimia nervosa.
Physical exercise helps patients with eating disorders by improving their physical fitness, quality of life and other specific variables of this pathology. Pilates has a beneficial effect both physically and mentally on healthy population and other diseases. In patients with eating disorder, Pilates will improve psychic aspects and their physical condition. For all these reasons, the affectation of psychological symptoms will decrease and the quality of life will improve.
1. Study Objectives To evaluate changes in general symptomatology in patients undergoing the day hospital eating disorders program at North York General Hospital and compare symptoms between treatment groups (motivation-oriented vs. psychoeducation-oriented). To determine treatment satisfaction ratings in patients undergoing the day hospital program and compare satisfaction between treatment groups. To evaluate the acceptability of patient-centered and motivation-oriented eating disorder treatment among patients. 2. Study Hypotheses: Participants who receive motivation-oriented adjunctive treatment will experience larger improvements in eating disorder symptomatology 6 weeks into treatment, 10-12 weeks into treatment, and at discharge (compared to admission), and as compared to those receiving psychoeducation-oriented adjunctive treatment. Patients who receive motivation-oriented adjunctive treatment will report higher satisfaction with treatment, stronger feelings of motivation to recover, and will be more likely to complete the program as compared to those receiving psychoeducation-oriented adjunctive treatment.
The purpose of this research is to conduct a randomized controlled trial (RCT) assessing the impact of CBT on neural responses to binge eating stimuli.
Do the current eating disorder treatments, i.e., Family-based Treatment (FBT) and Enhanced Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT-E), offered at the Center for the Treatment of Eating Disorders (CTED) demonstrate effectiveness? Specifically, which type of treatment is most effective for which diagnoses? Participants with Anorexia Nervosa (AN), Bulimia Nervosa (BN), Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED), or Unspecified Feeding or Eating Disorder (UFED) in this study will self select one of the two treatment groups, FBT or CBT-E. Additionally, does Family-based Treatment (FBT) modified for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) and Family-based Treatment (FBT) combined with the Unified Protocol (UP) for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders (FBT+UP for ARFID) demonstrate effectiveness for patients with an Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) diagnosis?
Mother's milk does not come in contact with the oropharyngeal pouch of preterm infants during gavage feeding. We hypothesized that stimulation of the oropharyngeal pouch using small amount of the mother's milk 5 minutes before initiation of regular gavage feeding will increase the level of GIT hormones.
