This study aims to investigate the impact on being on a gluten free diet the first three years of life compared to a daily intake of a probiotic supplementation or placebo on the risk of developing celiac disease autoimmunity or celiac disease in genetically susceptible children. Study participants will be randomly allocated to one of the three study groups before the age of 4 months and will remain in that group with the corresponding intervention during the three first years of life. Regular visits to a study nurse and contact with study dietician will be scheduled. The dietician will support the families in keeping the correct diet intended for each study group.
The study is a Randomised Registry-based Clinical Trial (RRCT) to assess whether dual antiplatelet therapy with ticagrelor and ASA compared to ASA alone improves outcome after isolated CABG in patients with acute coronary syndrome.
Ten healthy subjects perform a baseline computer tomography (CT) of the heart and routine laboratory blood tests for myocardial injury and inflammation. The same data are collected <24 hours after an endurance race corresponding to a maraton run (i.e. about 40 km of running and/or about 2.5 hours hard training or more). A third collection of lab tests and CT is done a couple of weeks after the race. Magnetic resonance imaging is also performed in parallell to the CT on occasions 2 and 3 in most subjects, serving as a reference for determination of myocardial blood flow.
Dental trauma injuries during childhood may have an adverse impact on oral health throughout life. If trauma injuries causes pulpal necrosis, then the root stop forming. These teeth have consequently a questionable long-term survival. Dental management of necrotic teeth with aberrant root formation represents a challenging clinical situation. The classical approach for treating these teeth includes apexification. Both apexification with Calcium hydroxide and MTA do not achieve the goals of continued root development or restoration of pulp tissue functionality. In the last decades, a biological based approach referred as "revascularization", or "regeneration" has emerged as a biological treatment for necrotic pulps with aberrant root development. This treatment aims to regenerate pulp-like tissue within the root canal space after inducing an influx of stem cells from the apical papilla that results in reestablishment of pulp protective functions. There is evidence supporting the regeneration potential of dental tissues after regenerative endodontic treatment. However, root formation in traumatized immature teeth seems variable. The overall goal of this study is to gain knowledge about the treatment of immature necrotic teeth in young individuals due to dental trauma. The primary goal is to compare volumetric hard tissue formation between the MTA apexification and the regeneration treatment.
An open, randomised, parallel arm phase IIa study. 52 HIV-1 infected patients will be randomised (in a 1:1 ratio) to either an active group or a control group. The active group will receive the GnRH analogue triptorelin depot monthly at baseline, week 4 and week 8. Patients in the active group and in the control group will continue their triple combination antiretroviral therapy (ART) during the study without changes; unless there is rationale for change on medical ground. In order to prevent the negative effects of a low testosterone level, patients in the active group will be offered to receive a single intramuscular depot injection of testosterone approximately 7 days after triptorelin treatment. This depot administration will keep the serum testosterone on a normal level until the next triptorelin dose. This will be repeated when triptorelin is administered at week 4 and week 8. Total study period is 24 weeks.
The LOVIT study is a European prospective, multi-center, open-label, single-arm feasibility trial designed to determine the safety and angiographic effectiveness through 30 days post treatment with Lumenate Intraluminal Device in the treatment of symptomatic vasospasm.
Placebo controlled trial study of efficacy of Kinetic Oscillation Stimulation (KOS) in nasal cavity will be conducted in patients with myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS). The outcome of the treatment will be assessed with clinical evaluation of patients, cognitive tests, structural and functional MRI of the brain.
In this project the investigators wish to: Evaluate intra-operative and postop complications, longer term survivorship and patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) following primary total knee replacement using Persona Total Knee system. This project is carried out as prospective cohort study. Recruitment of participants to this project is expected to begin in October 2016 or as soon as permission from the Regional Ethics Committee and the local Data Protection Agency is obtained as required. A total of 700 participants (including 155 participants from a randomized controlled trial (RCT) investigating the Persona and the Nexgen total knee systems, which is separately submitted to the ethics committee) are to be included at several centers in the nordic region. Recruitment is expected complete after a period of 1,5 years per site. The patient follow-up visits are expected to be completed 2 years after recruitment of the last participant. Survivorship will be collected until 10 years after the recruitment of the last participant. Participants are seen on an outpatient basis at 3 months and 1 and 2 years postoperatively. After the 2 year follow-up visit the patients recruited in the Scandinavian sites will be followed for survivorship through the National Knee Arthroplasty Registries at 5, 7 and 10 years postoperatively. Since France does not have a national registry, the French site will also perform 5 year follow-up visits.
In this longitudinal cohort study including young to middle aged people with longstanding hip and groin pain (LHGP) referred to tertiary care, we will collect data of patient reported symptoms, function and quality of life three and seven years after the initial contact with orthopedic surgeon.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term safety and efficacy of pembrolizumab (MK-3475) in participants from previous Merck pembrolizumab-based parent studies who transition into this extension study. This study will consist of three phases: 1) First Course Phase, 2) Survival Follow-up Phase or 3) Second Course Phase. Each participant will transition to this extension study in one of the following three phases, depending on the study phase they were in at the completion of the parent study. Participants who were in the First Course Phase of study treatment with pembrolizumab or lenvatinib in their parent study will enter the First Course Phase of this study and complete up to 35 doses or more every 3 weeks (Q3W) or 17 doses or more every 6 weeks (Q6W) of study treatment with pembrolizumab or a pembrolizumab-based combination or lenvatinib according to arm assignment. Participants who were in the Follow-up Phase in the parent study (post-treatment or Survival Follow-up Phase) will enter the Survival Follow-up Phase of this study. Participants who were in the Second Course Phase in their parent study will enter Second Course Phase of this study and complete up to 17 doses Q3W or 8 doses Q6W of study treatment with pembrolizumab or a pembrolizumab-based combination according to arm assignment. Any participant originating from a parent trial where crossover to pembrolizumab was permitted upon disease progression may be eligible for 35 doses as Q3W or 17 doses Q6W of pembrolizumab (approximately 2 years), if they progress while on the control arm and pembrolizumab is approved for the indication in the country where the potential eligible crossover participant is being evaluated.
