Female Sexual Function After Cystectomy

Cystectomy with bladder replacement, with or without urinary diversion, is the preferred treatment option for benign pathologies responsible for neurogenic bladder or sphincter dysfunction after failure of conservative treatments. This surgery has both the objective of preventing urological complications and improving quality of life. We know that women are especially affected by these conditions, as demonstrated by the high prevalence of demyelinating diseases such as multiple sclerosis in this population. Patients are often young and sexually active before the surgery. Despite the existence of validated evaluation tools since the early nineties, there is poor data exploring effects of invasive procedures such as cystectomy on sexual activity and quality of sexual life in female patients. Indeed, existing literature largely focuses on sexual function in male population after cystectomy for urothelial cancer. Data on sexual function after stoma formation in women with colorectal cancer show a significant change after the surgery, partly due to body image issues. We can easily suppose that there's also an important impact of cystectomy that may affect sexual quality of life. Thus, the objective of the study is to assess sexual function and determine factors that may influence sexual quality of life in female patients following cystectomy or urinary diversion.

The difference between these devices is based on the strength of compression and the knee maintain. The objective of this multicentre study is to collect data on the related clinical complications and clinical outcomes of market-approved Decathlon kneeMID500-STRONG700 products to demonstrate safety and performance of these devices in a real-world setting.

This is a Phase II, multicenter, open-label, single arm, PD study in participants with early (prodromal to mild) AD to evaluate the effect of a once weekly (Q1W) dosing regimen of gantenerumab on deposited amyloid as measured by change from baseline to Week 104 (primary) and Week 208 in brain amyloid positron emission tomography (PET). The administration of gantenerumab as a single injection of Q1W will be investigated in this study, to simplify the dosing regimen for participants.

The French Ministry registered the Fenestrated Anaconda ™ on the List of Reimbursable Products and Services (LPPR) by the French Health Insurance on February 2018 for a duration of 5 years, while taking up the conditions for carrying out the act recommended by the CNEDiMTS (Committee in charge of medical device review), namely the carrying out of a post-registration study for the renewal of the authorization. This renewal of registration is conditioned by the set-up of a long-term follow-up study of all patients treated with the Fenestrated Anaconda ™ in France. To do this, this study will be carried out in partnership with the Federation of Medical Specialties (FSM) and the National Professional Council (CNP) of Vascular Surgery in order to have the data necessary for the renewal of the registration of the Fenestrated Anaconda ™ from the registry called Datavasc developed by the CNP and available online on the FSM's electronic platform.

Initially developed in Japan for the treatment of endemic superficial gastric cancers, endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) allows resection of pre-neoplastic and neoplastic lesions of the digestive tract into a single fragment. It allows a perfect pathological analysis, and decreases the rate of recurrence of the adenoma to less than 2%. However, this procedure, which is technically more challenging, is also more risky (perforation rate at 4% vs. 1% for WF-EMR) and longer. Submucosal dissection is also more expensive in terms of equipment, but this difference can be offset by the cost of the high number of iterative colonoscopies required in patients who have had endoscopic resection by WF-EMR. Scientific debate is agitating the Western world1,2 and Japanese experts do not perform WF-EMR anymore, whereas no comparative prospective study has compared these two procedures. A lot of centers in France performed colorectal ESD even for benign lesions and nationwide data about safety and efficiency is required to confirm the place of ESD for treatment of large superficial colorectal lesions.
