To assess the efficacy and safety of the use of probiotics as food supplements in reducing the SCORAD index in children with atopic skin compared with placebo. This is a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical trial with 2 parallel groups, which will include 32 patients who attend some of the research centers. Patients will be randomized into one of the 2 study groups (allocation ratio 1: 1): Experimental group (Lactobacillus rhamnosus LRa05) and placebo group (placebo). The reduction of the SCORAD index, the number of sprouts in 12 weeks, the days of use of topical corticosteroids and one valuations of the skin condition (hydration).
The study involves the planned use of a new microwave-based device during colonoscopy procedures in 50 patients to assess the performance and safety of its use for detection of colorectal polyps and lack of normal clinical practice modification. The device is a final design version, which has been previously tested in several preclinical studies (including phantom studies, an ex vivo study with human tissues, and an in vivo study with porcine model) and in a pilot study in humans (NCT05477836)
Resistant starch partially resists hydrolyzation by digestive enzymes in humans. Consequently, it is not absorbed in the small intestine and goes directly to the large intestine, where it is fermented by the intestinal microbiota, acting as a prebiotic and stimulating the growth of beneficial bacteria in the colon. In addition, the effect of resistant starch on postprandial glucose metabolism is studying. Thus, the present research on healthy subjects has been proposed. The main objective is to assess the effect on postprandial glycemia of eating a pasta dish made with resistant starch versus its original version. For this purpose, a randomized, double blind crossover study has been designed. Target sample size is 18 subjects.
This prospective longitudinal study will follow participants with Multifocal Motor Neuropathy over time and collect data on their clinical outcomes, quality of life, and use of health care resources. Participants will follow their regular visit schedule with their treating physician, except for an optional second visit occurring 7 to 14 days after the start of the study to collect biomarker data. No IMP will be administered.
The purpose of this investigation is to study the feasibility and inflammatory response of surgery for rectus muscles using a small single bulbar conjunctival incision posterior and parallel to the muscle insertion. Patients requiring surgery of at least one rectus muscle with several diagnoses, operated under general or topical / sub-Tenon's anesthesia, who had no previous eye muscle surgery, will be recruited. Routinary clinical ophthalmological examination will be carried out. After applying a 5-0 PGA traction suture, a 3-4 mm single conjunctival incision posterior and parallel to the rectus muscle insertion will be done. A hang-back recession with 6-0 PGA suture will be carried out, and the conjunctiva closed by an 8-0 PGA single stitch. The main outcome measure will be duration of swelling and hemorrhage, and secondary outcome measure will be motor outcome at 2 months after surgery.
Study WP44714 is a Phase I/II, open-label, non-randomized, global, multicenter, multiple-ascending dose (MAD) study in adult and adolescent male participants with severe or moderate hemophilia A with or without factor VIII (FVIII) inhibitors. The aim is to investigate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, immunogenicity, and efficacy of multiple ascending doses of NXT007.
This is a Phase 2/3, multi-arm, multi-stage, open-label study of human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-A*02:01 negative participants with metastatic uveal melanoma (MUM) who will be randomized to receive either IDE196 + crizotinib or investigator's choice of treatment (pembrolizumab, ipilimumab + nivolumab, or dacarbazine).
HLA-DQA1*05 variant carriers are at risk of developing antibodies against infliximab and adalimumab with reduced TNF antagonist persistence. The impact of proactive therapeutic drug monitoring (PTDM) on this association has been barely assessed. Therefor, we propose a cohort study including adult patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis treated with TNF antagonists under proactive therapeutic drug monitoring. Our hypothesis is that, proactive therapeutic drug monitoring could be an alternative to combination treatment with immunomodulators to increase TNF-antagonists' persistence in HLA-DQA1*05 carriers.
Hypertension is a frequent condition affecting 11M Spanish citizens and is the leading modifiable contributor to cardiovascular disease and death. Our society has already identified balanced diet, physical activity and emotional wellbeing as the 3 pillars of healthy living. Healthy sleep should be incorporated as the fourth pillar, as clearly supported by the extensively available scientific evidence. Targeting sleep is considered the new frontier in cardiovascular prevention. In fact, recent scientific evidence encourages consideration of including sleep disturbances in the top 10 potentially modifiable cardiovascular risk factors. Sleep-disordered breathing affect 30-80% of patients with hypertension. The personalized management of hypertension is challenging due to; i) the misclassification of hypertensive patients (affecting 1 out of 3 patients); ii) the lack of adequate treatment of high mortality risk hypertensive phenotypes today is an unmet clinical need; iii) unawareness of the impact of sleep-disordered breathing as a modifiable risk factor for hypertension. Importantly, the investigators already made the seminal observations showing that the treatment for sleep-disordered breathing reduces blood pressure in the hypertensive phenotypes with the highest mortality risk. Given the need for novel strategies to treat hypertension and, supported by our data, the investigators propose to study and treat sleep-disordered breathing to improve hypertension control. METASLEEP will go beyond current state-of the-art providing a new paradigm for the accurate hypertension classification and treatment. This project will open up a new avenue on the therapeutic potential of the management of sleep-disordered breathing in hypertension.
The objectives of the project are to evaluate the theoretical-practical knowledge acquired and the degree of satisfaction of a methodology based on theoretical-practical training in abdominal and thyroid clinical ultrasound of family doctors, in the urban area of Primary Health Care, and to evaluate the benefit obtained by patients over 60 years of age included in the program, analyzing the degree of satisfaction, resolution time of the reason for consultation and decrease in the number of referrals to the second level of care, analyzing the differences by gender.
