Type and Aim of Research This research will be conducted as a randomised controlled experimental study design to test the effect of web-based diabetes education on the quality of life and self-care activities of individuals with Type 2 Diabetes. Place and Time of the Study This research will be conducted between September 2023 and March 2024 with individuals registered to the Cyprus Turkish Diabetes Association. Population and Sample of the Study The population of the study consisted of individuals with Type-2 diabetes who applied to the Cyprus Turkish Diabetes Centre. The sample of the study included individuals with type-2 diabetes who met the inclusion criteria at the Turkish Cypriot Diabetes Centre. Sample size was calculated using G Power statistical programme (n=74). In order to evaluate the effectiveness in the experimental and control groups, simple randomisation was performed to ensure the similarity of the two groups. Randomisation was applied after the pre-tests. The data of the study will be collected by Sociodemographic Data Form, Diabetes Specific Quality of Life Scale, Diabetes Self-Care Activities Questionnaire, Website Analysis and Measurement Inventory. The forms will be applied to the participants face to face. People in the experimental group, whose information was sent to the researcher, will receive reminder messages twice a week (Wednesday-Friday) during the 3-month follow-up period via the website. No intervention will be applied to the control group. The post-test will be applied.
The aim of this study is to examine the effect of person-centered care on nutritional status of patients with dementia. In this study, we think that since the practices that reduce the eating difficulties of patients with dementia and prevent possible problems will be applied in a person-centered manner, a different perspective will be developed in this field and will affect the care of the patients more positively.

This research will be conducted to examine the effect of the lung health promotion program based on the 5A self-management support model on some physiological parameters, Physical Activity Scale in the Elderly score, sleep quality, health status perception and vaccination status of adults aged 65 and over. The research will be carried out as a randomized controlled study with a parallel design. We estimate that the respiratory functions of the elderly will improve, their physical activity levels will increase, immunization against common infectious diseases will increase and people's health perceptions will improve. with the lung health promotion program based on the 5A self-management support model.
The objective of the study will be to investigate the effect of low-level diode laser therapy (LLLT) and steroid on facial nerve injury. Thirty five male Wistar rat will randomly be divided into five groups: healthy control (HCG); damage control (DC); laser (LG); steroid (SG); and combined laser and steroid group (LSG). Right facial nerve electromyography (EMG) data will record after facial nerve damage done and before sacrification at 4th week.The results will be evaluated histopathologically, electrophysiologically and biochemically.
The hypothesis of this study is that sedoanalgesia will provide better early neurological recovery than general anaesthesia in acute ischaemic stroke patients undergoing endovascular thrombectomy and to investigate the haemodynamic data of both anaesthetic methods.
Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a severe neuromuscular disorder characterized by the degeneration of alpha motor neurons in the spinal cord, resulting in progressive muscle atrophy and weakness, particularly in proximal and axial muscles. SMA causes respiratory muscle weakness, recurrent infections, and nocturnal hypoventilation, contributing significantly to morbidity and mortality. Children with SMA often display respiratory and trunk muscle weakness compared to healthy controls. Our project aims to investigate the impact of pulmonary rehabilitation, including inspiratory muscle training, along with trunk control exercises in children with SMA. The study will include 30 SMA patients aged 5-18, with maximum inspiratory capacity below 60 centimeters of water (cmH2O), predicted vital capacity over 25%, and the ability to sit unsupported for more than 5 seconds. The participants will be randomly assigned to two groups: Pulmonary Rehabilitation Group (Group 1, n=15) and Trunk Control Training Group (Group 2, n=15). Group 1 will undergo breathing exercises and inspiratory muscle training (IMT), involving diaphragmatic, pursed-lip, and segmental breathing. IMT will be administered with a portable device, starting at appropriate resistance and consisting of 10 cycles, 10 minutes each, once a day, with designated rest intervals. Also applied by calculating 30% of the maximal inspiratory pressure (MIP). During weekly clinic visits, the MIP value will be recalculated and the current threshold pressure value will be determined. In Group 2, alongside pulmonary rehabilitation, children will engage in trunk control exercises, progressively increasing in difficulty, focusing on pelvic control, proximal stabilization, and strengthening trunk and gluteal muscles. All interventions will be performed in front of a mirror. At the end of the 8-week intervention, MIP and Maximal Expiratory Pressure (MEP) will be used to measure respiratory muscle performance, spirometry will be used to monitor lung volume changes, and Peak Cough Flow will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of cough. The Trunk Control Measurement Scale, the Revised Upper Extremity Module, and the Children's Quality of Life Scale will assess trunk control, upper extremity functions, and quality of life, respectively. The Hammersmith Functional Motor Scale will assess gross motor functions and the Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale will inquire about familial factors affecting the child.
Nurses play an important role in patients; pain management during the peroperative period. In this process, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, opioids, patient-controlled analgesia and local anesthetics can be used pharmacologically in pain management. However, it has been reported in the literature that using pharmacological and non-pharmacological applications together in pain management has better positive effects on the patient. Hot application, cold application, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, massage, reiki, music therapy, aromatherapy are some of the non-pharmacological applications used to relieve pain in the postoperative period. Hot application is one of the effective, cheap and easy-to-use non-pharmacological methods in relieving pain. Hot applications can be made as dry hot, local wet and general wet applications. Foot bath with hot water is one of the non-pharmacological methods that nurses can apply to relieve post-operative patients; pain, reduce anxiety and stress levels, relax muscles and improve sleep quality. There are studies in the literature showing that heat application reduces pain levels and improves sleep quality in different patient groups. In the study of Aghamohammadi et al., it was found that a 20-minute hot foot bath applied to women in menopause improved sleep quality. In the study of Han et al., it was found that hot foot bath with aromatherapy applied to patients with edema in the lower extremities significantly reduced pain and edema. In the study of Soonyoung and Myoungjin, it was determined that hot water foot bath applied to patients who underwent hand replantation reduced the pain of the patients. In another study, hand and foot baths after cesarean section were effective in reducing the pain of patients. When the literature was examined, no study was found examining the effect of hot foot bath on anxiety, pain, sleep and comfort levels after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. In this context, this study was planned and conducted to determine the effect of hot foot bath on pain, anxiety, sleep and comfort levels in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Patients with developmental hip dysplasia often present to the outpatient clinic in adulthood with hip pain due to progressive hip osteoarthritis. However, they may have complaints such as limping, lumbar lordosis, lower back pain, and leg length difference. Today, the best treatment option for these patients is hip arthroplasty. Hip arthroplasty causes a high rate of functional improvement and pain relief. According to the hip arthroplasty technique applied, improvement in lameness, leg length difference and spinal curvatures is expected. The aim of our study is to show the change in postoperative spine and lower extremity curvatures after hip arthroplasty in patients with advanced developmental hip dislocation.
