The Effect of Nutrition Education Interventions for Adolescents

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of nutrition education on nutritional literacy, nutritional status, eating habits and eating behavior in high school students. The research will be conducted in six high schools, three of which are intervention schools and three of which are control schools It is planned that a total of 1000 students will be included in the study from the intervention school and 1000 students from the control school. At the beginning of the study (June 2022), an introductory form (sociodemographic characteristics, body image (Stunkart scale), dietary habits, knowledge about weight status) was applied to all students. Adolescent Nutrition Literacy Scale (ANLS), Instrument of Nutrition Literacy, Mediterranean Diet Quality Index (KID-MED), Eating Attitudes Test 26 (EAT-26), International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form (IPAQ) were applied, anthropometric measurements and three-day food consumption records were taken. During the study, nutrition initiatives consisting of 8 modules will be made to the intervention schools. Control schools will not be interfered with during this period.At the end of the study, the procedures applied at the beginning will be repeated.

Earthquake is a disaster that causes physical, psychological, social, economic and cultural losses for individuals and affects/interrupts all age groups and normal life. Children are a group that is more affected by the earthquake than other members of the society and are exposed to its long-term effects. Children who have experienced earthquakes and continue to stay in the earthquake zone experience physical, economic, and social problems. In addition, the emotional and psychological development of these children is negatively affected. Due to the earthquake that occurred on 6 February 2023 affecting 11 provinces in our country, the needs in the field vary. After the acute period (first 1 month), children need psychological support. Problems that cannot be solved in the early period may cause health and behavioural problems in children in later ages and adulthood. In this context, approaching children with appropriate therapeutic communication methods positively affects their psychological well-being and directly affected physical resilience by enabling them to express their emotions. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of therapeutic communication programme on state and trait anxiety levels, psychological resilience, mental health and well-being of children aged 8-12 years affected by the earthquake. Hypotheses H1. After the therapeutic communication programme, children's State Anxiety Scale scores decrease. H2. After the therapeutic communication programme, children's Continuance Anxiety Scale scores decrease. H3. After the therapeutic communication programme, children's Me and My Emotions Scale scores decrease. H4. After the therapeutic communication programme, children's scores on the Child and Adolescent Psychological Resilience Scale increase.

A stronger OXTR immunoreactivity was detected in villous stroma of placenta of the natural birth group compared to the cesarean birth group. Reaction was not observed in syncytotrophoblast cells and syncytial nodes in both groups, but strong immunoreaction was observed fetal endothelial cells and fetal capillaries in both groups.

Effects Of A Home Based Exercise Program Following Total Hip Arthroplasty

The aim of this study is to examine the effects of home-based exercise on pain-related factors, postural control and early functional parameters in individuals undergoing total hip arthroplasty. Forty-four individuals with hip osteoarthritis were included in current study. Individuals were randomized as study group (n=23) and control group (n=21) by drawing lots. Individuals in the study group were followed up with a personalized home-based exercise program for 6 weeks. Individuals in the control group were followed up with an exercise training brochure. The exercise program of the individuals in the study group was checked at two-week intervals and adjustments were made in the exercise program. All individuals were evaluated before the operation, 2 weeks after the operation, and 12 weeks after the operation, and their data were recorded. Range of motion was measured with an inclinometer, muscle strength was measured with a hand dynamometer, joint position sense was measured with a target angle test, pain was measured with a visual pain scale, leg length was measured with a tape measure, and finally, the Q angle was measured with a goniometer. In addition to these,Tampa kinesiophobia scale, Oxford hip score and international physical activity scale were used. Timed up-and-go test was used to evaluate functional performance. Foursquare step test was used to evaluate balance, and finally, tetrax posturography device was used to evaluate postural control.

In shoulder rehabilitation, the inclusion of kinetic chain exercises is advocated in order to provide the necessary energy transfer to produce optimal force with minimal energy consumption. Closed kinetic chain (CKC) exercises are defined as exercises in which the distal segment is stabilized by encountering significant resistance while the proximal segment moves. In contrast, open kinetic chain (OKC) exercises allow the distal segment to move freely without any resistance. Recently, the importance of closed kinetic chain (CKC) exercises has increased in enhancing shoulder joint neuromuscular control by improving dynamic shoulder stability and joint position sense. The most current shoulder rehabilitation protocols include exercises for restoration of scapular muscle imbalances.There exist studies investigating the levels of scapular muscle activation during CKC exercises. Researchers have shown that most CKC exercises especially push-ups and plank variations with the shoulder in the 90° position, generally provide high SA activity and an optimal UT/SA ratio.In the literature, there is limited information on how the level of shoulder elevation affects scapular muscle activity and ratio during closed kinetic chain exercises in the prone position. To effectively prescribe CKC exercises commonly used in rehabilitation and athletic programs, a clear understanding of shoulder elevation changes muscle activity during these exercises is required. Our hypothesis is that glenohumeral joint elevation status will alter scapular muscle activation and activation rates.

Aim: The purpose of this study is to compare serum magnesium levels between patients with migraine and a control group and to examine the relationship between the frequency and duration of attacks in patients with migraine and mean serum magnesium levels. Material-Method: Patients diagnosed presenting to the Balıkesir University Medical Faculty pediatric neurology clinic between 01.09.2019 and 01.04.2023 and diagnosed with migraine were enrolled retrospectively. Patients diagnosed with migraine were included as the study group and healthy children presenting to the pediatric neurology clinic in the same period as the control group. The demographic characteristics (age, sex, and body mass index) of the patient group and their clinical (attack durations and frequencies, symptoms during attacks, and treatments) and laboratory (hemoglobin, hematocrit, platelet, glucose, calcium, magnesium, vitamin D, folate and ferritin levels) characteristics were recorded.

Pregnancies resulting from infertility treatment are considered normal and 'low-risk' in some countries, they often entail significant stress. Prenatal attachment may be experienced differently by parents conceiving through fertility interventions. The rising prevalence of fertility treatments is associated with increased risks such as preterm birth, low birth weight, and perinatal mortality for pregnancies achieved through infertility treatments. Beyond medical implications, post-infertility treatment pregnancies can induce high levels of anxiety and a perception of pregnancy as risky, affecting individuals psychologically. The transition to parenthood after infertility treatment can be psychologically challenging. Healthy prenatal attachment in expectant mothers fosters the development of a healthy role as both mother and father. Maternal bonding is closely tied to a woman's mental health during the prenatal period and her commitment to her baby. Similarly, prenatal bonding with the father sheds light on the emotional connection developing between the father and the unborn child. Active participation in prenatal experiences, such as attending ultrasound appointments or discussing parenting plans, contributes to a stronger sense of attachment for fathers and establishes a positive foundation for future bonding. Supportive partner relationships during pregnancy enhance paternal bonding and emphasize the importance of a collaborative approach to prenatal care for both parents. The prenatal period is critical for fathers to establish an early emotional connection with their unborn children, laying a positive groundwork for postnatal bonding. Various interventions aim to enhance communication between parents and augment prenatal attachment. One such practice is haptonomy-haptotherapy. Haptotherapy focuses on restoring emotional connections, especially with one's own body. It helps individuals recognize their emotional capacities and allows them to experience these capacities through insightful conversations, therapeutic touch, and skill exercises. In the context of pregnancy, haptonomy involves physical contact between the pregnant woman, her partner, and the unborn baby. Advocates of haptonomy believe that this touch-based communication can strengthen the bond between parents and the baby, promote a sense of security, and positively influence the pregnancy experience. Haptonomy is thought to contribute positively to the psychological well-being of women during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period, potentially preventing mental health issues and enhancing the health of both mother and baby. It is emphasized that haptonomy is a distinct practice focused on enhancing communication between parents and the baby. Existing literature suggests that haptonomy can increase emotional bonding during the prenatal period and may be effective for parents showing low attachment. Studies indicate that touch communication develops from the second month, involving vibrations for communicating with the fetus, ultimately increasing bonding through haptonomy. Furthermore, haptonomy is reported to enhance both spousal and parental attachment, as demonstrated in a study emphasizing increased attachment for fathers with their partners and children. Despite documented benefits of haptonomy in various patient groups, from cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy to pregnant women and those with chronic pain, limited research exists on haptotherapy for pregnant women. This study aims to investigate the impact of partner-administered haptonomy on prenatal attachment and marital adjustment in pregnant women. Conducted through a randomized controlled experimental design, the study seeks to provide evidence by enhancing prenatal attachments in both mothers and fathers. Research Hypotheses: H0-1: The application of haptonomy by partners has an effect on maternal attachment in pregnant women. H1-1: The application of haptonomy by partners does not have an effect on maternal attachment in pregnant women. H0-2: The application of haptonomy by partners has no effect on paternal attachment in pregnant women. H1-2: The application of haptonomy by partners has an effect on paternal attachment in pregnant women. H0-3: The application of haptonomy by partners has no effect on marital adjustment in pregnant women.
