There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The goal of this prospective observational study is to estimate the prevalence of brachial plexus injury after prone positioning in patients with ARDS and to evaluate the safety of swimmer position. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Could arm positioning during pronation play a role in the development of any nerve injury at the brachial plexus level? - Is swimmer position safe when adopted during prone positioning? Participants will be studied at selective time points using EMG assessment.
A study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of benralizumab administered subcutaneously in patients ≥ 6 to < 18 years of age with severe eosinophilic asthma, including a well-documented history of asthma exacerbations and uncontrolled asthma receiving high-dose inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) plus at least one additional controller medication.
This project has several objectives ranging from clinical data analysis to computational simulations as listed below: A) Clinical objectives: 1. Retrospective review of all patients with AAOCA treated surgically and followed medically at the IRCCS Policlinico San Donato aiming to identify risk factors for ischemia or sudden cardiac deaths. 2. Prospective follow-up of all enrolled patients, treated and followed, in adjunct to all the new patients referred aiming to follow across the years any potential rare adverse event (ischemia, angina event, sudden cardiac death). B) Experimental objectives: 1. Retrieve morphological measurements from CT or MRI (de-identified) of the aortic root and the coronary vessels following the previous work of our group. 2. Construct a parametric model of the aortic root defined by population-based morphologic parameters to describe both healthy/diseased population. 3. Run solid mechanics simulation mimicking the movement of the aortic root in order to test configurations at more risk. 4. Reconstruct 3D surfaces representing the coronary vasculature from imaging for automatically perform the parameter estimation and run computational fluid dynamics simulations.
Even if awareness among nurses regarding the importance of nutritional care for older people has increased in recent years, nurses continue to underestimate the necessary approach to prevent malnutrition. Therefore, some authors have argued the critical importance of understanding which factors can influence nurses' caring behaviors during real situations and affect the prevention and management of malnutrition under actual working conditions. Specifically, the relationship between nurses' attitudes, knowledge, and self-efficacy in nutritional care for older people has not been described yet. Understanding these relationships can provide a framework to enhance adequate caring behaviors, mitigating the negative attitudes. Considering that self-efficacy has been previously theorized in several populations as the mediator of the relationship from knowledge and attitudes to specific behaviors, the investigators hypothesized that knowledge and attitudes in the specific area of nursing nutritional care have moderately positive effects on nursing caring behaviors in nutritional care only through the mediation of nursing self-efficacy. The study design is a multi-phase, descriptive observational cross-sectional, multicentric study, collecting data using a web-survey.
The main goal of this study is to investigate the tolerability to the use of the GRAIL system in subjects affected by Rett syndrome, particularly referred to: 1. Grail environment (training in dark conditions, interaction with wide and surrounding screen, positioning over the treadmill); 2. time to prepare a set of body marker in order to execute a gait analysis; 3. walking activity over treadmill, with immersive virtual reality; 4. proprioceptive stimulatione provided by the GRAIL platform; 5. cognitive-attentive span time to the activity proposed. The secondary goal is to understand if a training that avail of treadmill and virtual reality would be useful in the future in improving gait characteristics in subjects affected by Rett syndrome
Lung Transplantation (LuTX) is the curative treatment for selected patients with end-stage lung disease. Primary Graft Dysfunction (PGD), a specific form of respiratory failure occurring within the first 72 hours after graft reperfusion, represents the most common complication after LuTX. Actual recommendation regarding management of mechanical ventilation of the lung graft immediately after LuTX are based only on opinion experts and not on clinical trials. Optimization of Positive End-Expiratory Pressure might contribute to both prevention and treatment of PGD. In this interventional single-center non-pharmacological study (with medical device), in the immediate postoperative period of patients who are undergone LuTX, we will evaluate the effects of varying levels of PEEP upon: - lung and chest wall mechanics, - intrapulmonary shunt fraction; - distribution of ventilation and perfusion; - gas exchange. The final aim is to find the optimal level of PEEP in this patient's cohort
Acne scars represent a frequent complication of moderate/severe acne and may negatively impact on psychosocial and physical well-being of acne patients. Several types of acne scars have been classified and the same patient is likely to have more than one type. Each type can be treated with varying degrees of success. The main acne scars are the following: Atrophic or Depressed Scarring: - Ice pick: An ice pick scar has a wide shaft that narrows down to the tip. It resembles a hole that's wide at the top and narrows to a point as it goes deeper into the skin. Such an indentation is common and one of the most challenging scars to heal. This scar is more frequent on forehead and upper cheeks, where skin is thinner. - Rolling: These scars are typically found on the lower cheeks and jaw, where skin is thicker. The indents have sloping edges that makes the skin look uneven and wavy. - Boxcar: Boxcar scars are indents that have sharper edges. Those edges go down deep into the skin. These scars are common on the lower checks and jaw.
The main aim of the study is to explore HFs in SRV, comparing their magnitude and direction with that of subpulmonary RV and systemic LV. As a secondary aim, possible association or correlation will be investigated between SRV energetics and: i) patient functional parameters, e.g., the results from cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET), ii) patient clinical status, including the occurrence of adverse outcome (a composite of death, hospitalization for heart failure, cardiovascular arrest, sustained arrhythmias).
The aim of our study is to provide data on the efficacy and safety of endoscopic papillectomy, by including consecutive patients treated after 2015, when first guidelines on endoscopic management of ampullary neoplasms were available.
The study aims to evaluate the effects of an oral supplementation based on inositols and alpha-lactalbumin on principals metabolic parameters in patients with metabolic syndrome at risk of cardiac fibrosis
