Filter by:Women who experience gestational diabetes are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus in the postpartum period-especially in low- and middle-income countries like India where the burden of diabetes is high and disproportionately affects women- but few receive the World Health Organization-recommended postpartum diabetes screening test. The investigators propose a cluster randomized clinical trial to determine whether community health worker-administered, home-based testing increases uptake of postpartum diabetes screening in the urban slums of Pune, India. The proposed study will provide an acceptable and scalable model that can be used to improve postpartum diabetes screening in other low-income settings, thereby improving early detection of diabetes in women and preventing morbidity and mortality in this high-risk population.
Older people with diabetes have a higher risk for cognitive impairment and for physical disability whether this may be effected by an improvement in glucose indices is unknown. Thus, the aim of this study is to assess the efficacy of AHCL in people with type 1 diabetes in improving glucose indices, quality of life and physical capacity indices
The goal of this feasibility trial is to test whether a novel insulin dosing calculator can improve blood glucose management for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus on hospital admission. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Whether using this calculator leads to no excessive hypoglycemia? - Whether using this calculator leads to a decrease of hyperglycemia? Participants will receive initial insulin doses by the calculator on hospital admission, and the rest of care will follow standard of care. Participants will be compared with patients in the UW observational cohort who received initial insulin doses by standard of care.
The goal of this [Efficacy of a traditional anti-diabetic herbal drug with on glycemic, inflammatory, and oxidative stress parameters] is [investigate the level of HOMA-estimated insulin resistance as the primary outcome before and after 40 days in intervention and placebo groups] in [patients with type 2 diabetes]. The secondary outcomes of this study are the assessment of oxidative stress, inflammation biomarkers, other glycemic indices, hematopoietic status and lipid profile between the two groups before and after the intervention. also The food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) and the physical activity questionnaire (FAQ) are used to evaluate the effect of potential confounding factors. This study has the code of ethics IR.KMU.REC.1402.291 from Kerman University of Medical Sciences and this drug has the number 12/14484 from Iran Food and Drug Administration (IFDA).
This study aims to investigate whether a Cardio-Metabolic Clinic can protect the cardiovascular health of patients with both diabetes and cardiovascular disease. - At the Cardio-Metabolic Clinic, patients will receive a specialized and comprehensive care. This includes applying a systematic approach, considering their whole health based on the latest knowledge in the field, and administering aggressive treatment with heart protective medications. - The ProtecT-2-D trial will compare the effects of care at the Cardio-Metabolic Clinic to usual care to see if there are any differences in cardiovascular illness and death.
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of GRK2 inhibitor paroxetine on insulin resistance in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
The New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF) Research Institute is performing this research to accelerate diverse disease research using cells from the body (such as skin or blood cells) to make stem cells and other types of cells, conduct research on the samples, perform genetic testing, and store the samples for future use. Through this research, researchers hope to identify future treatments or even cures for the major diseases of our time.
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate a new way of helping adolescents with type 1 diabetes consistently use continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGM). Families who participate will be assigned by chance to one of two groups. One group will continue to see their Endocrinology provider who can give recommendations on ways to use CGM. The other group will be in our Type 1 Together program for 6 months. This will include: 1. Monthly meetings with a community health worker with expertise in type 1 diabetes self-management, 2. Access to CGM-specific educational resources hosted on a mobile app, and 3. Meeting at least monthly with a mentor family who will provide mentorship on using CGM consistently. The main questions the study aims to answer are: 1. Do families like the Type 1 Together program? 2. Do more families in the Type 1 Together program have better attitudes towards CGM, use CGM more consistently, and have lower HbA1c? 3. Does the Type 1 Together program reduce racial and ethnic differences in attitudes towards CGM, consistent use of CGM, and HbA1c?
The study will examine the effects of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program and yoga on stress level, quality of life and glycemic control in Youth with Type 1 diabetes.
This study compares the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of once-weekly GZR4 Injection versus once-daily insulin degludec in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in inadquete control on oral antidiabetic drug (OAD) therapy or OAD Therapy in combination with basal insulin.
