Aliskiren Trial in Type 2 Diabetes Using Cardiovascular and Renal Disease Endpoints (Core and Extension Phases)

The purpose of this study was to determine whether, in patients with type 2 diabetes and pre-existing disease of the heart and the circulatory system and/or the kidney, aliskiren at a target dose of 300 mg once daily (compared to placebo), on top of conventional treatment, reduces death and disease caused by the heart, the circulatory system and the kidney. AMENDMENT 4 RATIONALE (MARCH 2012) : Protocol amendment 4 served to address the data monitoring committee recommendation dated 14 Dec 2011 to discontinue study treatment in all participating patients. It also addressed the subsequent Health Authorities request to implement a 12 month safety follow-up period (actual duration was 9 months in average) post study drug discontinuation.

TELI COM - Telithromycin in Children With Otitis Media

This is a multinational, randomized (1:1), double-blind, double-dummy, comparative, 2- treatmentgroup study in children (age range: ≥6 months and <72 months [< 6 years of age]) with AOM.Subjects will be randomized to receive either telithromycin (50 mg/mL) oral suspension 25 mg/kgonce daily for 5 days or azithromycin (40 mg/mL) oral suspension (10 mg/kg once on Day 1, followed by 5 mg/kg once daily on Days 2-5, not to exceed 500 mg onDay 1 and 250 mg/day from Days 2 - 5. Matching placebo suspensions for telithromycin and azithromycin will also be dispensed to provide blinding for the different treatment regimens.Assessments and reporting of safety will be carried out at all visits.

A Study to Assess the Efficacy of Intravenous Bondronat (Ibandronate) in Patients With Malignant and Painful Bone Disease

This 2 arm study will compare the efficacy of intravenous Bondronat with that of zoledronic acid in patients with malignant bone disease experiencing moderate to severe pain. Patients will be randomized to receive either Bondronat (6mg iv on days 1, 2 and 3 and then every 3-4 weeks) or zoledronic acid (4mg iv on day 1 and then every 3-4 weeks). The anticipated time of study treatment is 6-12 months, and the target sample size is 100-500 individuals.

This 2 arm study will compare the efficacy of a regimen of intravenous (iv) and oral Bondronat with that of zoledronic acid in patients with malignant bone disease experiencing moderate to severe pain. Patients will be randomized to receive either Bondronat (6mg iv on days 1, 2 and 3 followed by Bondronat 5Omg po daily from day 22 to week 24) or zoledronic acid (4mg iv on day 1, and then every 3-4 weeks). The anticipated time of study treatment is 6-12 months, and the target sample size is 100-500 individuals.
