Nephrotic syndrome is the clinical phenotype of a heterogeneous group of glomerular diseases that may present with varying degrees of urinary protein loss (proteinuria), dysproteinemia in the blood, fluid retention and impaired renal function. The AustRian RESistanT NEPHROtic Syndrome Treatment Response RegIStry and Biobank (ARREST-NEPHROSIS) sets out to achieve the following goals, as typical categories of rare disease registries 1. Obtaining real world data on practice patterns and outcomes 2. Networking between affected patients, families, and clinicians. 3. Establish a patient base for facilitated recruitment in studies of drugs, medical devices, and products 4. Development of a Biobank to enable research of potential biomarkers and therapy or disease courses

Efficacy of Real-time Feedback Exercise Therapy in Patients Following Total Hip Arthroplasty

This pilot cluster-randomized, two-arm parallel-group controlled trial, aims at enhancing the understanding of the effects of real-time feedback on functional deficits as knee valgus thrust, pelvic drop, and lateral trunk lean after total hip arthroplasty. Biomechanical and patient-reported outcomes will be assessed after a total hip arthroplasty as well as at three and six months follow-ups. The primary research question is, whether digital real-time feedback supported home-exercising improves the control of the frontal knee range of motion, pelvic obliquity, and lateral trunk lean, superior to exercising supported by written instructions as comparator. The secondary aspect focuses on potential differences between groups concerning aspects of quality of life, function, and physical activity. Tertiary functional outcomes between groups will be compared for reasons of quantification movement quality.

Influence of Pupillary Behavior During Eye Surgery on Morphological and Functional Outcome

Pupillary movement during eye surgery can be a challenge for eye surgeons. Despite the risk of intraocular lens damage and malpositioning due to mechanical manipulation1, iris manipulation may lead to a significant elevation of cytokines in the aqueous humor and an increase of postoperative inflammation2, 3. Iris damage is also known to lead to an increase of prostaglandin production which will not only lead to an increase of inflammation but also has an impact on intraoperative miosis4. This leads to the assumption that postoperative inflammation can be related to intraoperative pupillary movements due to the same leading cause of an increase of inflammatory mediators. Tracking intraoperative pupillary movements might therefore be a helpful tool for the prediction of postoperative PCME and could have an impact on therapeutic decisions after surgery.

The Effect of Increasing Physical Activity or Reducing Mobile Phone Use on Mental Health in Young People in Austria

Introduction: Data show adolescent mental health has declined in recent years, possibly due to increased uncertainty and loss of opportunities. The SPARKY study aims to test an at-home intervention which aims to promote autonomous healthy levels of physical activity and smartphone use, in turn reducing clinical mental illness symptoms and increasing wellbeing. Methods and analysis: Adolescents (14-19 years) in Austria and Germany will be recruited and randomised into one of three groups (physical activity, smartphone, control). The physical activity (PA) and smartphone time (ST) groups will be guided over 12-weeks to increase PA or decrease ST respectively. All groups will objectively measure PA using wrist-worn trackers and ST using an app and will regularly self-report on standardised mental health scales. Analyses will be run to assess the pre-post changes in mental health in the intervention groups compared to the control. Ethics and dissemination: The conduct of the trial was approved by the institutional research ethics board and written informed consent will be obtained from participants and the parents of those under 18. Data will be stored open access. Findings will be disseminated through conferences, media interviews and publications to peer-reviewed journals. Overall, mental health interventions are sorely needed in adolescents to counteract the effects of the pandemic and other uncertainties. The at-home nature of the intervention will promote autonomous healthy habit formation in youth.

2 Year Follow up of COSGOD III

The COSGOD III trial performed follow up until term age or discharge from the neonatal intensive care unit, whatever came first. The first neonate was randomised in September 2017 and the last in October 2021. A prospective follow up of the included neonates until an age of two years was not feasible in the COSGOD III trial since funding for long-term follow-up was not available. However, data on long-term outcome of the included neonates into COSGOD III trial are of high interest. In many centres, who participated in the COSGOD III trial neonates are assessed routinely for long term outcome in outpatient clinics with Bayleys III/IV test or PARCA-R (Parent Report of Children's Abilities) questionnaire. Aim of the present study is therefore to analyse in neonates, who were included into the COSGOD III trial, in a retrospective observational study routinely performed long-term survival and neurodevelopmental outcome assessment at a corrected age of 2 years (18-30 months).

Study of Opevesostat (MK-5684) Versus Alternative NHA in mCRPC (MK-5684-003)

This is a phase 3, randomized, open-label study of opevesostat compared to alternative abiraterone acetate or enzalutamide in participants with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) with respect to overall survival (OS) and to radiographic progression-free survival (rPFS) per Prostate Cancer Working Group (PCWG) Modified Response Evaluation Criteria In Solid Tumors (RECIST 1.1) as assessed by blinded independent central review (BICR) in participants with mCRPC previously treated with next-generation hormonal agent (NHA) and taxane-based chemotherapy. It is hypothesized that opevesostat is superior with respect to OS and rPFS per PCWG Modified RECIST 1.1 as assessed by BICR in androgen receptor ligand binding domain (AR LBD) mutation-negative and -positive participants.
