Adoptive Cellular Therapy and Radiation Therapy After Surgery in Treating Patients With Esophageal Cancer

Cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells show cytolytic activity against tumor. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining Radiation therapy with adoptive cellular therapy after surgery may be more effective than uses radiation therapy alone in treating esophageal cancer.

Prehabilitation for Esophageal Resection Surgery

Consenting patients scheduled for esophageal resection surgery will be randomized to receive standard nutrition counseling (including nutritional supplements as needed) or standard nutrition counseling and exercise 4 weeks before surgery and 8 weeks after surgery. It is hypothesized that, compared with the group receiving nutrition alone, the addition of physical exercise to nutrition starting before surgery and continuing for 8 weeks after surgery will have a significantly greater impact on functional walking capacity during the prehabilitation period and during the postoperative period, and on the incidence of postoperative pulmonary complications.

Study of Sacituzumab Govitecan-hziy (IMMU-132) in Adults With Epithelial Cancer

The primary objective in Phase I is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of sacituzumab govitecan-hziy (SG) as a single agent administered in 21-day treatment cycles in previously treated participants with advanced epithelial cancer. In Phase II, the primary objective is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of sacituzumab govitecan-hziy administered in 21-day treatment cycles at a dose selected in Phase I. Tumor types in the study will include: cervical, colorectal, endometrial, ovarian, esophageal, gastric adenocarcinoma, glioblastoma multiforme, head and neck cancers- squamous cell, hepatocellular, prostate, non-small-cell lung cancer, pancreatic, renal cell, small-cell lung cancer, non-triple negative breast cancer (non-TNBC), triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and metastatic urothelial cancer (mUC).

Cardiac Biomarker Study in Esophageal Cancer Patients Treated With Chemotherapy and Radiation

The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if the radiation that you will receive for esophageal cancer may cause the heart to create more proteins called cardiac biomarkers. When cardiac biomarkers are above normal levels, there may be heart damage. The relationship between cardiac biomarkers and radiation therapy has not been well studied. Learning more about this relationship may lead to better ways to check the heart during radiation therapy and predict heart problems.

Mithramycin for Lung, Esophagus, and Other Chest Cancers

Background: - Mithramycin is a drug that was first tested as a cancer therapy in the 1960s. It acted against some forms of cancer, but was never accepted as a treatment. Research suggests that it may be useful against some cancers of the chest, such as lung and esophageal cancer or mesothelioma. Researchers want to see if mithramycin can be used to treat these types of cancer. Objectives: - To see if mithramycin is safe and effective against different chest cancers. Eligibility: - Individuals at least 18 years of age who have lung, esophagus, pleura, or mediastinum cancers. Design: - Participants will be screened with a physical exam and medical history. Blood and urine samples will be collected. Imaging studies and tumor tissue samples will be used to monitor the cancer before treatment. - Participants will receive mithramycin every day for 7 days, followed by 7 days without treatment. Each 14-day round of treatment is called a cycle. - Treatment will be monitored with frequent blood tests and imaging studies. - Participants will continue to take the drug for as long as the side effects are not severe and the tumor responds to treatment.

A Survivorship Care Plan for Gynaecological Cancer Patients

After treatment women surviving gynaecological cancer may experience lateeffects and longterm challenges specific to their disease and treatment resulting in functional deficits and a reduction in societal integration (Yabroff et al., 2004, Yadav, 2007). The available research on best models of posttreatment rehabilitation support for women posttreatment for gynaecological cancer is limited. The primary objective of this study is to determine if there is any additional benefit, over usual rehabilitation care, of additional rehabilitation appointments to develop a survivorship care plan on cancer specific health related quality of life. Secondary objectives are to determine any additional benefit to general selfefficacy, generic health related quality of life or social and health economics for patients who have completed treatment for stage I or II gynaecological cancer. Also to explore the patient's perspectives of the intervention. The study will be open to patients attending the outpatient gynaecological clinics of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust having recently completed treatment for Stage I or II gynaecological cancer. They will report that they have experienced a physical or psychosocial need resulting from the disease or its treatment; be aged over 18 years and be willing and able to articulate their needs. The study will last for six months for each participant. It will involve completing questionnaires and attending two extra rehabilitation appointments to develop a survivorship care plan at the hospital may also include attending for an interview about being involved in the study for those randomised to the intervention group
