Knowledge, Attitude, And Practice In A Group Of Egyptian Dentists Towards Preventive Measures In Pediatric Dentistry: A Cross-Sectional Study

The study will include general dental practitioners or dental specialists from Police Academy Hospital and pediatric dentists from Pediatric dentistry department at Faculty of Dentistry Cairo University. A self‑administered questionnaire will be given to dentists by direct interviewing and they will be allowed to complete the questionnaire in Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University or Police Academy Hospital. The data will be based on a collection of responses to the 38 items in the questionnaire.

Iowa Fluoride Study/Iowa Bone Development Study

A cohort of newborns was recruited for the Iowa Fluoride Study from 1992-95 to assess the complex relationships among fluoride intakes, fluoride exposures, dental fluorosis, and dental caries. Detailed questionnaires were sent every 1.5-6 months concerning water sources, fluoride exposures, dietary intakes, etc. Standardized dental exams were conducted at ~ages 5, 9, 13, 17, and 23. At about age 5, participants were invited to join the offshoot Iowa Bone Development Study. Bone densitometry assessments were conducted at ages 5, 8, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, and 23. These included Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) of hip, lumbar spine, and whole body from age 5; peripheral Quantitative Computed Tomography (pQCT) of the radius and tibia from age 11; and Multi-Detector Computed Tomography (MDCT) of the tibia from age 19. Physical activity and other factors also were assessed longitudinally.

Survival of Endocrowns Made From Different Ceramics

Restoration of endodontically treated teeth requires a means to protect the cusps from the wedging forces of occlusion. When there is extensive loss of tooth structure, cuspal coverage is warranted. Usually this is in the form of indirect restoration. Traditionally, full coverage crowns have been used which would require further removal of sound tooth structure. Recently, adhesive alternatives have been introduced which allow for conservation of tooth structure. Different materials can be used for this purpose. The evidence on the long-term survival of these materials is scarce. This study aims to investigate the short and medium-long term survival rate of these prostheses.

Clinical Criteria for the Evaluation of Caries Lesions Around Restorations in Primary Teeth (CARDEC-03)

There is still great divergence in the aspects related to caries lesions around restorations. The methods and the systems used for the detection of secondary caries lesions have presented low validity. Also, the consequent treatment decisions of this kind of lesions have presented a lot of variation. However, the correct diagnosis of secondary caries may guarantee greater longevity to the restorative treatment, as well as oral health to the patients, reducing the cost and clinical time of the dentists. Therefore, the investigators aimed to perform this study to evaluate and compare two visual criteria for the evaluation of restorations in primary teeth in medium and long term outcomes for the patients, through a randomized clinical study. These criteria are the system proposed by the World Dental Federation (FDI) and the International Caries Classification and Management System - ICCMS.
