There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Worldwide, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to grow. Although COVID-19 mainly affects the lungs and internal organs, musculoskeletal injury from this disease was reported with the presentation of marked elevation in creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase levels. Patients with post-acute COVID-19 are considered patients with a post-intensive syndrome (PICS) that results in loss of functional independence. In the physical and rehabilitation medical field, various modalities with therapeutic exercise can be used to manage pain by a physical therapist and psychiatrist. Pain management is particularly important during the COVID-19 pandemic because of the reduced accessibility to hospitals and medical resources.
To develop an International registry on head and neck cancer patients infected with COVID-19
Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) is characterized by symptoms of chronic orthostatic intolerance such as fatigue, lightheadedness, dizziness, palpitations and by pronounced tachycardia upon standing. The aims of the present research study are to test whether a daily transcutaneous vagal nerve stimulation (tVNS) performed for 14 consecutive days may improve heart rate response and reduce disabling symptoms while standing.
Preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) is associated with neonatal complications leading to a high rate of cerebral palsy, sepsis, and death. Choosing the best time of delivery is crucial to improve fetal outcome. The balance is between a premature delivery exposing the infant to all the risk of prematurity, and keeping the baby in utero, prolonging the exposure to an adverse intrauterine milieu. There are no objective and reproducible tools to help in this decision-making process. Techniques most frequently used for fetal surveillance are biased by high inter- and intra-observer variability. Computerized cardiotocography (cCTG) identifies several objective parameters related to fetal heart rate (FHR) to determine fetal well-being. cCTG has been successfully used in fetuses with intrauterine growth restriction, but it has never been used in prospective studies to assess its role in the management of fetuses with PPROM. The investigators designed a case control study to highlight cCTG differences in PPROM pregnancies versus physiological pregnancies, to establish the effectiveness in predicting adverse outcome, and to develop a score to predict neonatal outcome.
Frailty is a syndrome in which the accumulation of small, individually insignificant deficits leads to heightened vulnerability to adverse events and predisposes to potential catastrophic decompensation. Objective of this study is to clarify the underlying genetic and immunological mechanisms responsible of frailty condition focused on: i. nephrosclerosis ageing kidney phenotype related to salt effects on immunosystem, ii. immunological aspect of sarcopenia, iii. psychological disorder related to immunosystem activation, iv. detection of new biomarkers of frailty.
Seawater is rich in minerals which may help confer good palatability to foods, favouring the use of smaller amounts of salt, a recognized measure of cardiovascular prevention. The aim of this study is to investigate the nutritional properties, sensory characteristics and metabolic effects of a typical Neapolitan pizza prepared with seawater (SWP) in place of common salt, in comparison with Standard traditional Pizza (StP). Methods: The nutritional characteristics and the chemical profile of the SWP and StP were assessed by chemical analyses and the use of Food Composition Tables. Twelve healthy volunteers will be recruited for a Randomized Controlled Trial, with the consumption of one StP and one SWP using a balanced crossover design. The satiating power and palatability of the two pizzas will be tested by the administration of Visual Analogue Scales. Serum glucose, insulin and sodium will be measured every 30 minutes and 3-hour urines will be collected after each meal.
This is a 2-part study. In Part 1, participants will be dosed at 2 different dose levels in order to select the RP2D for Part 2 of the study.
the study sought to investigate the influence of 8 weeks of a very low carbohydrate ketogenic diet on body composition, muscle strength, muscle area and blood parameters in competitive natural body builders.
This study will evaluate the efficacy, safety, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacokinetics (PK) of obinutuzumab compared with tacrolimus in participants with primary membranous nephropathy (pMN).
Risk stratification of COVID-19 patients is essential to define their appropriate treatment setting. So far, available studies have focused on morbidity and mortality prediction in patients admitted to hospital. In the Emergency Department (ED), decision on home discharge versus hospital admission for COVID-19 is cumbersome. While facing a dramatic second wave of SARS-CoV-2, shortage of hospital beds has further increased the challenge. The present study will prospectively evaluate the clinical outcomes of patients discharged from the ED. Stratification will be based on a composite of demographic, clinical and lung imaging variables. Results will be used to develop standardized decision rules for safe home discharge of patients with COVID-19 evaluated in the ED.
