Filter by:The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of gefapixant, in improving symptoms of cough-induced stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in adult female participants with refractory or unexplained chronic cough. The primary hypothesis is that gefapixant is superior to placebo in reducing the frequency of cough-induced SUI episodes over 12 weeks.
Our study, retrospectively evaluate the characteristics of and the risk factors for the occurrence of nocturnal enuresis in epileptic children kept on valproate monotherapy. Epileptic children with the age ranged 5 up to 15 years who were started and kept up on valproate monotherapy. In this study, a child determined to have nocturnal enuresis based on the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fourth edition: "an involuntary voiding of urine during sleep, with a severity of at least twice a week, in children aged 5 years or older, in the absence of congenital or acquired defects of the nervous system."
Urinary incontinence (UI) is defined as involuntary urinary incontinence. In women with COPD, chronic coughing can often lead to UI. In this patient group, incontinence may be related to functional impairment, concomitant diseases and medications used. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of urinary incontinence in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and the factors that may be associated with urinary incontinence. The study included individuals who applied to the Pulmonary Diseases Policlinic of SANKO University Sani Konukoğlu Practice and Research Hospital and followed up with the diagnosis of COPD. The age, sex, height, weight, education level, smoking, exercise habits, fluid intake, medications and accompanying diseases such as heart disease, hypertension and diabetes will be recorded. Any prolapse or surgery will be questioned and noted. The disease severity will be determined by the forced expiratory volume (FEV1) value of the first second obtained from pulmonary function tests. Dyspnea score will also be determined by the Modified British Research Council (MBRC). Symptoms will be evaluated with the COPD Assessment Test (CAT). For urinary incontinence, the ICIQ-SF (International Urinary Incontinence Consultation) Questionnaire and Urinary Distress Inventory will be applied. In addition, the Leicester Cough Questionnaire will be used to assess your coughing functions, and the Activity-Self Assessment will be performed to determine the individual activity adequacy and the value of activities for individuals. All evaluations will be done only once with the help of the physiotherapist and asking the questions and recording the answers of the individual.
Prostate cancer (PCa) is a malignant tumor commonly diagnosed among men in the USA and Europe. About 81% of cases of prostate cancer are detected early on, which allows patients to receive effective treatment. High risk cancer patients may undergo radical prostatectomy (RP) which includes the removal of the entire prostate gland together with both seminal vesicles, prostatic urethra, and bilateral pelvic lymph nodes. Even though RP has been improved over decades, patients are still at risk of surgical and post-surgical complications. The most common complications include urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction. Pelvic floor muscle training is recognized as the physiotherapeutic modality for the treatment of urinary incontinence in men after radical prostatectomy. This method is recommended by the European Association of Urology. However, the literature analysis and systematic review carried out by our team prove that there are relatively few clinical trials with a well-developed research protocol assessing this form of therapy. In order to objectify the effects of therapy, we will assess both psychosocial aspects, as well as try to answer the question whether biochemical parameters can be a marker of pelvic floor muscles. In previous own research, we obtained promising results by examining biochemical parameters during pelvic floor muscle activity in women with stress urinary incontinence.

The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy of pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) on urinary incontinence reports in obese women undergoing a low calorie diet prior to bariatric surgery for obesity. The study will also assess and compare rates of adherence to treatments, pelvic floor muscle function and women´s self perception of their PFM function, and satisfaction with treatment.
This is a randomized blinded trial with non-probabilistic sampling for convenience. Our goal is to compare PFMT with intravaginal vibratory stimulus versus PFMT alone on the treatment of female urinary incontinence.
The bladder has a muscle that acts like a tap called the sphincter. Just like a tap, when pee is stored the sphincter muscle is closed and during peeing the sphincter opens. Sometimes the sphincter tap does not work properly and can cause problems. If the sphincter is weak there can be urine leak (incontinence). If the sphincter is too strong bladder might not empty properly. Children who require investigation of their urinary problems are usually assessed with non-invasive tests. Sometimes investigation is with a more invasive test videourodynamics or video cystometrogram (VCMG; this test requires the insertion of catheters into the bladder and rectum. This test provides only indirect information about sphincter function. It would be helpful to have a more direct test of the sphincter. It will allow better targeted treatments of sphincter problems which are often therapeutically challenging. Urethral pressure profile is a test used in adults to assess the sphincter. Although it has been described in children normal values have not been described. The research project is to define urethral pressure profile values in children and young people with normal, weak and overactive sphincters. Urethral pressure profile measurement is invasive as it requires the insertion of a special catheter. It will therefore be performed at the time of other invasive procedures eg VCMG or urology surgery under general anaesthetic. The study will be conducted at single site, which is a children's hospital. The study will be an observational case controlled study with three arms: controls, those with overactive sphincters and those with underactive sphincters. The study is intended to run over three years.
Aim of the study is to compare effect of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) and platelet-rich fibrin in management of stress urinary incontinence. It is a randomized prospective study. After assigning to one of the two groups, patients will undergo relevant treatment. First group will undergo 3 cycles of intravaginal HIFU treatment in 6-weeks interval. Second group will undergo 3 injections of platelet-rich fibrin under urethra. Before the treatment and after 2, 6 and 12 months after treatment is finished patients will be asked to fill questionaries concerning quality of life ICIQ-UI SF, ICIQ-LUTS, PISQ12, FSFI. Before each treatment cycle patients will be examined and asked to fill daily micturition plan.
