EPCORE DLBCL-2
Start date: February 8, 2023
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

B-cell Lymphoma is an aggressive and rare cancer of a type of immune cells (a white blood cell responsible for fighting infections). The purpose of this study is to assess the change in disease activity of epcoritamab when combined with intravenous and oral rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin hydrochloride, vincristine, and prednisone (R-CHOP) or R-CHOP in adult participants globally with diffuse large b-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Change in disease activity will be assessed. Epcoritamab is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of DLBCL. Study doctors put the participants in groups called treatment arms. Participants will receive epcoritamab combined with R-CHOP, followed by epcoritamab or R-CHOP followed by rituximab will be explored. Approximately 900 adult participants with with newly diagnosed DLBCL will be enrolled in the study in approximately 315 sites in globally. In the Arm 1, participants will receive subcutaneous epcoritamab combined with intravenous and oral R-CHOP followed by subcutaneous epcoritamab in 21-day cycles. In the Arm 2, participants will receive intravenous and oral R-CHOP followed by intravenous rituximab in 21-day cycles. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the study at an approved institution (hospital or clinic). The effect of the treatment will be frequently checked by medical assessments, blood tests, questionnaires and side effects.

NCT ID: NCT05576337 Recruiting - Hypertrophy Clinical Trials

Neuromuscular Characteristics of Strict Vegetarians and Non-Vegetarians Women

Start date: May 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A strict vegetarian diet includes only foods of plant-based origin and, despite being able to meet the nutritional needs of individuals of different ages, when correctly planned, it commonly offers a lower protein intake than a non-vegetarian diet. Daily protein intake directly influences the turnover of body proteins (synthesis vs. degradation rates), being important for the maintenance of skeletal muscle mass, tissue that performs metabolic functions in the body and enables the performance of tasks of daily living. In addition, the practice of strength training (ST) interferes in muscle mass increasing rates, also exerting an influence in muscle quality, strength and power increase, which are associated with better physical fitness, quality of life and health. To make these increases possible, especially in relation to morphological aspects, a higher protein intake than recommended for the general population is necessary (1.2 to 1.6 g/kg/day), which requires careful dietary planning, especially when the consumption of meat, eggs and dairy products, which are important sources of this nutrient, is excluded. Thus, the present study has two main objectives: to compare the neuromuscular characteristics of strict vegetarians (VE) and non-vegetarians (NV) (Phase 1 - cross-sectional) and the neuromuscular adaptations induced by 16 weeks of ST (Phase 2 - longitudinal).

NCT ID: NCT05575089 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Bariatric Surgery Candidate

Inspiratory Muscle Training and Pulmonary Function in Patients Submitted to Bariatric Surgery

Start date: November 15, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Obesity is defined as a body mass index greater than or equal to 30 kg / m2 and represents a public health problem that affects the world population. It is associated with a higher frequency of cardiovascular, metabolic diseases, and respiratory morbidities, which affect the quality of life of patients. Its treatment comprises different strategies, however, due the conventional treatments, surgical treatment has been the most sought after today. Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of preoperative inspiratory muscle training in the evolution of respiratory muscle strength in patients undergoing bariatric surgery. Methodology: Randomized clinical trial. All patients will be assessed in the pre operative period and randomized into 2 groups: control group and intervention group. The main variables are maximum inspiratory and expiratory muscle strength (MIP and MEP), peak cough flow (PCF) and pain. Control group will perform proposed respiratory physiotherapy, aerobic exercises and use of incentive inspirometry, the intervention group will perform proposed physiotherapy, aerobic exercises and use of Powerbreathe for inspiratory muscle training. Both groups will perform 10 non consecutive face-to-face physiotherapy sessions ( up 30 days before surgery). After the surgical intervention, they will be evaluated on the first and 30th postoperative days in relation to the same variables and pulmonary complications. Statistical Analysis: Sample calculation performed through a previous study: 42 patients per group. After the intervention, they will be evaluated on the second postoperative day for days of hospitalization and pulmonary complications. Statistical Analysis: Sample calculation performed through a previous study: 42 patients per group. After the intervention, they will be evaluated on the second postoperative day for days of hospitalization and pulmonary complications. Statistical Analysis: Sample calculation performed through a previous study: 42 patients per group. Categorical variables will be summarized in absolute and relative frequencies (percentages). Information regarding numerical variables will be expressed as means, standard deviations or medians, and interquartile range, depending on the distribution of the variable. All variables will be tested in relation to their distribution. To analyze the results between groups will be used the mixed linear models and for intragroup analysis, two-way ANOVA (time and group) for the following variables: MIP and MEP, PCF and pain. Expected results: Preoperative inspiratory muscle training can maintain/improve respiratory muscle strength until the moment prior to surgery, thus better preparing the patient for the condition of surgical stress, in addition to decreasing the incidence of pulmonary complications during the hospitalization period and / or in the 30 postoperative days.

NCT ID: NCT05574777 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

Endoscopic Gastric Mucosal Ablation (GMA) of Class III Obesity

Start date: April 13, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is intended to investigate safety and feasibility of a new weight loss technique called Gastric Mucosal Ablation (GMA) that does not require surgery, but can be achieved using an endoscopic procedure. Previous studies have suggested that weight loss after vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) is partly due to the removal of normal stomach tissue suspected of having hormonal function. The study will investigate the minimally invasive treatment of obesity Class III participants by means of argon plasma coagulation (APC) in combination with waterjet submucosal injection using HybridAPC. As primary endpoint device or procedure related occurrence of complications according to Clavien-Dindo classification will be determined. After signing the informed consent the doctor and research team will determine if the participant meets all requirements for this study. If a participant is confirmed to be a suitable candidate additional tests will be performed prior to the first application of GMA to assess the health status of the participant prior to treatment. During the screening and baseline visit the medical history and the medications of the participant will be reviewed. After the treatments the participants will be followed for up to 6 months to assess the outcome of the GMA procedure.

NCT ID: NCT05570786 Recruiting - Pelvic Pain Clinical Trials

Subdermal Implant-bioabsorbable Gestrinone Pellet for Endometriosis Pelvic Pain Treatment

GLADE
Start date: February 13, 2023
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Pelvic pain is considered a symptom of multifactorial origin among which Endometriosis is the main gynecological cause affecting 5-10% of worldwide women in their reproductive years, negatively impacting their quality of life and work efficiency. Treatment of endometriosis-associated pelvic pain is challenging and there are surgical and/or hormonal treatments available with variable endpoints. Gestrinone is a synthetic derivative of 19-nortestosterone with anti-estrogen, anti-progestin, androgenic, and weak estrogen-like action. Previous studies show that the oral treatment with Gestrinone induced an improvement in symptoms associated with endometriosis but with adverse events such as androgenization and uterine bleeding. Parenteral administration of Gestrinone could be effective to treat pain symptoms secondary to endometriosis and minimize these adverse events. This study evaluates the safety and tolerability of subdermal implant-bioabsorbable gestrinone pellet use in women with pelvic pain secondary to endometriosis after 6 months of Gestrinone pellet insertion versus placebo pellet. PK profile of the gestrinone pellet will be monitored.
