A Study of Albuferon and Ribavirin in Interferon Naive Subjects With Chronic Hepatitis C Genotype 1

Start date: May 2005
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Albuferon in combination with ribavirin in interferon (IFN) alfa treatment-naïve subjects with chronic hepatitis C genotype 1. The study will randomize subjects to 1 of 4 treatment groups including 3 different Albuferon groups or to the active control group, peginterferon alfa-2a (PEGASYS, PEG-IFNalfa-2a). All subjects will also receive oral daily ribavirin.

NCT ID: NCT00113815 Completed - Epilepsy Clinical Trials

Topiramate as Adjunctive Therapy in Infants 1-24 Months for the Control of Partial Onset Seizures

Start date: May 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the tolerability, safety and efficacy of topiramate in infants with refractory partial onset seizures (POS).

NCT ID: NCT00111787 Completed - Neoplasms, Breast Clinical Trials

Study Of Lapatinib In Combination With Paclitaxel In The Treatment Of Newly Diagnosed Inflammatory Breast Cancer

Start date: April 11, 2005
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This Study was designed to determine how effective and safe a new investigational drug, lapatinib, is in combination with paclitaxel in treating patients with newly diagnosed inflammatory breast cancer. Tumor tissue collected pre-treatment, following 14 days of treatment and at the time of surgical resection will be examined for pathologic response and biologic activity by IHC (immunohistochemistry) within the tumor. Treatment will consist of 14 days of lapatinib monotherapy followed by 12 weeks of combination therapy with lapatinib and paclitaxel. Blood samples for hematology and chemistry panels, MUGA/ECHO exams and physical exams will be performed throughout the study to monitor safety.

NCT ID: NCT00111228 Completed - Diabetes Mellitus Clinical Trials

The Guardcontrol Trial: Study to Assess if Type 1 Diabetics Can Improve Using the Real-time Values of Guardian RT

Start date: October 2004
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The objective of the study is to determine whether patients with poor glycemic control can improve metabolic control using the real-time values of the Guardian® RT compared to conventional self-monitoring blood glucose finger-sticks.

NCT ID: NCT00110721 Terminated - Colorectal Cancer Clinical Trials

GM-CT-01 Plus 5-Fluorouracil as Third- or Fourth-Line Therapy for Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

Start date: May 2005
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is a Phase II, multi-center study of GM-CT-01 which has been shown to increase the anti-tumor activity of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in mice. 5-FU is a chemotherapy drug commonly used in cancer patients. In this Phase II study, patients with colon cancer which has spread, despite treatment with approved therapies, will receive GM-CT-01 plus 5-FU in monthly cycles for at least 2 cycles or until their disease progresses.

NCT ID: NCT00109408 Completed - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

A Study to Assess the Safety and Efficacy of Tocilizumab in Patients With Active Rheumatoid Arthritis

Start date: July 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This 2 arm study will assess the safety and efficacy of tocilizumab monotherapy versus methotrexate in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Patients will be randomized to receive tocilizumab 8mg/kg iv every 4 weeks plus placebo po weekly, or methotrexate 7.5-20mg po weekly plus placebo iv every 4 weeks. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months and the target sample size is 500+ individuals.

NCT ID: NCT00108433 Terminated - Bacteremia Clinical Trials

Linezolid in the Treatment of Hemodialysis Patients With Catheter-Related Gram-Positive Bloodstream Infections

Start date: September 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study will treat hemodialysis patients who have a central catheter that is thought to be infected with a specific bacteria (Gram positive bacteria).

NCT ID: NCT00107601 Completed - Critical Illness Clinical Trials

Glucontrol Study: Comparing the Effects of Two Glucose Control Regimens by Insulin in Intensive Care Unit Patients

Start date: October 2004
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Glucontrol is a prospective, randomized, controlled, multi-centric study. The present study will compare the effects of two regimens of insulin therapy, respectively titrated to achieve a blood sugar level between 4.4 and 6.1 mmol/l (80 and 110 mg/dl, respectively) and between 7.8 and 10.0 mmol/l (140 and 180 mg/dl, respectively). This project aims at defining whether a tight glucose control by insulin improves the vital outcome in a mixed population of critically ill patients (around 3000 patients). Secondary outcome variables will include in-hospital and 28-day mortality, lengths of stays in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and in the hospital, length of ICU stay without life-support therapy, number and clinical signs of episodes of hypoglycemia, rates of infections and organ failures, and number of red-cell transfusions.

NCT ID: NCT00107198 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Ann Arbor Stage II Childhood Hodgkin Lymphoma

Treating Young Patients With Newly Diagnosed, Low Stage, Lymphocyte Predominant Hodgkin Disease

Start date: January 2, 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This clinical trial is studying how well surgery and/or combination chemotherapy with or without radiation therapy or observation only work in treating young patients with newly diagnosed stage I or stage II lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin disease (LPHD). Surgery may be an effective treatment for LPHD. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as doxorubicin, vincristine, prednisone, and cyclophosphamide, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill cancer cells. Giving more than one drug (combination chemotherapy) with or without radiation therapy may kill more cancer cells.

NCT ID: NCT00106548 Completed - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

A Study to Assess the Effect of Tocilizumab + Methotrexate on Signs and Symptoms in Patients With Moderate to Severe Active Rheumatoid Arthritis

Start date: n/a
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This 3 arm study will compare the safety and efficacy, with regard to reduction of signs and symptoms, of tocilizumab versus placebo, both in combination with methotrexate (MTX). in patients with moderate to severe active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who currently have an inadequate response to MTX. Patients wil be randomized to receive tocilizumab 4mg/kg iv, tocilizumab 8mg/mg iv, or placebo iv, every 4 weeks; all patients will also receive methotrexate 10-25mg weekly. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months, and the target sample size is 500+ individuals.
