There are about 10004 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Brazil. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, 29-day, multicenter study to assess the efficacy and safety of ruxolitinib + standard-of-care (SoC) therapy, compared with placebo + SoC therapy, in patients aged ≥12 years with COVID-19 disease.
Home visiting programs for pregnant women aiming to improve mother-infant relationship has received worldwide attention in the past 30 years. These programs are considered an important strategy to improve women's health during pregnancy, aside from improving child's birthing conditions and allowing parents access to tools which will nurture and properly stimulate their baby, thus promoting emotional and cognitive development. Objectives: The "Nurse home visitation program for pregnant youth" aims to promote infant´s healthy development, from pregnancy to the first months of life, in a high-risk population. Methods: Eighty young pregnant women aged between 14 and 21 years were randomly allocated to the intervention or to usual prenatal care program. The "Nurse home visitation program for pregnant youth" was developed based on Albert Bandura's theory of self-efficacy, on Urie Bronfenbrenner´s bioecological model, which recognizes the importance of individual and family inclusion in various contexts of social life, on John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth evolutionary theories of attachment, which involves the care practitioner addressing issues such as environmental health, life course and parenting, bond between mother and infant, and infant´s social and cognitive development. Neuropsychomotor development will be assessed at 3, 6, 12 and 24 months using the Bayley Scale of Infant Development. Brain development will be assessed via electroencephalography at 6, 12 and 24 months.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the stroke volume variation measured by both methods: transpulmonary thermodilution and electrical impedance tomography (EIT), during fluid responsiveness maneuvers and after fluid replacement in the immediate postoperative of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) patients. Patients will be hemodinamically monitored with the VolumeView set in combination with EV1000 clinical platform and the display of valuable volumetric parameters (Edwards Lifesciences, California, USA). Simultaneoulsy, patients will be monitored with Enlight Electrical Impedance Tomography (Timpel, São Paulo, Brazil). Hemodynamic data will be assessed at baseline 1, one minute after the passive leg raising maneuver, after PEEP increment, and after 500 mL of Lactated Ringer's (bolus infusion). Blood gases sample will be assessed before and immediatly after the protocol.
The Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome CoronaVirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) has been identified in Wuhan, China, which causes severe pulmonary complications and flu syndrome, which has spread rapidly to all continents. Approximately 25% of hospitalized patients require treatment in intensive care units and 10% require mechanical ventilation. The diagnosis is made by the molecular polymerase chain reaction test. However, diagnostic tests are limited. The clinical care of the patient with COVID-19 is similar to that of patients with severe infectious respiratory complications, consisting of support and oxygen supplementation. Several medications have been tested as remdesivir, a pro-drug nucleoside, which acts by inhibiting viral RNA transcription, although a recently published study has shown no benefit. China recently approved the use of favipiravir, an antiviral used for influenza, as an experimental therapy for COVID-19. Hydroxychloroquine is a drug with great potential treatment, as it can inhibit the pH-dependent steps of replication of various viruses, with a potent effect on SARS-CoV infection and spread. In this way, the present study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of the hydroxychloroquine in patients with symptomatic SARS-Cov2.
A randomized pilot study to evaluate safety and efficacy endpoints for treatment of para-hisian accessory pathways according to two different strategies of lesion formation. These patients will be divided into 2 groups with different strategies of treatment: group 1 treated with radiofrequency (RF) ablation, group 2 with cryotherapy (CRYO). The primary outcome will be the recurrence rate of accessory pathway conduction after one year of follow-up. Secondary endpoints will be immediate success and rate of permanent atrioventricular (AV) block.
Phase-3, randomized, multicenter, parallel-group study with blind evaluation of endpoints and intention-to-treat analysis. The general purpose of the study is evaluate the non-inferiority hypothesis for ischemic events and the superiority hypothesis for bleeding events resulting from platelet P2Y12 receptor inhibitors given as monotherapy in comparison with conventional dual antiplatelet therapy in acute coronary syndrome patients treated with percutaneous coronary intervention in the context of the Unified Health System in Brazil.
The introduction of the laparoscopic technique for cholecystectomy significantly reduced the incidence and intensity of postoperative pain, with improvement in other markers, such as patient satisfaction, and reduction in hospital stay. However, pain in the postoperative period of laparoscopic cholecystectomy is still a concern that challenges modern anesthesiology. Ketamine and magnesium sulfate are two blockers of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors with the ability to reduce postoperative pain and postoperative opioid consumption. A frequent concern among anesthesiologists is the quality and time of awakening in patients receiving these medications The main objective of this trial is to compare the quality and time of awakening in patients receiving magnesium sulfate or ketamine. The secondary objective is to compare postoperative analgesia during the postoperative hospital stay. Hypothesis: Our hypothesis is that patients have a faster awakening when they receive magnesium sulfate as an analgesic adjunct, when compared to patients who receive ketamine . Design: this is a prospective, controlled, covered and randomly distributed trial.
This randomized blinded multi-center phase 2 trial will assess the efficacy and safety of anti-SARS-CoV-2 convalescent plasma among adults with severe COVID-19. Adults ≥18 years of age may participate. A total of 219 eligible subjects will be randomized in a 2:1 ratio to receive either high-titer anti-SARS-CoV-2 plasma or non-convalescent fresh frozen plasma (control plasma).
This study investigated the effects of the association of strontium chloride with photobiomodulation on the dental bleaching process, testing the hypothesis that they may control dental sensitivity post-bleaching teeth.
Children submitted to fetoscopic in utero myelomeningocele repair using the SAFER (Skin-over-biocellulose for Anternatal FEtoscopic Repair) technique will evaluate at 30 months or more, regarding ambulation, neurodevelopment, urinary and fecal status.
