Predictive Models of Readmission in Heart Failure

This is a prospective nested case-control study. Our goals are to create predictive models to readmissions for heart failure and also to define profiles for patients who are readmitted during the first month after the index episode. Patients who will be admitted in five hospitals in spain by the reason of a heart failure will be recruited during 18 months. Those who will be readmitted in a hospital up to a month after the index episode will be considered cases. Controls will be selected from the initial cohort of hospitalized patients.

Diaphragmatic Myofascial Release in Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

This study is a double blinded randomized clinical trial with two arms which aims to study the effects of diaphragmatic myofascial release in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD has become in the last decades a common disease at the occidental world affecting between 10 to 15% of this population. That implies a high socio-health cost and the decline of the quality of life of those patients. The diaphragm muscle surrounds the lower esophageal sphincter, and helps to prevent gastroesophageal reflux. If one or both structures become incompetent, it may appear GERD. Until the moment, the treatment for GERD begins by lifestyle modification, and if it fails, the treatment becomes medical and, in selected cases, surgical. It exists some studies that have demonstrate that diaphragmatic breathing training can have a positive effect in GERD and the need of drug usage. But until the moment, the effects of a myofascial release of the diaphragm haven't been explored on these patients. Thirty patients with GERD referred from different hospitals of Valencia will be randomized into two groups: - Intervention with myofascial release for the diaphragm - Sham treatment group which is going to receive the same number of session treatments with the same manual techniques, but without the myofascial stimulus The protocol that will be applied consists of 4 identical sessions of myofascial release techniques aimed to normalize the myofascial tension of the diaphragmatic muscle. These sessions will be distributed in two weeks. The study focuses on the analysis of the following variables: - Frequency and intensity of the symptoms of GERD: Reflux Disease Questionnaire (RDQ) - Specific quality of life for gastrointestinal disease: Gastrointestinal Quality of life Index (GIQLI) - Drug usage: weekly milligrams usage of proton pomp inhibitors (PPI) The results of these pre-intervention and post-intervention variables will be compared between the two groups at baseline (first session), at week 3 and at week 6.

Early Detection of Cardiovascular Changes After Radiotherapy for Breast Cancer

Breast cancer (BC) radiotherapy leads to coincidental radiation of the heart, resulting in increased risk of a variety of heart diseases. Identifying BC patients with the highest risk of radiation-induced cardiac complications is crucial for developing strategies for primary and secondary prevention. Little has been done on the relationship between dose distribution to different anatomical cardiac structures during radiotherapy and early cardiovascular changes that may lead to cardiac complications. In the framework of the European project MEDIRAD, the EARLY-HEART multicenter prospective cohort was launched in August 2017, involving 5 investigating centers from France, Netherlands, Germany, Spain and Portugal. With 250 BC patients prospectively followed for 2 years, the main objective is to identify and validate the most important cardiac imaging (echocardiography, computed tomography coronary angiography, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging) and circulating biomarkers of radiation-induced cardiovascular changes arising in the first 2 years after BC radiotherapy.

This is a Phase 1/1b Study to Evaluate Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of AMG 596 monotherapy or in combination with AMG 404 in Subjects with Glioblastoma or Malignant Glioma Expressing Mutant Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Variant III (EGFRvIII). This is a first in human (FIH), open-label, sequential-dose-escalation study in subjects with EGFRvIII-positive glioblastoma or malignant glioma. This study will enroll 2 groups of subjects according to disease stage, recurrent disease (Group 1) and maintenance treatment after SoC in newly diagnosed disease (Group 2).
