Filter by:Clinical single-blind randomized comparison with the overall objective of evaluating the clinical efficacy of the products Nutracort lotion and Nutracort cream in the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis on the face. Will be held clinical and perceived efficacy assessment and instrumental measurements. Each product will be applied at half face for 7 consecutive days and all applications will be monitored in the research site. 60 volunteers will be recruited. Evaluations will be held at the following times: T0 - before the initial application of the product; T1 - 24 hours after starting treatment, T2 - 48 hours after starting treatment, T3 - 72 hours after initiation of treatment, T4 - 96 hours after the start treatment, T7 - 7 days after initiation of treatment.
The aim of the study is to determine the efficacy and safety of topical application of LAS41003 in comparison to LAS189962 and LAS189961 in the treatment of superinfected eczema.
The investigators' primary objective is to identify common and rare mutations in the filaggrin gene in African American patients with a diagnosis of atopic dermatitis and ichthyosis vulgaris. Atopic dermatitis, or eczema, is a common, chronic, relapsing and remitting problem in many children and affects 10-20% of the pediatric population. Itch is a predominant feature of this disease and is quite disruptive to daily activities of life. In addition to itch, it is characterized by markedly dry skin, small red bumps that may have fluid. Ichthyosis vulgaris is characterized by extremely dry, scaly skin with a fine white scale and increased amounts of lines noted on the palms. Filaggrin is a protein that is essential for the skin to function properly as a barrier and found to be mutated in some European patients with ichthyosis vulgaris and atopic dermatitis. This association has not been looked at in the African American population. Genomic DNA (gDNA) will be purified from buccal swabs using commercially available kits and analyzed.
Objectives and perspective: 1. To estimate the prevalence of hand eczema in a cohort of health care workers and assess exposures in the hospital environment that can lead to hand eczema . To investigate the knowledge of skin protection among health care workers. 2. To classify subtypes of hand eczema, assess severity of hand eczema and quality of life in health care workers with hand eczema 3. To evaluate the effect of a combination of classification of hand eczema and individual work-related counseling in skin protective behavior. The overall perspective of the trial is to develop new strategies for prevention of occupational hand eczema in health care workers. Hypotheses: - Irritant contact dermatitis is more common than allergic contact dermatitis. - The combination of precise classification (subtyping of HE) and individual counseling will have a positive impact on the prognosis of hand eczema. - The positive impact on the prognosis of hand eczema will have a positive impact on quality of life (QoL). - The knowledge of protective behavior will increase. - Education in a skin care program will have a positive impact on skin protective behavior.
Topical corticosteroids are largely used in dermatology. The major problem related to their use is that the same mechanisms underlying their therapeutic effects (antiinflammatory and antiproliferative) may lead to adverse events. Conditions sensitive to corticosteroids require formulations with mild to moderate potency while high-potency corticosteroids era required in less responsive conditions. The aim of the present study is to compare the safety and efficacy of prednisolone acetate 0.5% cream (mild-potency non-fluoridated corticosteroid) versus betamethasone valerate 0.1% cream (high-potency fluoridated corticosteroid) in the treatment of mild to moderate cortisosensitive dermatosis (atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis). The study hypothesis is that 0.5% prednisolone cream will be as effective as 0.1% betamethasone cream and will be an alternative option to treat corticosensitive dermatosis in body areas where the use of fluoridated corticosteroids is contraindicated, such as the face.
The objective of the study is to examine whether 8 weeks intervention with probiotics influence the eczema in infants suffering from Atopic Dermatitis. Furthermore the influence of the immunologic status and the intestinal microflora, inflammation and permeability will be investigated.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics of 7 days treatment with LEO 29102 in adult patients with atopic dermatitis.
This study will look at how safe and effective, a novel agent, CT 327 cream is in treating patients with mild to moderate atopic dermatitis (AD). Patients will be treated twice daily for 14 days on specific lesions of AD and safety and symptoms of AD will be assessed throughout the treatment period.
This study is an evaluation of the role of topical dissolved oxygen to lessen visible signs of photodamage using a select regimen of topical dissolved oxygen containing cosmeceutical products. Evaluation of the overall skin tolerability of topical dissolved oxygen (safety) utilizing the regimen of products.
The purpose of this study is to determine if an asynchronous online model of teledermatology can achieve similar clinical outcomes as compared to conventional in-office care for the management of atopic dermatitis. The investigators also aim to determine the effects of this online care model on patient quality of life as well as patient and physician satisfaction. The investigators' hypotheses include the following: 1. Compared to in-person visits, the online care model will result in similar clinical improvement in atopic dermatitis disease severity. 2. Compared to in-person visits, the online care model will result in similar improvements in quality of life. 3. Providers and subjects in the online group will achieve a similar level of overall satisfaction as those in the in-person group.
