The Effectiveness of Chinese Medicine Nuan-gong-ye on Primary Dysmenorrhea

Primary dysmenorrhea is a common under-diagnosed complaint, with a prevalence of about 45-95% in women of childbearing age and about 10-25% in severe cases. Menstrual pain can be classified as primary or secondary. Primary menstrual pain is a crampy pain in the lower abdomen without any pelvic pathology, which usually occurs 6 to 12 months after the first menstruation. Primary menstrual pain is usually most severe on the first day of the menstrual cycle and lasts for 8 to 72 hours. The cause is still unknown, but studies suggest that it may be related to increased prostaglandins, which cause painful contractions of the uterus. The pain is often accompanied by other menstrual discomfort symptoms, including headache, breast tenderness, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea, and psychological anxiety, depression or irritability. In the case of secondary menstrual pain, there are clear pelvic pathologies, such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and pelvic inflammatory disease.

Stressors and Recovery Regulation on the Super-compensation Effect

Purpose: Investigating the effects of stressors and recovery regulation on the super-compensation effect of high-intensity intensive training (IT) in endurance athletes. Methods: This study will recruit 176 competitively trained endurance adult athletes. Participants will conduct a 7-week 3-stage experiment, including 3 weeks of regular training, 3 weeks of 130% progressive IT, and 1 week of 55% taper. Measurement will include training responses (performance and fatigue symptoms), stressors, recovery regulation, and mood state at baseline, during and after regular training, IT, and taper separately. According to the performance after taper, all participants will category into either the responder or non-responder of well-response to supercompensation effect. Statistic analysis: Independent t-test, Chi-squared test, and binary logistic regression will be used to compare the difference in training responses, stressors, recovery regulation, and mood state characteristics between responder and non-responder groups. P value sets at 0.15 for identifying the potential predictors. Logistic stepwise multiple regression will be used further to determine the significant predictors for the responders of well-response to the super-compensation among endurance athletes. P value sets at 0.05.

Posterior Tibia Nerve Neuroprolotherapy for Dysmenorrhea

The goal of this crossover study is to assessed the treatment efficacy of posterior tibia nerve neuroprolotherapy on dysmenorrhea. The primary outcome is the improvement of Visual Analogue Scale. The main question it aims to answer is: •Could the posterior tibial nerve neuroprolotherapy alleviate the pain of dysmenorrhea. Participants will be randomly allocated into two groups, Group-1 will receive neuroprolotherapy in the first 2 menstrual cycles followed by oral acetaminophen(500mg) for the subsequent 2 menstrual cycles. Group02 will received oral acetaminophen(500mg) in initial 2 menstrual cycles, followed by receiving neuroprolotherapy for the subsequent 2 menstrual cycles.

Focused Ultrasound for Drug-resistant Epilepsy

Focused ultrasound (FUS) has been shown to differentially lesion or modulate (excite and inhibit) brain circuit and neural activity across a broad range of acoustic stimulus parameters (intensity, duty cycle, pulse repetition frequency and pulse duration) for decades. From our previous study, FUS sonication may suppress the number of epileptic signal bursts observed in EEG recordings after the induction of acute epilepsy. The presence of the suppressive effect was found in terms of the number of epileptic EEG spikes from the analysis of the unfiltered and theta-band EEG activity, and further discontinue the seizure attacks. EEG activity has also been consistently reported to have a positive correlation with the level of epilepsy, and FUS-mediated reduction of epileptic EEG activity was most notably observed, no matter lesioning or modulating effects. The aims of this study are to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of FUS technology in epilepsy patients and to estimate the optimal parameters of focused ultrasound exposure that will be used in the case of epilepsy.

Applying Mobile Healthcare Education to Improve Cutaneous Self-care Capability

The goal of this clinical interventional study is to compare the efficacy of mobile healthcare education in two ways (game-based or text-based) to improve cutaneous self-care capability in cancer patients receiving EGFR-based target therapy. The main questions it aims to answer are: Impact of different mobile healthcare education ways on cutaneous self-care capability of patients Impact of different mobile healthcare education ways on learning motivation of patients towards cutaneous self-care knowledge and skills Participants will be randomly divided into two groups. Both groups will download a healthcare education application on their phone. One group will accept the education about the knowledge and self-care skills of cutaneous adverse drug reaction by playing game. In contrast, the other group will accept the same education content by reading text on the phone. Subjects will be asked to use the application at home for two weeks after giving consent to participate this study, and then completed questionnaire three times during study period. The timepoints of completing questionnaire are listed following: Baseline / pre-intervention test (after signing informed consent form, D1) First post-intervention test (after finishing intervention, D15) Second post-intervention test (D30) Researchers will compare game group and text group to see if game group has better performance on cutaneous self-care capability and learning motivation.

Due to the fact that most participants in past clinical trials on the Mediterranean diet were cognitively healthy individuals, and while the observed effects were significant, they were not particularly substantial, does the Mediterranean diet have similarly significant and more pronounced effects on both physical and cognitive functions in older adults with subjective cognitive decline (SCD)? 2. What is the mechanism behind the effects of the Mediterranean diet on physical or/and cognitive function? Is it through vascular protection or improvements in brain structure/brain network function? Research Objective: Conduct a cross-over randomized controlled trial to investigate the effects of a three-month Mediterranean diet on the physical and cognitive functions of older adults with subjective cognitive decline (SCD) in the community. Utilize brain MRI and circulatory biomarkers measurements to elucidate the underlying mechanisms.
