A prospective study to evaluate the feasibility of a new treatment algorithm to increase depth of focus after wavefront-guided LASIK correction of myopic refractive errors with the iDesign Advanced Wavescan Studio™ System and Star S4 IR™ Excimer Laser System. The purpose of this study is to determine whether wavefront-guided LASIK correction of myopic refractive errors with CustomVue combined with iDesign 1.3-PRESBY (presbyT-LASIK) treatments mitigate the effects of presbyopia by increasing the depth of focus compared to iDesign CustomVue treatments.
Many individuals with cervical spinal cord injury (SCI) have difficulty using their hands and arms. MyndMove is a non-invasive medical device that uses short, low energy electrical pulses with surface electrodes to cause muscle contractions to produce a full range of reaching and grasping movements, which the patient is unable to perform by him/herself. By using MyndMove therapy to help the individual move their arms and hands as he/she attempts to carry out typical reaching and grasping movements, the individual improves their ability to perform these tasks voluntarily. The purpose of this study is to study the effectiveness of MyndMove therapy in improving the ability of individuals to move their arms and hands.
This project will compare two MRI contrast agents in metastatic brain tumours in humans. More specifically, the investigators will compare the tumour contrast obtained using glucose versus the current standard gadolinium-based contrast agent (GBCA, gadobutrol, trade name Gadovist, will be used). First, participants will receive a glucose bolus injection followed by glucose enhanced MRI. Second, participants will receive a Gd-DTPA bolus injection followed by Gd-DTPA enhanced MRI. Both contrast studies will be performed during the same MRI study, which will be under one hour long.
The trial will utilize Nutraceuticals (Vitamin D 2000IU oral once daily, Vitamin B6 100 mg oral once daily, Vitamin B12 100 mcg oral once daily, Omega-3 Fatty Acids 900 mg oral three times a day) in patients treated with Docetacel as Neoadjuvant or Adjuvant Breast cancer Therapy. The trial is being conducted to see if the use of Nutraceuticals will prevent or reduce Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN).
The aim of the SEARCH-AF trial is to evaluate a novel diagnostic tool for detecting post-operative atrial fibrillation or flutter (POAF/AFL) in cardiac surgical subjects during the early, sub-acute post-operative period. The population includes cardiac surgical subjects who have either developed or are at risk for developing new onset POAF/AFL and who are at risk for stroke, as determined by their CHA2DS2-VASC (congestive heart failure, hypertension, age ≥75 years (2 points), diabetes mellitus, previous stroke/transient ischemic attack (TIA) (2 points), vascular disease, age 65-74 years, sex class (female)) score. These subjects must not have had a history of AF/AFL before cardiac surgery. The intervention group will undergo up to 30 days of continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring with an adhesive, patch-based monitor (Medtronic SEEQ™ mobile cardiac telemetry system or the CardioSTAT (Icentia Inc.) cardiac rhythm monitoring device). The control group will receive usual care, which does not involve planned cardiac rhythm testing within the first 30 days after study randomization. The primary outcome is documentation of sustained atrial fibrillation or flutter within the first 30 days after randomization. In addition, subjects in both groups will undergo 14 days of continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring with the Medtronic SEEQ™ mobile cardiac telemetry system or the CardioSTAT (Icentia Inc.) cardiac rhythm monitoring device at 6±1 months after their index cardiac surgery.

This study compares EG-1962 to enteral nimodipine in the treatment of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.
Helicobacter pylori is a common bacterial infection. It can lead to severe stomach problems, including stomach cancer. Researchers want to look at samples of the bacteria. These H. pylori strains will be taken from chronically infected people. They want to identify the genetic and epigenetic differences in H. pylori strains. This could help predict which people who get infected with the bacteria will get stomach cancer. This could lead to the cancer being detected earlier. It could also mean less people get stomach cancer. Objectives: To study genetic variations of H. pylori strains based on samples from chronically infected people. To identify the features of strains that might lead to severe stomach problems or stomach cancer. Eligibility: People ages 30-70 years who need an upper endoscopy or who were recently diagnosed with stomach cancer Design: Participants will be screened by the doctor who does their procedure and a study nurse. Participants who have endoscopy will have ~6 biopsies removed. These are tissue samples. They are about the size of a grain of rice. Participants will allow the study team to access reports from their stomach exam. Participants with stomach cancer will donate some of the tissue that will be removed during their clinical care. They will allow the study team to access reports of their surgery. They will also allow them to access the microscope slides of their stomach.
