NCT ID: NCT00053807 Completed - Kidney Cancer Clinical Trials

Interleukin-2, Interferon Alfa, and Fluorouracil Compared With Observation in Treating Patients Who Have Undergone Surgery for Kidney Cancer

Start date: February 1998
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Interferon alfa may interfere with the growth of tumor cells. Interleukin-2 may stimulate a person's white blood cells to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining interferon alfa and interleukin-2 with fluorouracil may kill any remaining tumor cells following surgery. It is not yet known whether combining interferon alfa and interleukin-2 with fluorouracil is more effective than observation after surgery for kidney cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of combining interleukin-2, interferon alfa, and fluorouracil to that of observation alone in treating patients who have undergone surgery for kidney cancer and are at high risk of relapse.

NCT ID: NCT00053573 Completed - Pompe Disease Clinical Trials

rhGAA in Patients With Infantile-onset Glycogen Storage Disease-II (Pompe Disease)

Start date: February 2003
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Glycogen Storage Disease Type II ("GSD-II"; also known as Pompe disease) is caused by a deficiency of a critical enzyme in the body called acid alpha-glucosidase (GAA). Normally, GAA is used by the body's cells to break down glycogen (a stored form of sugar) within specialized structures called lysosomes. In patients with GSD-II, an excessive amount of glycogen accumulates and is stored in various tissues, especially heart and skeletal muscle, which prevents their normal function. This study is being conducted to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of recombinant human acid alpha-glucosidase (rhGAA) as a potential enzyme replacement therapy for GSD-II. Patients diagnosed with infantile-onset GSD-II who are greater than 6 months old, but less than or equal to 36 months old will be studied.

NCT ID: NCT00052156 Active, not recruiting - Malignant Melanoma Clinical Trials

Vaccine Therapy for Patients With Stage IV Melanoma

Start date: n/a
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a Phase III study in patients with melanoma that has spread to the lymph nodes and/or a distant organ, and who have had all of their cancer surgically removed. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the ability of the CancerVax™ vaccine to prevent or slow the recurrence of melanoma.

NCT ID: NCT00052130 Active, not recruiting - Malignant Melanoma Clinical Trials

Vaccine Therapy for Patients With Stage III Melanoma

Start date: n/a
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a Phase 3 study in patients with melanoma that has spread to the lymph nodes (stage III), and who have had all of their cancer surgically removed. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the ability of the CancerVax™ vaccine to prevent or slow the recurrence of melanoma.

NCT ID: NCT00050973 Completed - Clinical trials for Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Evaluation of Efficacy, Safety and Tolerability of Targretin Capsules in Patients With Advanced or Metastatic Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: n/a
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study evaluates the use of Targretin capsules (bexarotene) in combination with standard chemotherapy for the treatment of metastatic Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) in patients who have not yet received chemotherapy for their lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00049998 Completed - Clinical trials for Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer

Oral Topotecan Versus Intravenous Docetaxel In Pretreated, Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: October 2001
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to collect information on how effective and how well tolerated an oral investigational drug is compared to a standard intravenous drug in patients with pretreated, advanced non-small lung cancer (NSCLC).

NCT ID: NCT00049517 Completed - Leukemia Clinical Trials

Combination Chemotherapy With or Without Monoclonal Antibody Therapy in Treating Patients With AML Leukemia

Start date: December 19, 2002
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Giving combination chemotherapy before a stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer cells. It also helps stop the patient's immune system from rejecting the transplanted stem cells. When the healthy stem cells are infused into the patient they may help the patient's bone marrow make stem cells, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. If the patient's stem cells are to be transplanted, the patient is also treated with a monoclonal antibody, such as gemtuzumab ozogamicin, to kill any remaining cancer cells or deliver cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. It is not yet known whether combination chemotherapy is more effective with or without gemtuzumab ozogamicin followed by stem cell transplant in treating acute myeloid leukemia. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying combination chemotherapy, gemtuzumab ozogamicin, and stem cell transplant to see how well they work compared to combination chemotherapy and peripheral stem cell transplant alone in treating patients with acute myeloid leukemia.
