There are about 9403 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Switzerland. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Background: Preliminary studies have shown that application of a prophylactic mesh during stoma closure reduces the incidence of incisional hernia at site of stoma closure. Methods/Design: The study will be a randomized controlled single-blinded monocentric study determining the 1-year incidence of incisional hernia in cancer patients undergoing ileostomy or colostomy closure with or without prophylactic non-absorbable mesh applied in the sublay position. Discussion: Prevention of incisional hernia at site of stoma closure will lead to an improvement in patients' quality of life and generating savings for healthcare systems. To date, no randomized controlled trial assessing the effect of prophylactic mesh applied during stoma closure on the prevention of incisional hernia has been published. With the present randomized controlled trial, we expect to demonstrate that the application of a prophylactic mesh reduces the one-year incidence of incisional hernia at site of stoma closure.
In this study at the Solothurn Psychiatric Clinic, the investigators compare the effectiveness and tolerability of antidepressant pharmacotherapy in three groups. In the intervention group, the physician selects and doses the medication for depression based on a pharmacogenetic examination conducted by a clinical pharmacist. In the standard group, the treating physician selects and doses the antidepressant drug without the support of genetic testing, in accordance with current standard practice. If after the first week of hopsitalization no adjustment to a new antidepressant is necessary, the investigators will monitor the progress of these patients until they leave the clinic in an observational arm. The drugs used are all approved in Switzerland for the treatment of depression. Classification into the intervention or standard group is made randomly after the first week of hospitalisation, if the treating physician deems it necessary to change or readjust the antidepressant pharmacotherapy. The probability of allocation to one of the two study groups is 50%. All study participants will be hospitalized for at least five weeks and monitored until they leave the clinic. In total, it is planned to include and examine 95 patients each into the intervention and standard group.
The aim of the study is to evaluate if intravenous steroid supplementation can provide advantages over routine analgesia protocols in terms of post-operative symptoms (pain and nausea), length of hospital stay, shoulder range of motion, function and patient satisfaction
The aim of this randomized study is to compare the safety and performance of EndoVascular Aneurysm Repair with ESAR using Endurant + Heli-FX™ EndoAnchor™ system and FEVAR using customizable grafts from Cook (Zenith Fenestrated Graft) and Terumo (Fenestrated Anaconda Graft) for the treatment of aortic aneurysms with short aortic neck (4 to 15mm).
This study evaluates KRT-232, a novel oral small molecule inhibitor of MDM2, combined with acalabrutinib for the treatment of adults with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Participants must be relapsed/refractory (having failed prior therapy)
A crisis situation leads to changes in life. During December 2019, many people contracted pneumonia in the Chinese city of Wuhan. On January 7, 2020, the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) was identified as the cause of this disease. Within five months, the virus spread around the globe and forced countries to restrict public life. Due to the high infection rates in Europe, a lockdown followed between March and April 2020 (except in Sweden). As the number of infections decreased, European countries began to gradually relax the lockdown from May 2020. The lockdown and the later stages of loosening have an impact on lifestyle. Institutions of higher education must also adapt to this situation and have switched to distance learning. The University of Applied Sciences of Bern (BFH), Department of Health Professions with the Departments (DHP) of Nutrition and Dietetics and Physiotherapy, considers the question of the degree to which nutritional and exercise behavior has changed. The findings provide recommendations for future crises for students and employees of the BFH-DHP. In order to achieve this, at the BFH-DHP two anonymous online surveys will be conducted.
The aim of the clinical trial is to investigate the characteristics of patients, who respond vs. not respond to exercise therapy for the nonsurgical management of femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS).
This is a randomized open-label multicentre Phase III superiority study of the effect of adding SBRT to the standard of care treatment on overall survival in patients with rare oligometastatic cancers. Patients will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio between current standard of care treatment vs. standard of care treatment + SBRT to all sites of known metastatic disease. The primary objective of this trial is to assess if the addition of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) to standard of care treatment improves overall survival (OS) as compared to standard of care treatment alone in patients with rare oligometastatic cancers.
Medtronic is sponsoring the Intrinsic Antitachycardia Pacing Post-Approval Study (iATP PAS) to further confirm safety and effectiveness of ventricular iATP therapy in routine clinical practice, following commercial release of iATP-capable devices. The iATP PAS is conducted within Medtronic's Product Surveillance Registry platform (NCT01524276).
The ADAPT system is a software that calculate a virtual 3D reconstruction of the femoral head without additional radiation. It automatically detects the used implant and its position relative to the femoral head, helping the surgeon to achieve an optimal proximal screw positioning in the femoral head. The investigators want to verify if with the addition of the ADAPT system the investigators can improve screw placement and reduce surgery time and radiation exposure.
