NCT ID: NCT04689438 Completed - Periodontitis Clinical Trials

GCF Levels of IL-1β and IL-6 in Gingivitis and Stage III-Grade C Periodontitis

Start date: October 8, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Periodontal diseases are chronic diseases that occur as a result of a violation of the balance between microbial dental plaque and the host response. Gingivitis is a disease characterized by inflammation of the gingiva that occurs in one or more areas without loss of attachments.1 in periodontitis, an inflammatory event that begins in the gingiva along with gingivitis spreads to the periodontal ligament, alveolar bone and soft tissues that support the tooth, causing the destruction of these structures.2 Cytokines are low molecular weight proteins that participate in the initial and active stages of inflammation and immunity. In periodontal disease pathogenesis, cytokine response has been reported to play a very critical role in determining disease progression.3 IL-1beta and IL-6 are key cytokines in chronic inflammatory diseases and have the potential to initiate bone loss and tissue destruction seen in periodontal disease.4the purpose of this study; it is to determine the degree of inflammation and periodontal destruction by determining the levels of IL-1beta and IL-6 cytokines in the gingival crevicular fluid of periodontal healthy and diseased individuals.

Methods: After obtaining written informed consent, 84 samples will be included in the study. For operating room employees who meet the criteria determined before and after the operation; mini-mental state examination, weight, heart rate, non-invasive blood pressure value, VAS score for headache, radiation exposure time on fluoroscopy device, Rad measurement with the help of personal dosimeter before and after surgery, and total time in the operating room will be recorded.

NCT ID: NCT04689334 Completed - Global Surgery Clinical Trials

General Surgery Residency Training in Low Income Countries

Start date: December 1, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

The general surgery residency program was initiated in 2013 between Istanbul Medeniyet University and Benadir University. A formal training program was established that covered 3-year theoretical and practical training that would form the structure of academic, clinical and technical criteria by evaluating all the requirements of the surgical residency training. A resident logbook was prepared to track exam results, practices, knowledge and skill status that the residents achieved in the training process. Candidates who graduated from medical school and were successful in the multiple-choice exam consisting of basic and clinical sciences were accepted to the program each year in different numbers according to the capacity. From the initiation, 16 surgeons -9 in 2016, 3 in 2017 and 4 in 2018- graduated from the program. This study was designed after the last resident group graduated and worked as an attending surgeon at least for a year.

NCT ID: NCT04689113 Completed - Clinical trials for Urinary Incontinence

The Effect of Program on Women's Urinary Incontinence Awareness and Health Beliefs

Start date: November 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background: The aim of this study is to determine the effect of "Incontinence Health Belief Development Program" on urinary incontinence awareness and health beliefs of women in premenopausal period. The research was conducted in a randomized controlled double-blind pretest-posttest control group experimental research design type. The data of the research were collected in Samsun / Atakum District Healthy Life Center and three Family Health Centers. The study was completed with 76 women in the experimental group and 77 women in the control group. The pre-test data of the study were collected using the sociodemographic characteristics information form , the Incontinence Awareness Scale (ISI), the "Health Belief Scale for Urinary Incontinence and Kegel Exercise" and the "Broome Pelvic Muscle Self-Efficacy Scale" for the experimental and control groups.A 5-week "Incontinence Health Belief Development Program" was applied to the experimental group. Posttests were applied to the experimental and control groups 3 months after the program. Descriptive statistics, paired t test, chi-square, Mann-Whitney U, Wilcoxon analysis were used in the analysis of the data. What does this paper contribute? *Urinary incontinence awareness, health belief on urinary incontinence and kegel exercise and pelvic muscle self-efficacy of women increased after the Incontinence Health Belief Development Program based on the health belief model.

NCT ID: NCT04688060 Completed - Fall Clinical Trials

Assosiations Between Fear of Fall, Functional Ambulation Category and Quality of Life in Stroke Survivors

Start date: November 1, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Stroke is one of the most common causes of acquired adult disability. The stroke survivors have lots of mobility difficulties such as poor standing, decreased walking speed, balance disturbances, and increased risk of falls (1). Falling is a major threat to stroke patients for physical injury. Fracture resulting from falling, could affect the rehabilitation potential and functional recovery (2,3). After a stroke, falls are one of the most common medical complications with a 73% incidence within the six months (4). In addition to physical components, psychological factors related falling include fear of falling(5). Fear of falling is defined as persisting concern regarding falling and associated with many negative physical and psychological factors (6,7). It not only affects a simple health concern, but also avoidance of activities and a loss of confidence (8). To determine the associating factors of fear of falling (FOF) and the correlations between FOF, functional ambulation category (FAC) and quality of life (QOL) on stroke patients.
