NCT ID: NCT05702320 Recruiting - General Anesthesia Clinical Trials

Effect of Reflective Blanket on Undesirable Perioperative Hypothermia

Start date: February 14, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of using reflective blankets, which is a passive insulation product, on preventing UPH in patients scheduled for abdominal surgery under general anesthesia. It will also be evaluated whether the reflective blanket has an effect on the patients' thermal comfort and shivering levels. Inconsistent results have been reported in studies using reflective blankets. This inconsistency may be due to the fact that it was used at different stages of the perioperative process or that the body was not adequately isolated. In this study, we aimed to use the reflective blanket throughout the perioperative process and to isolate the patient's body as much as possible. Reflective blankets are inexpensive, practical to use and easy to store. With the positive results that can be obtained from this study, it can be used not only in operating rooms, but also in intensive care or other services where hypothermia is likely to occur. Within the scope of the study, a Reference group (warm air blower device), an Intervention group (reflective blanket) and a Control group (routine hospital procedure) will be established. The study was planned to be conducted with a total of 102 patients, with 34 patients in each group. In this study; patients' vital signs, coagulation tests, thermal comfort and shivering levels will be evaluated. Patients in the Reference and Intervention group will be warmed before the surgery (15 minutes), during the surgery, and until they are transferred from the post-anaesthetic care unit to the clinic. No heating process will be applied to the control group by the researcher. All patients transferred to the clinic will undergo the routine care procedure of the hospital.

NCT ID: NCT05701930 Recruiting - Life Quality Clinical Trials

The Effect of Education Provided With Pecha Kucha Method on Cancer Patients Receiving Chemotherapy on Symptom Management and Quality of Life

Start date: January 18, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Cancer; It is defined as a large group of diseases that can start in any organ or tissue of the body, occur with the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells, and occur when these abnormal cells go beyond their normal limits and spread to neighboring tissues and other organs. The leading goal of cancer treatment is to eradicate the cancer. Cancer treatments are divided into two basic groups as local and systemic.Systemic treatments include chemotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted molecular therapy, and immunotherapy. The use of drugs that slow down, control, stop and destroy cancer cells in the treatment are called chemotherapy, and the drugs used for this purpose are called chemotherapeutics (cytostatics) or antineoplastic drugs. Quality of life is personal well-being and is an expression of subjective satisfaction in different areas of life. This concept includes family, work life and socio-economic conditions. It includes the difference between the ideals, expectations and dreams of individuals and the reality, that is, the perception of satisfaction and well-being that the individual receives from his daily life. In the medical field, it is the expression of the individual's physical, emotional and social well-being. The symptoms that cancer patients encounter both in cancer and in the treatment process affect the quality of life of the patient and cause the treatment to be interrupted. Therefore, symptom management is very important in order not to hinder treatment and to stop the risk of morbidity and mortality. Most of the symptoms of advanced cancer patients can be managed with pharmacological or non-pharmacological methods, and this management is an expected skill for all clinicians who take care of patients with cancer. Pecha Kucha (PK), meaning "chat voice" or "chat" in Japanese, refers to a well-crafted, fast and concise presentation format. In a PK presentation, each presenter is only allowed to show 20 PowerPoint slides for 20 seconds each on a timer. In other words, the presenter has only 20 seconds to discuss each slide before the next slide appears, and the presentation time is limited to 6 minutes and 40 seconds. Ideas are explained visually with pictures and graphics, and there is little text on the slides.

NCT ID: NCT05701696 Recruiting - Fibromyalgia Clinical Trials

The Relationship Between Neuropathic Complaints and Central Sensitization in Fibromyalgia

Start date: January 16, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Fibromyalgia (FM) is the prototype of a group of diseases known as central sensitivity syndromes, whose relationship with pain sensitization is well defined. Central sensitization (CS) is also one of the mechanisms involved in the pathophysiology of neuropathic pain. Neuropathic pain, which is a common complaint in FM patients, is likely to be one of the clinical manifestations of central sensitization. Therefore, in this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between CS and neuropathic pain.

NCT ID: NCT05700357 Recruiting - Acute Pain Clinical Trials

Different Local Anesthetic Volumes for TPVB in Post-thoracotomy Analgesia

Start date: December 28, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Thoracotomy is one of the most painful operations known. Therefore, it causes severe acute pain. If pain is not controlled, it increases the frequency of postoperative pulmonary complications and postoperative morbidity. It can even cause chronic pain in the future. Thoracic epidural analgesia (TEA) is the gold standard method in the treatment of pain after thoracotomy. Thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) is known as the most effective method after TEA. The fact that TPVB has fewer side effects than TEA increases the use of TPVB. There is no consensus on the dose of analgesia in studies. In the literature, volumes between 20 ml and 30 ml are frequently used for TPVB in recent years. This study, it was aimed to compare the efficacy of 20 ml, 25 ml, and 30 ml volumes of TPVB with local anesthetic at the same concentration (0.25% bupivacaine) on postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing thoracotomy.

NCT ID: NCT05698355 Recruiting - Pelvic Pain Clinical Trials

Telerehabilitation in Chronic Pelvic Pain

CPP
Start date: January 16, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Objective: Physical therapists utilize telerehabilitation as the common term for telehealth applications. Many physiotherapists worked as telehealth providers during the coronavirus pandemic. The objective of the study will show the efficacy of Telerehabilitation-Based Physical Therapy (TBPT) on pain intensity and treatment satisfaction in patients with chronic pelvic pain. Method: This study is a prospective study of patients with chronic pelvic pain.42 participants will include the study. Patients who have any other distribution pattern of pelvic pain were equally considered for therapy. Women age between 18-50 years will be include. Their symptoms should be one of these follows such as chronic pain in pelvic region, hyperalgesia in vulva, and pain during sitting or intercourse. They will get diagnosed by a gynecologist who is a multidisciplinary team comprising and referred to a pelvic health physiotherapist. Prior to treatment patients will complete questionnaires and interview a pelvic health physiotherapist. Pain symptoms will be assessed with the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and The Pelvic Pain Impact Questionnaire (PPIQ) before and after treatment. Patient Global Impression of Improvement (PGI-I) for evaluating patient satisfaction after treatment. Women with chronic pelvic pain will be treated for 16 sessions (an hour for each session) in 8 weeks with the TBPT technique by the same pelvic health physiotherapist (AB). Patients will apply internal and external trigger point release therapy and self-massage techniques by themselves with Telerehabilitation-Based Physical Therapy.
