There are about 8563 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Sweden. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This randomized, parallel-group study will assess the efficacy and safety of RoActemra/Actemra (tocilizumab) versus adalimumab, both in combination with methotrexate (MTX) in patients with moderate to severe active rheumatoid arthritis. Patients, already treated with MTX at stable doses, will be randomized to receive either RoActemra/Actemra 8 mg/kg intravenously (IV) every 4 weeks or adalimumab 40 mg subcutaneous (SC) every 2 weeks. All patients will receive methotrexate (10-25 mg weekly) and folate (at least 5 mg weekly). The anticipated time on study treatment is 24 weeks.
This study was planned to provide new information regarding the role of aliskiren (with or without additional therapy with a diuretic or a Calcium channel blockers (CCB)) in elderly individuals (≥ 65 years) with systolic blood pressure (SBP) 130 to 159 mmHg, in preventing major cardiovascular (CV) events and on global measures of physical, executive and cognitive function.
The primary objective was to demonstrate the effect of teriflunomide, in comparison to placebo, on frequency of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) relapses in patients with relapsing forms of MS who are treated with Interferon-beta (IFN-beta). The secondary objectives were: - Assess the effect of teriflunomide, in comparison to placebo, when added to IFN-beta on: - Disease activity as measured by brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - Disability progression - Burden of disease and disease progression as measured by brain MRI - Evaluate the safety and tolerability of teriflunomide when added to IFN-beta therapy - Assess the pharmacokinetics of teriflunomide in use in addition to baseline IFN-beta therapy - Assess associations between variations in genes and clinical outcomes (safety and efficacy) - Assess other measures of efficacy of teriflunomide such as fatigue and health-related quality of life - Assess measures of health economics (hospitalization due to relapse, including the length of stay and any admission to intensive care unit)
Incidental findings of adrenal tumours,"incidentalomas", occur in 1-5 % in the general population and 10-25 % of these patients will exhibit biochemical mild hypercortisolism. Although the patients do not have clinical signs of classical Cushing's syndrome, they have an increased risk for hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis and obesity. The hypothesis of the study is, that surgery of the adrenal adenoma responsible for the increased secretion of cortisol, will in part cure or ameliorate the metabolic syndrome.
The purpose of this clinical study is to demonstrate the effectiveness and safety of the Trufit CB (Cartilage Bone) implant for the treatment of single, isolated cartilage defects of the knee compared to Microfracture.
The aim is to evaluate effects of internet-based applied relaxation (a simplified version of cognitive behavioral therapy) for women with menopausal symptoms mainly vasomotoric symptom (VMS), i.e. hot flashes and sweating. Sixty postmenopausal women with VMS will be recruited and 30 randomized to applied relaxation (AR) via internet and 30 to a control group which is a non-treated waitlist group. At baseline, after 10 weeks of therapy and six, 12 and 24 months after end of therapy women will be asked to fill in diaries about hot flashes and answer questionnaires on Quality of Life (Women's Health Questionnaire; WHQ, anxiety and depression measured with Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale; HADS and one measuring sleep, Insomnia Severity Index; ISI as well as one about knowledge of the climacteric and hormone therapy). The waiting list group will be offered internet based AR after 10 weeks with the same follow-up as the treatment group.
This study is to determine if the combination regimen of tivantinib with erlotinib will improve overall survival relative to erlotinib alone in subjects with locally advanced or metastatic non-squamous, non-small cell lung cancer who have received 1 or 2 prior systemic anti-cancer therapies.
An increase of blood flow and capillary permeability decrease the impact of an endothelial barrier for glucose and insulin allowing them to reach their target cells in peripheral insulin sensitive organ in the human body. It is well known that insulin-resistant type 2 diabetes patients have an impaired blood flow in skeletal muscle and it is therefore important to elucidate means to reverse this metabolic defect. The investigators have in a recently published study in type 2 diabetes patients used a drug against erectile dysfunction, the PDE-5 inhibitor tadalafil, with known effects on several vascular territories, to increase muscle blood flow in type 2 diabetes patients who were studied after fasting overnight. The aim of this study is to test the hypothesis that tadalafil, compared to placebo, increases muscle glucose uptake and lowers blood glucose following a mixed meal served to type 2 diabetes patients.
This randomized clinical phase III trial is testing the efficacy of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) in the treatment of colorectal carcinoma liver metastases. Primary end point is local progression free survival.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of inotuzumab ozogamicin plus rituximab in relapsed/refractory aggressive Non-Hodgkin lymphoma patients who are not candidates for intensive high-dose chemotherapy. Specifically, the goal is to demonstrate the superiority of this combination compared with an active comparator arm (investigator's choice of rituximab+bendamustine or rituximab+gemcitabine) using the primary endpoint of overall survival.
