Background: Several studies have indicated that infants who had undergone postnatal painful procedures appear to be hypersensitive to pain, with a lower threshold to tactile stimulations later on life. Objective: To study the effect of early exposure to pain on cerebral somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) response to thermal stimulation (550C), in preterm and full term born adolescents (15-18 years old), who have undergone painful procedures during their neonatal period. As well as to study the effect of early exposure to thermal and tactile sensory thresholds and pain thresholds to thermal and tactile stimuli, by using the TSA and von Frey hairs. Design: Case-control study. Participants: Four groups of 20 adolescents (aged 15-18 years), two of which are full term and preterm-born who were exposed to painful procedures during the neonatal period. The other two groups are term and preterm-born adolescents who were not exposed to such procedures. Main Outcome Measures: Cerebral SEP response (P300, Medoc Ltd., Israel) to thermal stimulation (550C). Warm-sensation threshold (WST), heat-pain threshold (HPT), Cold sensation threshold (CST) and cold pain threshold (CPT) by using Thermal sensory analyzer (TSA-2001,Medoc Ltd., Israel). Pain threshold to tactile stimulation will be measured by using Von-Frey hairs.

The study is an open label feasibility study. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the ease of use of the Cervical ITR in terms of duration of attachment and number of detachments.
The fractures of distal forearm are the most common trauma in children. Sometimes one of the bones becomes shortened as a result of fracture fragments overlap. When some amount of shortening exists, concern regarding relationship of distal radio-ulnar joint (DRUJ) arises. The common opinion is expressed in one of the textbooks and is represented by one sentence, which usually one bone shortening is well tolerated, probably does not cause a problem, and does not have clinical significance. However, pathology of ulna plus or minus variants is well described and may cause ulno-carpal abutting syndrome or radiocarpal pain. This concern may lead to more aggressive approach in treatment of a fracture, with attempts to make an equal bone length. We did not find in the literature study that investigates this problem. We postulate that obvious shortening of one bone may cause an inequality of DRUJ and can be clinically significant.
The purpose of this study is to assess the effects (good and bad) of golimumab (CNTO 148) therapy in participants with active ulcerative colitis (UC) (sores in the colon).
The main objectives of the study are: To evaluate the performance and safety of the CiTop guidewire, while attempting to cross thru total occlusions of various dimensions and morphology. To compare the safety and efficacy of the CiTop guidewire with standard guidewires in terms of impact on the treated artery. Following operation of the CiTop device, angiography demonstrated successful crossing of the occlusion with no visible evidence of arterial wall injury, dissection, or distal embolization. To assess ease of operation and the level of integration of the CiTop with standard interventional angiography procedure: Balloon angioplasty, placement of stent.
The purpose of this clinical trial is to demonstrate the benefit of the immunotherapeutic product GSK1572932A when given to patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, after removal of their tumor. A course of 13 injections will be administered over 27 months. The Protocol Posting has been updated in order to comply with the FDA Amendment Act, Sep 2007.
This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of ocrelizumab, compared with placebo, in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis who have an inadequate response to at least one anti-TNF-alpha therapy. Patients will be randomized to receive placebo, 200mg of intravenous ocrelizumab, or 500mg of i.v. ocrelizumab on days 1 and 15. A repeat course of i.v. treatment will be administered at weeks 24 and 26. All patients will receive stable doses of either concomitant methotrexate (7.5-25mg/week) or leflunomide (10-20mg po daily) and may receive additional DMARDs. The treatment period is planned for 48 weeks (until primary analysis) and then participants will enter the open label phase until the drug is commercialized. Target sample size is 1000.
This trial is conducted in Europe, Asia, North America and South America. The aim of this research trial is to compare the efficacy of inhaled insulin to glimepiride and metformin combination therapy in treatment of subjects with type 2 diabetes and to verify the safety of use (hypoglycaemia, pulmonary function, body weight, insulin antibodies and side effects).
This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, two-to three center study. The study will consist of 2 treatment groups (Betahistine 48 mg/day or matching placebo). Approximately 30 subjects (15 per treatment group) will be randomized into this 6-week study. A single blinded placebo treated period of up to 14 days will be used to determine subjects suitability for inclusion in the trial. In order that a patient will be defined as valid for inclusion in the study, patients should be able to present consistent LDL-C values, taken prior to randomization (at screening visit 1 and screening visit 2), without deviation of more than 12% of each value from their mean. Within one week from the second screening visit, subjects who meet all inclusion criteria and none of the exclusion criteria will be randomly assigned to 1 of the following treatment groups: - Betahistine 24 mg BID (48 mg/day total), or - Matching placebo BID. Double-blind treatment will continue for 4 weeks. Study medication (betahistine and/or matching placebo) will be administered BID (before lunch and before dinner). During the study, subjects will undergo dietary assessment. The primary efficacy parameter is change in LDL-C from baseline (randomization) to Week 4 and the percentage of patients that reduce their LDL-C by 10% or more.
