NCT ID: NCT05142059 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Charcot-Marie-Tooth Type 1A Neuropathy

Fall Risk Assessment in a Population of Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease Type 1A (CMT 1A) by Timed Up and Go Test

DeteCTCMT
Start date: September 3, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The main objective of this study is to explore the relationship between the onset of fall and the time taken to complete the Timed Up and Go test (TUG) in this CMT1A patient population. The investigators hypothesize that patients with balance disorders and therefore a risk of major fall will require a longer time to perform the Timed Up and Go test. In addition, it seems important to confirm that the severity of the disease has a negative impact on the frequency of balance disorders.

NCT ID: NCT05139316 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Glycogen Storage Disease Type IA

Start date: November 8, 2021
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The primary objectives of this study are to evaluate the efficacy of DTX401 to reduce or eliminate dependence on exogenous glucose replacement therapy to maintain euglycemia and to maintain or improve the quality of glucose control.

NCT ID: NCT05135234 Active, not recruiting - Sedentary Lifestyle Clinical Trials

Developing a Physiological Understanding of High Duration Activity

Start date: August 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

When muscles are not contracting, the local energy demand by muscle and use of specific fuels used to produce energy by oxidative metabolism are minimal. The time people spend sitting inactive (sedentary time) typically comprises more than half of the day. This sedentary behavior is associated with elevated risk of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, some cancers, and multiple conditions leading to poor aging. From a progressive series of experiments, the driving goal is to develop a physiological method for sustaining contractile activity via oxidative metabolism over more time than is possible by traditional exercise (hours, not minutes per day). Developing a physiological method suitable of prolonged muscular activity for ordinary people (who are often unfit) requires gaining fundamental insights about muscle biology and biomechanics. This also entails a careful appreciation of the ability to isolate specific muscles in the leg during controlled movements, such as the soleus muscle during isolated plantarflexion. This includes quantifying specific biological processes that are directly responsive to elevated skeletal muscle recruitment. The investigators will focus on movement that is safe and practical for ordinary people to do given their high amount of daily sitting time. This includes developing methods to optimally raise muscle contractile activity, in a way that is not limited by fatigue, and is feasible throughout as many minutes of the day as possible safely. This also requires development of methodologies to quantify specific muscular activity, rather than generalized body movement. There is a need to learn how much people can increase muscle metabolism by physical activity that is perceived to them as being light effort. It is important to learn if this impacts systemic metabolic processes under experimental conditions over a short term time span in order to avoid confounding influences of changes in body weight or other factors.

NCT ID: NCT05087537 Active, not recruiting - Pediatric Disorder Clinical Trials

Effect of Concomitant Bladder Neck Incision and Urethral Valve Ablation on Surgical Re-intervention Rate for Patients With Posterior Urethral Valve

Start date: October 1, 2021

Study type: Interventional

To determine the short-term effects of concurrent valve ablation and bladder neck incision on re-intervention rate for patients with posterior urethral valve.

NCT ID: NCT05049356 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Symptoms and Mechanisms of Child Psychiatric Disorders

Start date: September 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

In this study the investigators will examine psychiatric symptoms, central neurocognitive functions, parental stress and attachment styles, and biological factors that can give new knowledge about some of the mechanisms present in children referred to outpatient psychiatric clinics. A specific focus will be given to children suffering from severe irritability.

NCT ID: NCT05018312 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Social Anxiety Disorder

Modified Collaborative Assessment VS Standard Assessment on Readiness For Psychotherapy Among Patients With Anxiety

CO-ASSM-RCT
Start date: September 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The present study wish to compare the preliminarily effects and feasibility of Modified Collaborative Assessment (MCA) - a novel therapeutic approach to diagnostic assessment - with assessment-as-usual among patients with evasiveness as a core psychopathological feature in a randomised controlled study design.

NCT ID: NCT04958577 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Mental Health Conditions

Clinic Waiting Room-based Study of Swahili Language Artificial Intelligence-driven Symptom Assessments in Tanzanian Primary Health Care Facilities

AFYA
Start date: August 3, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study will evaluate the accuracy of the condition suggestions and urgency advice of the Swahili language Ada symptom assessment application (SAA), when symptoms are input by a lay-person user and a medical professional; these SAA results will then be compared to the condition suggestions and urgency advice of different tiers of doctors and a "gold standard" created by a panel.

NCT ID: NCT04937452 Active, not recruiting - Dementia Clinical Trials

Dopaminergic Therapy for Frontotemporal Dementia Patients

Start date: June 3, 2021
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is a phase IIa 24-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study. The study is designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Rotigotine (RTG) transdermal administration at the dosage of 4 mg or 6 mg per day versus Placebo (PLC) in newly diagnosed behavioural Frontotemporal Dementia (bvFTD) patients. 75 patients with a diagnosis of probable bvFTD will be randomly allocated to the 3 treatment arms (RTG 4mg/day, RTG 6mg/day or PLC), with 25 patients per group. Clinical and neurophysiological measurements and brain metabolism via FDG-PET will be collected before and after drug administration.

NCT ID: NCT04935593 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Strengthening Social, Emotional and Behavioral Resilience

Start date: September 7, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Behavioral and emotional disorders adversely affect overall health and well-being. Prevalence rates among children and adolescents classified with behavioral and emotional disorders or neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD), as recently redefined in ICD-11, have steadily increased over the past decade. In particular, prevalence rates among persons classified with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), the fastest rising behavioral and emotional disorder, have sharply risen over the past five years and is now estimated at 1 in 54. Shared symptoms within behavioral and emotional disorders include persistent social, emotional and behavioral functioning deficits that often impact self-management, social-awareness and metacognition competences, in addition to adulthood health and wellness life course transition management. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) stakeholder advocates have contributed meaningfully to the strengthening of behavioral and emotional health through interventions that focus primarily on physical and mental health outcomes of diagnosed individuals. However, focus on spiritual health outcomes and the at-risk population remain largely underutilized. Research that seeks to employ an integrative physical-mental-spiritual approach to strengthen social, emotional and behavioral resilience, of at-risk school age populations where social stigma and prohibitive treatment costs remain barriers to treatment is needed to help expand the field's understanding of the reciprocal relationship between spiritual health and emotional and behavioral outcomes. The RENEW (Resilience in Emotional and Behavioral Wellbeing) intervention will employ a multidisciplinary approach of social and emotional learning competency training, gamification principles and faith-centered values to strengthen social, behavioral and emotional resilience and competencies of those at risk for behavioral and emotional disorders, via a child-as co-researcher approach.
