The Pompe Registry is a global, multicenter, international, longitudinal, observational, and voluntary program for patients with Pompe disease, designed to track the disease's natural history and outcomes in patients, both treated and not. Data from the Registry are also used to fulfill various global regulatory commitments, to support product development/reimbursement, and for other research and non-research related purposes. The objectives of the Registry are: - To enhance understanding of the variability, progression, identification, and natural history of Pompe disease, with the ultimate goal of better guiding and assessing therapeutic intervention. - To assist the Pompe medical community with the development of recommendations for monitoring patients, and to provide reports on patient outcomes, to optimize patient care. - To characterize the Pompe disease population. - To evaluate the long-term effectiveness of alglucosidase alfa.

Infections and Autoimmunity: Autobodies Screening in Multiple Sclerosis

The purpose of this investigation is to assess the prevalence of infectious disease seropositivity (toxoplasmosis, rubella, cytomegalovirus [CMV]), herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2), syphilis, Epstein-Barr virus and H. pylori in a group of patients presenting with specific autoimmune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis [RA], undifferentiated connective tissue disorder [UCTD], Sjogren, antiphospholipid syndrome - APS, vasculitides, systemic lupus erythematosus [SLE], polymyositis, Hashimoto, multiple sclerosis, primary biliary cirrhosis [PBC], etc.), using the BioPlex 2200 and complementary EIA kits as compared to matched controls (by age, sex and ethnicity).

Hybrid Imaging Modalities for the Evaluation of Infection

The synergistic value of the fusion of physiologic and anatomical data has been described using several co-registration techniques for various nuclear medicine procedures and morphologic imaging modalities (single photon emission computed tomography-computed tomography [SPECT-CT], SPECT-magnetic resonance imaging [MRI], camera-based positron emission tomography [PET]-CT and PET-CT). The researchers hypothesize that fusion of nuclear medicine (NM) and CT data acquired sequentially in a single imaging session on one device is clinically superior to side-by-side evaluation of separately performed imaging tests. They hypothesize that more accurate localization of increased radiotracer activity on NM procedures will improve the diagnostic accuracy for detection of infection and will subsequently have a significant impact on patient management. The purpose of the present study is to assess the clinical value of this new technology of fused imaging in patients undergoing diagnostic nuclear medicine evaluation for suspicion of an infection process.

The value of fusion of functional and anatomical data has been described using several fusion techniques for various nuclear medicine procedures and morphologic imaging modalities (SPECT-CT, SPECT-MRI, Coincidence-CT). We hypothesize that NM -CT data has advantages over the data obtained using separately performed NM study and conventional anatomic imaging as CT. We hypothesize that more accurate localization of the radio-isotope activity on NM images will improve diagnostic accuracy and will have an impact on patient management: Improved accuracy of NM study will improve tumor localization, the evaluation of the extent of disease and the post therapy follow up. It will direct other diagnostic procedures to lesions otherwise undetected, or exclude the need for more invasive procedures. It can also guide invasive procedures and radiation-therapy planning, thus improving therapy results and avoiding unnecessary treatment-related side effects.
