Effect of Green Tea Supplementation in Older Adult Women

Introduction: One of the consequences of aging is the decrease in physical performance which can affect the quality of life of older people. Although physical exercise is beneficial in improving this problem, older women do not seem to benefit as much as men. In this sense, the use of ergonomic aids by women could compensate for these issues. Thus, green tea has shown beneficial effects on physical performance in athletes through, among others, improving blood flow and vasodilation, mitochondrial respiration, calcium management, glucose and amino acid uptake, lipid oxidation, modulation of muscle damage, antioxidant effect, and anabolic and catabolic hormones, activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, etc. Therefore, the deterioration of physical performance and quality of life of green tea. Objective: To analyze the effect of supplementation with 1 g/day green tea extract (500 mg of polyphenols) for 10 weeks on quality of life values, physical performance (grip strength, walking speed, and resistance), and health biomarkers (biochemical, hematological, and hormonal) in women over 60 years of age who follow a physical training program. Methods: A total of 20 female volunteers between 60 and 73 years old (age: 65.9±4.58 years, BMI: 25.09±3.24 and body fat percentage: 32.54±6.39) who followed a physical activity adapted to their age and abilities are the members of this study. The volunteers were divided into two groups: placebo (CG; n = 10) and supplemented with 1 g/day of green tea (GI; n = 10). Different physical tests were performed (grip strength, walking speed and resistance) and the quality of life questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF) was passed and health biomarkers (biochemical, hematological, and hormonal) were analyzed at the beginning (T1) and at the end of the 10 weeks of intervention (T2).

Oral Bioavailability of a New Formulation of Pterostilbene Cocrystal in Comparison With Its Free Form (BIOPTERO2)

The goal of this interventional study is to to evaluate the oral bioavailability of the crystallized form of pterostilbene (ccPT) compared to its commercial free base form (pterostilbene (PT) in healthy volunteers. The main question it aims to answer are: • Do the crystallized forms of pterostilbene (ccPT) using two different encapsulation methods exhibit greater bioavailability than its commercial free base form (PT)? Participants will attend to four visits: a preselection visit (V0), a visit for the first postprandial study (V1), a visit for the second postprandial study (V2) after one-week washing period and a visit for the third postprandial study (V3) after another one week washing period. Researchers will analyze the three postprandial assays to determine which type of ccPT encapsulation provides the highest bioavailability compared to the commercial free base form (PT).

Study of the Efficacy of GGON: a Cognitive Training App for Orthorexia Nervosa.

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the efficacy of GGON to decrease the maladaptive beliefs associated with orthorexia nervosa (ON) in non-clinical adult population. Specifically, a randomized controlled trial with crossover assignment design and two groups (experimental and control) will be carried out in adults aged 18-65 years to assess the changes pre and post use the app. It's expected that after the use of the GGON app for 15 days are, at the primary level: decrease in the degree of ascription to dysfunctional beliefs associated with ON; and at the secondary level: decrease in orthorexia nervosa symptomatology, in eating symptomatology and in obsessive beliefs; increase in self-esteem; and no changes in drepessive symptomatology. These results are also expected to be maintained in subsequent follow-ups, at 15 days and a month after to finish the app in experimental group, and 15 days after to finish the app in control group.

Effectiveness of Non-invasive Phrenic Nerve Neuromodulation in Subjects With Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Neck Pain.

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are chronic relapsing diseases that generate an autoimmune response against the bowel and its microbiota. Its prevalence is increasing worldwide. These include Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and Crohn's Disease(CD). The Phrenic nerve originates at the roots C3-C4-C5 carrying motor and sensory information. Directly or through connections it innervates the diaphragm, pleura, right atrium, pericardium, oesophagus, peritoneum, stomach, falciform and coronary ligaments of the liver, Glisson's capsule, hepatic and inferior vena cava, liver (parenchyma), gallbladder and the rest of the biliary tract, pancreas, small intestine and adrenal glands. It also has fibres of the autonomic nervous system. Studies show that there is a link between people suffering from IBD and hepatopancreato-biliary diseases. It can therefore generate referred pain to the C3-C4-C5 dermatomes. Based on the above, the main objective would be to analyse whether non-invasive neuromodulation of the Phrenic nerve reduces neck pain in people with IBD. Secondary objectives were to assess the impact of treatment on quality of life and to study the relationship between IBD and cervical pain. Hypothesis: Non-invasive Phrenic nerve neuromodulation in subjects suffering from inflammatory bowel disease and neck pain will improve their quality of live, disability and sensitisation, as well as neck pain and mobility.

Effect of Mirror Therapy on Post-Needling Pain Following Deep Dry Needling of Myofascial Trigger Point in Lateral Elbow Pain

The goal of this randomized, controlled pilot trial is to investigate the immediate effects of incorporating Mirror Visual Feedback Therapy (MFT) on pain sensitivity and motor performance in individuals experiencing Post-needling pain associated with lateral elbow pain. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Does incorporating Mirror Visual Feedback Therapy reduce Post-needling pain intensity? - Does incorporating Mirror Visual Feedback Therapy improve pressure pain threshold? - Does incorporating Mirror Visual Feedback Therapy improve maximum grip strenght? Participants will be asked to undergo pre- and post-treatment evaluations, which include assessments of Post-needling pain intensity, pressure pain threshold, two-point discrimination threshold, and maximum hand grip strength. Participants in the Experimental Group will receive Deep Dry Needling in the m. Brachioradialis, Ischemic Compression, Cold Spray, Stretching, and Mirror Visual Feedback Therapy. Those in the Control Group will not receive Mirror Visual Feedback Therapy. Researchers will compare the Experimental Group to the Control Group to see if the incorporation of Mirror Visual Feedback Therapy results in a reduction in Post-needling pain intensity and improvement in pressure pain threshold.

Prevalence and Impact of Pertussis and RSV on Asthma Severity and Control

The main objective is to estimate the annual symptomatic incidence of Bordetella pertussis and RSV infections in patients aged 18 years and over with asthma, which will be identified by PCR, for Bordetella pertussis and by PCR for RSV performed at a specific timepoint from onset of symptoms for each symptomatic Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI). A multicentre prospective cohort study will be undertaken in Spain. Thirty-five centres from different autonomous communities in Spain will participate in the study. Participants will be asked to report to the investigator if they experience an asthma exacerbation or symptoms of acute respiratory infection with 2 years follow up

Effectiveness of the Use of the Nintendo Switch Combined With Conventional Therapy in People With Acquired Brain Injury

Purpose: to observe the possible benefits produced by conventional therapy through virtual reality with the Nintendo Switch to try to improve motivation and increase the degree of care satisfaction. The aim is to improve postural control in both seated and standing positions and to maintain and improve cognitive capacity. Material and methods: one group (experimental group) will receive a total of 8 one-hour sessions or 16 half-hour sessions, depending on their individual needs, for 8 weeks using the Nintendo Switch. The other group (control group) will continue to receive their conventional scheduled therapy. Measures: Abilhand, MEC-Lobo, FIST, Fugl-Meyer, Berg Balance Scale and CSQ-8.

The goal of this observational study is to assess the natriuretic effect of intravenous acetazolamide in patients admitted with heart failure and persistent congestion despite treatment with intravenous furosemide and sodium-glucose cotransporter type 2 (iSGLT2) inhibitors. The main question it aims to answer is whether there is a difference in natriuresis 48 hours after acetazolamide association to medical treatment recommended by the guidelines (furosemide and ISGLT2).
