There are about 36633 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in France. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Adherence to CPAP determines the expected benefits of the treatment. A dose-benefit relationship has been demonstrated for both functional and cardiovascular benefits. The first few days' use of the device are decisive in determining long-term compliance. In this context, daily monitoring of the data teletransmitted means that we can be more responsive to problems of compliance during the first few days of use; the contribution of telemonitoring can be very positive in a context of poor compliance. In France, compulsory health insurance coverage of CPAP treatment is authorised for patients aged over 16 with clinical symptoms and an AHI ≥15 events per hour and <30 events/h in patients with severe cardiovascular co-morbidity. These patients are often not very sleepy due to sympathetic hypertonia with a shorter sleep duration. They are at high risk of non-compliance. The IPIAM study specifically targets a population at cardiovascular risk and at high risk of non-compliance with CPAP treatment. The IPIAM study aims to involve patients in the success of their treatment via remote monitoring and to show that this approach makes it possible to improve the handling of alerts and to participate in the therapeutic support of the patient. Finally, this population also shares the risk of heart rhythm disorders. As part of a cross-disciplinary inter-pathology telemonitoring approach, it also makes sense to screen for cardiac rhythm disorders by wearing a connected watch.
The study authors aim to form a collection of video-clinical data in a pragmatic situation to enable the development of relevant AI algorithms (for both hetero- and self-diagnosis modes). The aim is to optimize management through early diagnosis (self- and hetero-diagnosis) and thus to reduce sequelae disability. The study authors hypothesize that some stroke patients will be able to successfully perform a self-test consisting of a few exercises dictated by an application on a smartphone or tablet and recorded on video.
It is a cross-sectional, without risk or constraint, monocentric study on the viability of the main bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in men who have sex with men (MSM). The main objective is to evaluate the proportion of pharyngeal, urogenital and anal specimens detected positive by nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) for Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Mycoplasma genitalium that contain viable bacteria in MSM.
The transport of biological samples is a key step in the pre-analysis process in health facilities and must meet quality requirements (NF:EN:ISO 151989) to ensure that samples are transported in are transported in good conditions. Still in the experimental stage, drone-based air transport is participating in the aeronautical revolution of the development of unmanned aircraft on board in all areas of society, including health. This first project, led by the Biology Centre and the INNOVABIO Biological Resources Centre of the CHU de CAEN in collaboration with the company Delivrone, will allow to evaluate the feasibility in real condition of the mode of transport by drone versus transport of reference on the quality of a varied panel of medical biology examinations (biochemistry, hematology and haemostasis), on the safety of people (potentially infectious samples), on the control of the delivery time, on the control of the transport temperature (15-25°C ). The samples will be taken on 30 healthy volunteers with a total panel of 23 blood tests performed.
The purpose of this study is to better understand the natural history of Inherited Retinal Disease (IRD) and help inform patient management.
In an evaluation report dated 2014, the HAS (Haute Autorité de Santé -French National Authority for Health) highlights that long-term clinical data on hip prostheses are needed in the context of the French healthcare system. In addition, per the European Regulation 2017/745, medical devices manufacturers shall conduct Post-Market Clinical Follow-up (PMCF) on their devices or provide a justification why PMCF is not applicable. Therefore, as part of the PMCF process of their hip prostheses, SERF wants to conduct a PMCF investigation to ensure the long-term real-life performance, safety and benefits of these prostheses. HiPS is a non-comparative, prospective, multicentric, national, 15-year follow-up clinical investigation.
Over the last few years, it has been suggested that Knee Ostheoarthritis (KOA) incidence and progression could potentially be related to skeletal muscle characteristics. In particular, weakness of the quadriceps muscle would be a key determinant of KOA. However the mechanisms underpinning the influence of skeletal muscle in the pathophysiology of ostheoarthritis (OA) are poorly understood. Crosstalk between skeletal muscle and structures around and in the joint is of interest. In physical deconditioning and aging, it has been reported that skeletal muscle can be replaced by adipose tissue. Several factors involved in the development of OA but also of adipose tissue may be involved in these muscular changes. Of interest, in patients with KOA, quadriceps weakness is an ubiquitous clinical finding. Infiltration of adipose tissue in skeletal muscle has been shown to affect muscle strength and mobility and be linked to cartilage volume loss and the occurrence/progression of KOA. The main objective of this study is to compare the characteristics of the Hoffa tissus and the intamuscular fat (IMF) tissus in the quadriceps muscle in patients with gonarthrosis requiring total knee prosthesis. This is a single-centre study based on a collection of surgical waste and is categorized as Research Not Involving Human subjects.
The precise and noninvasive evaluation of disease activity among patients with Crohn's disease is not easy, especially for children. It deals with clinical, biological, histological and radiological parameters. Bowel sounds (BS) when evaluated by a stethoscope are modified by several factors including surgery, infection, drugs or intestinal inflammation. These factors can interact on intestinal motricity. There is a direct relationship between gastrointestinal motility and characteristics of BW. The study of BS using a stethoscope is a simple method, although operator dependent and subjective, with a wide inter and intraindividual variability. Some studies among adults showed interest in the spectral analysis of BS to assess gastrointestinal motility. This more precise and reproducible method is not operator dependent. To date, no such study has evaluated the correlation between disease activity and the spectral pattern of BS. of this project is to assess the correlation between disease activity and the spectral pattern of BS in pediatric Crohn's disease.
Night shift work is well known to cause health disruption in short and long term. It has been reported that among healthcare workers, nurses slept less than 6 h/24h. Consequences of such short sleep duration has been associated to long term issues such as endothelial dysfunction associated with cardiovascular diseases, arterial hypertension and type 2 diabetes. Countermeasures such as nap at work has potential effects on reducing the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases. However, to our knowledge, no studies have objectively investigated the effects of napping on endothelial function in a longitudinal design. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effect of a 30 minutes on-duty nap during night work for 12 weeks on caregivers endothelial dysfunction.
Main objective: For a bimodal fitting (hearing aid (HA) + cochlear implant (CI)): Comparison of a tonotopy based fitting strategy (TFS4) to a default fitting strategy (FS4) for the speech recognition in noise. Secondary objectives: Comparison of TFS4 to FS4 for speech recognition in quiet. Comparison of TFS4 to FS4 for the auditory skills experienced by the subject.
