TAP Block vs External Oblique Plane Block for Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy Surgery

Ultrasound (US) guidedTransversus Abdominis Plane Block (TAPB) is performed by injecting a local anesthetic into the plane between the internal oblique and transverse abdominis muscles and provides analgesia in the anterolateral walls of the abdomen after abdominal surgery. Ultrasound-guided TAPB has been commonly used for many years. US-guided External oblique intercostal block (EOIB) is a novel block performed by injection of local anesthetic between the external and internal oblique muscles at the level of 6th-8th ribs. This block provides abdominal analgesia between T6 and T10 levels. There are studies in the literature showing that it provides effective analgesia. However, there is no study comparing TAPB and EOIB yet. In this study, we aim to compare the effectiveness of US-guided TAPB and EOIB for postoperative analgesia management after laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery. Our primary aim is to compare patient recovery scores (QoR15 Turkish version), our secondary aim is to compare postoperative pain scores (24-hour NRS), postoperative rescue analgesic use (opioid/meperidine), and opioid-related side effects (allergic reaction, nausea, vomiting).

Transumbilical laparoscopic appendectomy (TULA) is increasingly favored in the treatment of appendicitis within the realm of minimally invasive surgical approaches. This procedure offers advantages such as superior cosmetic outcomes and reduced postoperative pain. However, like all surgical interventions, it carries the inherent risk of surgical site infections (SSI), which pose significant challenges to patient health and healthcare systems by escalating treatment costs, prolonging recovery, and increasing morbidity rates. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of the "glove finger method" in mitigating SSI risk in TULA. The rationale for this study is predicated on the hypothesis that the glove finger method could serve as a simple and cost-effective measure offering potential protection against SSIs. When compared to traditional methods, this technique may not only reduce surgical duration but also diminish the risk of SSIs, thereby potentially decreasing hospital stay durations. Furthermore, enhancing the understanding of factors contributing to the development of SSIs and developing effective strategies for their prevention can elevate patient care quality and alleviate the burden on healthcare systems.

Immersive Virtual Reality Exergaming Program in Adolescents Diagnosed With Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

The aim of the study is to investigate the effect of home-based exercise program versus personalized IVR exergame (Fit-XR) program on physical fitness, functional capacity and physical activity in adolescents with Juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Patients followed up by four tertiary pediatric rheumatology centers will be included in the project. Two different exercise programs will be applied to the patients by experienced physiotherapists. Fit-XR program will be 25-30 minutes a day and will be applied 2 days a week for 8 weeks under the supervision of a physiotherapist in the clinic. The total points obtained by the participants during the FiT-XR games will be recorded after each training session. In the second group, a personalized multicomponent (balance, strength, agility, endurance) home- based exercise program will be applied according to the physical fitness level of the children.

The research employs a pre-test post-test control group design with a randomized controlled semi-experimental approach to determine the impact of education provided for coping with premenstrual syndrome and Mandala activity on premenstrual symptoms. Research Hypotheses: H01: Mandala activity is not effective in reducing premenstrual symptoms. H02: Education provided for coping with premenstrual syndrome is not effective in reducing premenstrual symptoms. H13: Mandala activity is effective in reducing premenstrual symptoms. H14: Education provided for coping with premenstrual syndrome is effective in reducing premenstrual symptoms. H15: Mandala activity is more effective than education provided for coping with premenstrual syndrome in reducing premenstrual symptoms among students with PMS.
