Decreased pulmonary function, peripheral muscle strength, and exercise capacity were reported in primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) in recent studies. We aimed to investigate the data conducted between 10 July 2015 and 10 January 2015 of pulmonary function, respiratory muscle strength, exercise capacity, physical fitness, and activities of daily living (ADL) in PCD and healthy counterparts retrospectively at the first stage of the study and the effects of inspiratory muscle training on pulmonary function, respiratory muscle strength, and exercise capacity in PCD patients with decreased inspiratory muscle strength from the database recorded between 10 July 2015 and 10 January 2015 retrospectively at the second stage of the study.

Several studies showed that diabetes mellitus is responsible for 30% of difficult laryngoscopy.Insulin and oral antidiabetic drugs are two main current medication prescribed for diabetes patients.Insulin is responsible for muscle hypertrophy and weigh gain.Oral antidiabetic drugs induces muscle atrophy. The aim of this study is to evaluate the differences in the difficult laryngoscopy as a general anesthetic component in patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) using either insulin or oral antidiabetic drug (OAD).

The Effect of Haptic Interactive Virtual Reality on Nasogastric Tube Practice Teaching

This research was carried out as a randomized controlled experimental study to evaluate the effects of haptic interactive virtual reality and computer-based simulation technologies on students' knowledge, skills, anxiety, satisfaction in learning and self-confidence in teaching nasogastric tube application. The research population consisted of students who enrolled in a foundation university nursing department and took the "Basic Principles and Practices in Nursing II" course in the Spring Semester of the 2020-2021 academic year, and the sample consisted of 90 students who met the inclusion criteria of the study. During nasogastric tube application, the Control Group (n=30) trained with the Standard Curriculum, Experimental Group 1 (n=30) trained with Haptic Interactive Virtual Reality Simulation Technology, and Experimental Group 2 (n=30) trained with Haptic Interactive Computer-Based Simulation. n=30) was performed. Research data were collected with "Structured Student Introduction Form", "Nasogastric Tube Application Skills Examination", "Nasogastric Tube Application Skill Checklist", "State-Trait Anxiety Inventory", "Student Satisfaction and Self-Confidence in Learning Scale". Appropriate statistical methods were used in the analysis of the data.

Oral Care Frequency in Mechanically Ventilated Patients

Many problems may develop in patients due to mechanical ventilation in intensive care units. These include ventilator-associated pneumonia, decreased cerebral perfusion, venous air embolism, sinus and eye infections, neuromuscular dysfunctions and skin sores may be seen in intensive care patients undergoing mechanical ventilation. If adequate oral hygiene is not provided in patients on mechanical ventilation support, dry mouth, halitosis, disruption of tissue integrity in and around the mouth, intraoral infections and periodontal diseases may occur. Most importantly, ventilator-associated pneumonia (VIP) may develop in patients dependent on mechanical ventilation due to deficient oral care. Chlorhexidine solution is widely used in oral care. However, there is a need for evidence about the frequency of oral care with which chlorhexidine solution on oral mucous membrane integrity in patients under mechanical ventilation support. Oral care frequency was not examined in these existing studies. Therefore, this study was planned to determine the effect of three different oral care frequencies on the integrity of the oral mucous membrane in patients connected to mechanical ventilators.

There are similar studies on chronic diseases in the literature, and it has been seen to make a positive contribution. Studies have shown that patient education includes only information, counseling or behavioral therapies, and does not necessarily turn into behavior change on its own. Which was developed on the basis of education and human behavior theories, According to The Theory of Planned Behavior it is thought that patients can cope with their illnes, manage their illnesses and show behavioral changes by adapting to the illness with the help of nursing counseling. The importance of patient follow-up has once again come to the fore when it comes to the problems that those with chronic diseases may experience during the pandemic process and the difficulties in finding solutions. Recently, training and follow-up are carried out with remote access in the management of many chronic diseases. Especially in chronic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, which affects all systems, the counseling service to be provided to the extent that behavior change can be achieved has become more important. In this direction, it is thought that it will be beneficial in the long term for patients to gain behavioral changes by telephone monitoring after education.
