The aim of the study is to validate a novel sensor intended to measure the wearing time of orthodontic elastics in patients with multibracket appliances. The newly developped sensor will be tested in 42 patients over a period of 6 months
The main aim of this study is to check if people with advanced solid tumors have side effects from dazostinag, and to check how much dazostinag they can receive without getting significant side effects from it when given alone and in combination with pembrolizumab. The study will be conducted in two phases including a dose escalation phase and a dose expansion phase. In the dose escalation phase, escalating doses of dazostinag are being tested alone and in combination with pembrolizumab to treat participants who have advanced or metastatic solid tumors. In the dose expansion phase, dazostinag will be studied with pembrolizumab with or without chemotherapy in participants with untreated metastatic or recurrent, unresectable squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck (SCCHN) and in combination with pembrolizumab in third-line or later recurrent locally advanced or metastatic microsatellite instability-high/mismatch repair deficient (MSI-H/dMMR) and third-line recurrent locally advanced or metastatic microsatellite stable/mismatch repair proficient (MSS/pMMR) colorectal cancer (CRC).
The Revita® system is being investigated to assess the efficacy of DMR versus Sham on improvement in Glycemic, Hepatic and Cardiovascular endpoints for patients with Type 2 Diabetes who are inadequately controlled with insulin therapy. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the efficacy and safety of the Fractyl DMR Procedure using the Revita® System compared to a sham. Subjects randomized to the DMR procedure will be followed per protocol till 48 weeks post treatment. Subjects in the Sham treatment arm will be offered cross over to receive the DMR treatment at 48 weeks and will be followed per protocol for 48 weeks post treatment.
Barlow disease (BD) is a common cause of mitral insufficiency. In 2012 the University Hospital of Basel started to perform a simplified mitral valve repair technique in BD just by implanting an annuloplasty-ring. It is hypothesized that the major mechanism of the valvular insufficiency in Barlow disease is a deformation of the left ventricle and the posterior mitral annulus, causing its aberrant displacement during the systole towards posterior and basal and thus impairing the coaptation of the leaflets. This prospective individual MRI study is to investigate the ventricle and the mitral annulus pre- and postoperatively for detailed analysis.
In light of the rapidly emerging pandemic of SARS-CoV-2 infections, the global population and health care systems are facing unprecedented challenges through the combination of transmission and the potential for severe disease. Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) has been found with unusual clinical features dominated by substantial alveolar fluid load. It is unknown whether this is primarily caused by endothelial dysfunction leading to capillary leakage or direct virus induced damage. This knowledge gap is significant because the initial balance between fluid management and circulatory support appear to be decisive. On progression of the disease, bacterial superinfection facilitated by inflammation and virus related damage, has been identified as the main factor for patient outcome, but the role of the host versus the environment microbiome remains unclear. The overarching aim of the present research proposal is to improve therapeutic strategies in critically ill patients with ARDS due to SARS-CoV-2 infection by advancing the pathophysiological understanding of this novel disease. This research thus focuses on inflammation, microcirculatory dysfunction and superinfection, aiming to elucidate risk factors (RF) for the development of severe ARDS in SARS-CoV-2 infected patients and contribute to the rationale for therapeutic strategies. The hypotheses are that (I) the primary damage to the lung in SARS-CoV-2 ARDS is mediated through an exaggerated pro-inflammatory response causing primary endothelial dysfunction, and subsequently acting two-fold on the degradation of the lung parenchyma - through the primary cytokine response, and through recruitment of the inflammatory-monocyte-lymphocyte-neutrophil axis. The pronounced inflammation and primary damage to the lung disrupts the pulmonary microbiome, leading secondarily to pulmonary superinfections. (II) Pulmonary bacterial superinfections are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in COVID-19 patients. Pathogen colonization main Risk Factor for lower respiratory tract infections. To establish colonization, pathogens have to interact with the local microbiota (a.k.a. microbiome) and certain microbiome profiles will be more resistant to pathogen invasion. Finally, (III) Handheld devices used in clinical routine are a potential reservoir and carrier of both, SARS-CoV-2, as well as bacteria causing nosocomial pneumonia.

This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of glofitamab in combination with gemcitabine plus oxaliplatin (Glofit-GemOx) compared with rituximab in combination with gemcitabine plus oxaliplatin (R-GemOx) in patients with R/R DLBCL.
Medulloblastoma is a rare brain malignancy, mainly affecting children. Treatment of this rapidly growing tumor begins with maximal surgical removal plus radiation and chemotherapy. Treatment toxicity is high. Post-pubertal and pediatric medulloblastomas are biologically and prognostically different, which mandates age-adapted treatment strategies. Patients after puberty bear an intermediate to high prognostic risk. This means that a large number of these patients, are faced with death and/or disability (mainly neurocognitive). Therefore, the scientific and medical need is high. One of the genetic subgroups of medulloblastoma, the SHH-subgroup (Sonic HedgeHog- subgroup), is highly overrepresented in medulloblastoma patients after puberty. This subgroup can be treated with a targeted therapy. The investigators will therefore randomize patients and treat SHH-subgroup patients with sonidegib and a reduction of radiotherapy dose in the experimental arm of the trial. The hypothesis that this personalized risk-adapted therapy will improve outcomes in view of increased efficacy and decreased toxicity.
Analysis of longitudinal data, cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging and health related data, of patients with heart failure and preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) over a timeframe of 5 years per patient. In this study routine clinical data are collected along with additional research parameters measured during CMR. CMR will occur throughout a 5-year follow-up.
This is an observational study that intends to compare falls or fall-risk related alarms derived from a three-dimensional sensor system with the clinical reality definded by attending nurses.
