NCT ID: NCT04649203 Completed - Clinical trials for Diabetic Neuropathies

Cytoflavin in the Treatment of Patients With Diabetic Polyneuropathy

CYLINDER
Start date: November 25, 2020
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

One of the most common complications of diabetes mellitus is diabetic polyneuropathy, which leads to disability and reduces quality of life. The toxic effects of high glucose concentrations contribute to the formation of ketoaldehyde free radicals, which, at an increased rate of their formation, leads to the development of oxidative stress in the nervous tissue. The planned study of the use of Cytoflavin® in diabetic polyneuropathy is substantiated by its antioxidant effect, which, by analogy with alpha-lipoic acid preparations, suggests its efficacy in the combined treatment of such patients. This clinical study is being conducted to assess the efficacy and safety of Cytoflavin® versus Placebo in diabetic polyneuropathy patients with type 2 diabetes. Study patients will receive study medication, 10 IV infusions followed by 75 days of oral intake. Clinical efficacy will be assessed by alleviation of symptoms (burning, numbness, pain and pricking), using the total symptoms score(TSS), after the completion of the treatment course.

NCT ID: NCT04627636 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

MTPr With Shockwave on Pain & Function of SHS in Stroke

Start date: October 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background: shoulder-hand syndrome is considered a significant reason for the reduction of upper limb functions after stroke. Purpose: To investigate the influence of Myofascial Trigger Points (MTrPs) release and shockwave therapy on pain and functions of the upper extremity in stroke patients with diabetic neuropathy.

NCT ID: NCT04620265 Completed - Clinical trials for Diabetic Polyneuropathy

Differential Air Pressure Technology for Treatment of Diabetic Elderly Patients

Start date: March 1, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Aging can be defined as sequential deterioration that occurs in elderly people including weakness, loss of mobility, decline of physical capabilities, increase susceptibility to disease and many other age-related physiological changes .The beginning of old age in most developed countries is about 60 or 65 years old. Diabetes mellitus (DM) and most commonly type 2 DM is one of the most common chronic non-communicable diseases affecting old people in Saudi Arabia which might be resulted from decline in physical activities. Polyneuropathy (PN) and its serious consequences represent the most common complication in diabetic mellitus which could contribute to an increased gait abnormality and risk of falling.

NCT ID: NCT04608890 Completed - Clinical trials for Diabetic Neuropathies

Eye-tracking-based Artificial Intelligence Detects Abnormalities of the Oculomotor System in Type 1 Diabetes

EyekonT1D
Start date: December 1, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Abnormalities of the oculomotor system may represent an early sign of diabetic neuropathy and are currently poorly studied. The investigators designed an eye-tracking-based test to evaluate the oculomotor function in patients with type 1 diabetes. The investigators used the SRLab -Tobii TX300 Eye tracker®, an eye-tracking device, coupled with a software that we developed to test abnormalities of the oculomotor system. The software consists in a series of screens divided in 5 classes of parameters (Resistance, Wideness, Pursuit, Velocity and Optokinetic Nystagmus [OKN]) to evaluate both smooth and saccadic movement in different directions. 40 healthy volunteers and 40 patients with long-standing type 1 diabetes will be enrolled to analyze the alterations in the oculomotor system and function.

NCT ID: NCT04593992 Completed - Clinical trials for Diabetic Polyneuropathy

HTEMS Treatment of Diabetic Polyneuropathy

HTEMS-RCT
Start date: October 20, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

So far, there are no sufficient pharmacologic therapies for the treatment of diabetic neuropathy. Therefore, we evaluated application of high-tone external muscle stimulation (HTEMS) compared to placebo treatment in patients with diabetic neuropathy.

NCT ID: NCT04543422 Completed - Clinical trials for Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Green Tea Extracts for Mild-to-moderate Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Start date: January 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

the present randomized placebo-controlled study aimed to evaluate the effect of green tea extract administration on the clinical and neurophysiological parameters in patients with mild-to-moderate diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

NCT ID: NCT04543032 Completed - Clinical trials for Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Sensorimotor Training and Gait in Diabetic Polyneuropathy

Start date: January 5, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is a common chronic complication of diabetes mellitus which results in high public health costs and has a huge impact on patients' quality of life. It leads to sensory and motor deficits, which often result in mobility-related dysfunction, and alterations in gait characteristics. These alternations in gait performance cause increase in the risk of fall, which has the strongest association with symptoms of depression in patients with diabetes. However, little is known about possible treatment strategies for improving gait ability and reduce risk of fall in patients with diabetic neuropathy. So, the purpose of this study will be to investigate the effect of sensorimotor training on ankle muscle strength, gait and quality of life in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. To determine if there is an effect for sensorimotor training on gait, ankle muscle strength and quality of life in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, the patient will be assessed before and after 6 weeks of treatment by measurement of ankle muscles strength using isokinetic dynamometer, measurement of different spatiotemporal gait parameters using gait trainer instrument , and assessment of quality of life of the patients using HRQL questionnaire (SF-36) before and after the treatment sessions.
