Effect of Target Fortified Human Milk on the Growth Quality of Very Preterm Infants (TargetFort)

It is reported that the standard method for fortification of human milk (HM) overestimates the energy and protein densities of HM (Macedo MHNP 2018), thus originating infant undernutrition (Macedo AJP 2018). The target fortification, based on analysis of HM composition, is considered the gold-standard method (Rochow 2015, McLeod 2016). This observational mixed cohort study aims to assess if very preterm infants fed HM with target fortification have greater growth during hospital stay and better body composition at term post-menstrual age (PMA), than those fed HM with standard fortification.

Does ACL Augmented With LEAT Better Controls Rotational Laxity Than Isolated ACL Reconstruction?

It has been suggested that adding a Lateral Extra-Articular Tenodesis (LEAT) to Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction has the advantage of better controlling the rotational laxity. The objective of this study is to compare the the sagittal and rotational knee laxity using the Porto Knee Testing Device (PKTD) - a MRI-compatible arthrometer - at 2 years follow-up (side-to-side and to baseline comparison) in patients that underwent isolated ACL reconstruction (isolated ACL) versus ACL reconstruction combined with LEAT (ACL+LEAT). Patient-reported outcome measures using the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) and graft failure (re-tear) will also be assessed at 2 years follow-up.

A Study Following Males With Haemophilia B on Prophylaxis With Refixia/REBINYN

This study will collect information on side effects and how well Refixia/REBINYN works during long-term treatment (prophylaxis) in males with haemophilia B. While taking part in this study, participants will receive the same treatment as given to them by their study doctor. All visits at the clinic are done in the same way as the participants are used to. During visits at the clinic, participants might be asked for some relevant tests if considered useful by their study doctor. During the visits, the participants study doctor might ask if the participants had any side effects since their last study visit. The participants will be asked to note down the number of bleeds and the treatment of their bleeds as well as their regular prophylaxis. During the visits to the clinic, the participants will be asked to answer some questionnaires about their quality of life and their ability to be physically active. The participant's participation in the study will last for 4-9 years, depending on when they join the study. Participants are free to leave the study at any time and for any reason. This will not affect their current and future medical care.

Influence of a Rehabilitation Nursing Care Program on Quality of Life of Patients Undergoing Cardiac Surgery

Cardiac rehabilitation is fundamental in the treatment of patients undergoing cardiac surgery regarding the educational, physical exercise and quality of life dimensions. Considering the competences of Specialist Nurses in Rehabilitation Nursing and the current prevalence of risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease, it is essential to implement programs in this area. This study aims to assess the impact of Specialist Nurses in Rehabilitation Nursing interventions on a cardiac rehabilitation program during hospitalization (phase I) and 1 month after cardiac surgery (phase II), in around 30 patients of both sexes, between 25 and 64 years old, and according to the American Heart Association and the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, met the criteria for low or moderate risk, class B for participation and exercise supervision, absence of signs/symptoms after cardiac surgery, with a left ventricular ejection fraction greater than 40%. Supervised interventions were performed during hospitalization, pre- and post-cardiac surgery, and 1 month after hospital discharge. In phase II, a physical exercise program was fulfilled according to the norms of the American College of Sports Medicine, comprising 3 sessions of physical exercise per week lasting between 30 to 60 minutes, including heating, aerobic exercise, and recovery/stretching. Hemodynamic data (blood pressure, heart rate, peripheral oxygen saturation) and the Borg scale were recorded in the initial, intermediate and final periods of each session. The aerobic capacity was evaluated through the 6-Minute Walk Test and health-related quality of life using the Short Form Health Survey 36 (SF-36V2) questionnaire.

Be a Mom: Effectiveness of a Web-based Preventive Intervention for Postpartum Depression

The main goal of the research is to apply and evaluate the web-based preventive intervention (the Be a Mom program), in terms of its efficacy, acceptability and feasibility (user's adherence, dropout), and user's satisfaction. Prior to the randomized controlled trial (RCT), the investigators will conduct a pilot trial to evaluate the preliminary version of the Be a Mom program in high-risk women (random assignment to the intervention or to the control condition). The RCT will be a two-arm prevention trial. Women who have had a child during the prior month will be enrolled in the study. A minimum number of 1000 women will be enrolled in the study. After agreeing to participate in the study, the women will be screened for the presence of risk factors for PPD and early-onset PPD symptoms (using self-report questionnaires) by a researcher (licensed psychologist). In case of a negative screen, women's participation in the study will end. In case of a positive screen (high-risk women), women will be randomly assigned to one of the conditions: the intervention (Be a Mom program) or the control condition. The sample will be recruited online and at the maternities of Coimbra University Hospitals-CHUC, EPE. Participation in the study will last 11 months. The Be a Mom program will last 5 weeks. Participants in both conditions will be invited by the researchers via email to complete baseline, post-intervention and follow-up (4-months and 12-months after childbirth) assessments. Assessments will include self-report questionnaires to assess several indicators (e.g., depressive and anxiety symptoms, dyadic adjustment, mother-child bonding, and maternal confidence), mechanisms that may be involved in the treatment response (e.g., npsychological flexibility, emotional regulation) and user's acceptability and satisfaction.

The main purpose of this study is to characterize and compare the 3D shoulder kinematics bilaterally while performing functional movement patterns tests that hypothetically replicate the 5 main phases of the throwing cycle. The tests are based on diagonal D2 for flexion (early and late cocking of the arm) and D2 for extension (acceleration, deceleration and follow-through of the arm) of the upper extremity of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation techniques.
