Clinical Study to Evaluate Safety and Efficacy of KAM1403 Gel to Treat Radiation Dermatitis

The main purpose of this study is to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of KAM1403 GEL in reducing the symptoms of mild to moderate Radiation Dermatitis. Efficacy will be evaluated by comparing symptoms assessment during and post radiotherapy: erythema, desquamation, edema, moist desquamation and ulceration in the KAM1403 Gel treated group versus a group of subjects treated with the Aloe vera Gel (the control group). In addition, a comparison will be made between subjects' self evaluation in the treatment group versus the control group. Safety will be determined by the number and severity of Adverse Events Device-Related.

Measurement of Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness - a Biomarker for the Early Detection of Alzheimer's Disease?

The purpose of this study is to determine whether by measuring changes in the thickness of the retinal nerve fibre layer (the photosensitive layer at the back of the eye) you could predict if someone would develop Alzheimer's disease in the future. The measurement is made by OCT (ocular coherence tomography), a noninvasive and relatively inexpensive test that uses light waves to scan the back of the eye.

The Use of 5-aminolevulinic Acid (ALA) as an Intraoperative Tumor Marker for Resection of Pediatric Central Nervous System (CNS) Tumors

Surgery is the cornerstone treatment of most pediatric CNS tumors, including astrocytomas, ependymomas, medulloblastomas, and many other pathologies. In most pediatric CNS tumors, the aim of surgery is maximal tumor resection, while preserving neurological function. Extent of tumor residual has been shown to be a major prognostic factor for progression free survival (PFS), and survival in several malignant and low-grade tumors such as medulloblastomas, ependymomas, and astrocytic tumors. 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) has been shown to be valuable in intraoperative marking of various cancers. Following oral admission, during surgery, the tumor tissue is illuminated by blue light. Tumor cells tend to metabolize 5-ALA to a porphyrin named protoporhyrin IX (PpIX). PpIX reacts with the blue light and emits a pinky color (- fluorescence). This enables the surgeon to better identify tumor cells and perform a more extensive resection. Over recent years, many studies have proven the efficacy using 5-ALA for resecting various intracranial and spinal tumors, thus achieving a better tumor control. In the suggested study, we propose using the same technique for various pediatric central nervous system tumors. We will focus on the correlation between various pathologies and the fluorescence, trying to deduce the role of 5-ALA in resection of specific pathologies. Also, we will study the safety of 5-ALA use in the pediatric population.

Cord Milking and Activity Of The Immune System In Preterm Infants

In the embry life there is a passage of IgG type, from the mother to tha embryoyo and only in the age of 3-5 month after birth the infant start to develop them by himself. In preterm infants the starting point of the level of the IgG's is lower from the level of term infants. Delayed cord clamping /milking it was prooved in many researches as benificial in terms of : levels of hemoglobin; hematocrit and feritin in the neonats. Also benefits were proved by means of less need for blood tranfusion, less intra ventricular hemorrhage; necrotzing entero colitis and iron deficiency anemia. The hypothesis is that delayed clamping /milking it will increse the level of IgG's in preterm infants. The end point hypothesis is that delayed cord clamping /milking cause to less fever disease or hospitalization it the neonats.

A Correlation Between Hair Cortisol Levels and the Development of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

This observational study follows subjects who have been exposed to a traumatic event and are at risk of developing PTSD symptoms. Participants are recruited within six hours of a traumatic event, and, starting from the recruitment session, are then examined on six set points of time within a period of thirteen months. The examinations include both biological studies of cortisol in hair, blood and saliva, and psychological examinations and questionaires that assess the development and severity of PTSD symptoms. The novel method of sampling hair cortisol allows investigators to retroactively estimate the mean levels of blood cortisol during the tree months prior to the sampling. The study aims at further illuminating the correlation between cortisol levels both prior and following a traumatic event, and the development and severity of PTSD symptoms

Uraemic pruritus (UP) remains a frequent and distressing problem in patients with advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Calmmax is a new topical cream that was introduced recently by Calmmax Pharma, an Israeli pharmaceutical company developed a topical cream based on active plant extracts for treatment of skin inflammation. We intend to conduct a prospective, double blind, placebo controlled, randomized trial that will assess the therapeutic effect of Calmmax cream on UP in a cohort of CKD and ESRD patients.

Effectiveness of Controlled-perturbation Gait Training on Gait Rehabilitation and Fear of Falling in Individuals With Gait Impairments

Gait dysfunction often occurs following stroke, neurological or musculoskeletal disease, injury and surgery. One of the consequences of such deficit is an increased risk of fall and injury. A gait training regime that incorporates controlled perturbation has been found to reduce falls in elderly population but the effectiveness of such training has yet to be studied. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of specific controlled dynamic perturbation training, during gait, on gait rehabilitation, fear of falling and falling with gait impaired individuals. Perturbation will be performed using a specifically designed system that provides small, controlled and unpredictable perturbations during treadmill walking.

Perioperative Management of Patients With Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices

Data on the perioperative management of patients cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) is limited and published guidelines rely mainly on the experience of the cardiologists and anesthesiologists who manage these patients. Depending on the device type and patient's dependency, these guidelines recommend the intraoperative magnet use, reprogramming of devices or no action. Magnet placement on a CIED (very simple and applicable method) has become the standard approach in many centers, while CIED reprograming by trained personnel is required in most centers. Therefore, our objective is to compare in a prospective randomized clinical trial the safety of intraoperative magnet use vs. CIEDS reprogramming vs. no intervention (in the appropriate subjects)
