Investigation of Arm Swings Characteristics in Patient With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

The former aim of this study is to determine whether the arm swings change in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) according to healthy subjects. The latter purposes to investigate the correlation between balance parameters and arm swing, how to change arm swing according to severity of the disease, and to determine the relationship between balance and the severity of disease, the relationship of posture both arm swing and severity of disease in patients with COPD. In accordance with this purposes, 20 patients with COPD who have Global Initiative for Chronic Obstruction Lung Disease (GOLD) stage 1-2-3 and 20 healthy controls will be included between the ages of 40 and 65, respectively. Tests and questionnaires will be used in order to determine the severity of COPD and to evaluate posture. Berg Balance Scale, Time Up and Go Test, 6 Minute Pegboard and Ring Test, 6 Minute Walk Test and gait analysis will be performed. It is expected that by determining the parameters that can be affected by severity of COPD. It is estimate to have information about severity of the disease by means of observational analysis. It will guide professional working in the field.

A Morphological Study in Volleyball Athletes With Cronic Ankle Instability

The former purpose of this study to investigate the effect of transverse abdominis, lumbar multifidus, vastus lateralis, lateral gastrocnemius, anterior talofibular ligament of morphology on explosive power and balance performance in cronic ankle instability with volleyball players. The latter purpose of this study to determine morphological characteristics volleyball players with and without cronic ankle insatbility of trunk muscle morphology, field tests and the muscle morphology features between the body affected and unaffected sides whose those with chronic ankle instability.This study was designed as a cross-sectional. Twelve volleyball players with chronic ankle instability who meet the criteria determined by the ankle consortium will be included in study group. Twelve asymptomatic volleyball players who have been training at least three days a week for at least one year will be include in the control group. They will consist of 24 volleyball players between 14-35 years of age.Morphological characteristics of anterior talofibular ligament, transverse abdominis, lumbar multifidus, vastus lateralis, lateral gastrocnemius will be evaluated via ultrasound, explosive power with squat jump, counter movement jump and balance performance by Y-Balance Test. Trunk muscle morphology, core stabilization, explosive power, balance performance will have been compered in volleyball players with and without chronic ankle instability. The effects of morphological features on explosive power and balance performance will have been determined. It is anticipated that by determining the parameters that can be affected by instability with volleyball players, it will guide the professionals working in the field, countribute to treatment and preventive treatment programs.

Comparison of Interpectoral+Serratus Anterior Block With Erector Spinae Block in Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery

Adequate pain management after minimally invasive cardiac surgery is essential for early ambulation and patient satisfaction. However, an incision similar to thoracotomy surgery is made by entering between the ribs, and a severely painful postoperative period is experienced as the intercostal nerves are cut. Invasive cardiac surgery is necessary surgery that can take steps to improve the quality of life and functional status of patients without sternotomy. However, patients may experience intense pain in the immediate postoperative period, which can lead to inactivity, increased risk of complications, and greater consumption of opioids, resulting in adverse effects and prolonged hospital stays. Pain management is challenging due to a large number of dermatomes covered. Interpectoral plane block + serratus anterior plane block, defined in 2012, has been used in many studies before as part of multimodal analgesia in minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Erector spinae block was also described in 2018 with positive results, which has been used in both sternotomies (open heart surgery) and minimally invasive procedures. Minimally invasive cardiac surgery can be excruciating in the postoperative period, just like thoracotomy surgeries. What is aimed in this study is to compare two previously known regional anesthesia techniques in this study.

The Quality of Recovery After Intrathecal Morphine or Adductor Canal Block in Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

The Quality of Recovery 40 (QoR-40) is a multidimensional questionnaire that addresses many aspects of postoperative recovery. The QoR-40 has been used many times to measure the recovery of patients after different surgeries, and this questionnaire seems to be a reliable tool for evaluating anesthesia-related techniques, including regional anesthesia. Arthroscopic knee surgery causes moderate to severe postoperative pain for most patients. Various methods such as different systemic drugs, peripheral or central blocks and intra-articular injections have been developed for the effective, safe and long-term control of this pain. In recent years, it has been shown that regional anesthesia techniques reduce the need for opioids in orthopedic ambulatory surgeries and accelerate recovery and discharge. However, there is no consensus on which is the best approach among these various regional techniques. However, adductor canal block (ACB) and intrathecal morphine (ITM) are the preferred regional methods in the perioperative pain management of knee surgery. In this study, it was aimed to test the effectiveness of intrathecal morphine or adductor canal block added to spinal anesthesia on the quality of recovery in patients undergoing arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery.

Effect of Elastic Taping on Stiffness of Lumbar Stabilizer Muscles

Low back pain is a common health problem worldwide. Epidemiological studies have shown that 70-80% of all people are affected at least once in their lifetime. Although it is common, often the cause of the pain has not been determined and is called 'nonspecific low back pain. Chronic low back pain ranks second among the most common pain complaints under the age of 45 in the industrial age of limited activity. Organic pathology is not encountered in most musculoskeletal system pains. There are usually many underlying causes. The current literature offers a variety of treatment options, depending on the duration and severity of the symptoms of non-specific low back pain. These treatments include behavioral cognitive therapy, medication, electrophysical agents, manual therapy, and general exercises. Looking at the literature, it has been observed that there are not many objective studies investigating the effect of elastic bandage application on muscle elasticity. 'Shear Wave Elastography' is a method that quantitatively reveals the elasticity of tissues by measuring the speed of shear waves formed in the tissues through non-invasive high-frequency ultrasound waves. In recent studies, Shear Wave Elastography has shown promising results in demonstrating the elasticity of peripheral nerves.
