Filter by:The investigators hypothesize that high definition colonoscopy with close focus narrow band imaging features has a high diagnostic accuracy for colorectal polyp histology, and can replace formal pathologic assessment in cases of high diagnostic confidence.
To estimate the progression free survival for subjects treated with panitumumab in combination with a chemotherapy regimen of oxaliplatin, 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) and leucovorin (FOLFOX) as first-line chemotherapy regimen for subjects with metastatic colorectal cancer with WT (wild type) KRAS according to the IGFRp (protein receptor insulin growth factor) and MMP-7 (Matrilysin) expression.
The primary objective of this study is to investigate the safety and tolerability of the anti-vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (anti-VEGFR-2) monoclonal antibody Ramucirumab (IMC-1121B) in combination with irinotecan, levofolinate, and 5-fluorouracil (FOLFIRI) in Japanese participants with advanced colorectal carcinoma (CRC).
The purpose of this study is to assess the long-term outcome in a cohort of Gardner-Syndrome patients receiving prophylaxis and treatment for intestinal and non-intestinal tumors.
Based on the results from preclinical study, the investigators suggest that the addition of simvastatin at a dose of cardiovascular use (40 ~ 80 mg qd daily) may overcome cetuximab resistance in KRAS mutant colorectal cancer via B-Raf protein degradation and inducing Bim and Bad. Given the result of a phase II FOLFIRI plus cardiovascular dose of simvastatin (80mg qd daily) and this study, phase II study of conventional cetuximab treatment with 40 mg simvastatin is planned in metastatic colorectal cancer patients with KRAS mutation.
The purpose of this study is to determine the Maximum Tolerated Dose (MTD) of 4SC-201 (Resminostat) in combination with FOLFIRI and whether 4SC-201 (Resminostat) is effective and safe in combination FOLFIRI versus FOLFIRI alone in the treatment of advanced colorectal carcinoma.
A prospective, randomized and controlled study is proposed to establish whether an enteral nutrition support regimen based on pressurized whey protein and glucose improves the postoperative utilization of amino acid substrates compared to a drink based on glucose alone. The kinetics of protein metabolism (protein breakdown, protein synthesis and amino acid oxidation) will be investigated using stable isotope methodology before and after surgery in patients undergoing colon resection. Stable isotope infusions will be conducted one week before surgery and on the second postoperative day for two hours in the fasted state and for four hours while sipping the enteral nutrition support regimen. Patients will consume one of two enteral nutrition support regimens consisting of a drink containing either pressurized whey protein and glucose or glucose alone. It is hypothesized that an enteral nutrition support regimen based on pressurized whey protein and glucose promotes positive protein balance through increased protein synthesis or reduced protein breakdown compared to glucose alone.
Advanced colorectal cancer (ACRC) is a heterogeneous disease and classification of patients is nowadays inefficient. Roughly twenty per cent of patients present with favorable figures (less than 4 liver nodules and less than 5 cm) and are suitable for local treatments (surgery or local-ablative therapies). Additionally, 10-15% of patients have poor performance status (PS >2) or are severe disabled due to geriatric syndromes or/and co-morbid diseases that preclude any treatment strategies than best supportive care alone. The rest of patients (fit patients not suitable for radical treatments) constitute the population of patients treated with palliative therapies. Despite of it not all these patients have the same prognosis. Patients with PS 0,1 and levels of LDH <ULN (Intermediate-risk patients) have better PFS and OS irrespective of therapy in all randomized clinical trials (de Gramont et al, JCO 2000; Douillard et al, Lancet 2000; Koopman et al, 2007). CRYSTAL trial shows a benefit in PFS (1.5 months) in RASWT of FOLFIRI plus cetuximab compared with FOLFIRI alone. Nowadays the selection of patients for cetuximab treatment is based on mutational status of KRAS, which allow to select those patients who will not respond to therapy. Other surrogate markers of activity should be also evaluated. Our hypothesis is that the suggested biomarkers will allow the selection of the patients who will benefit the most from the biweekly cetuximab treatment.
This is a Phase 1 dose-escalation study with three dose levels to determine the maximum tolerated dose of REOLYSIN® combined with FOLFIRI and bevacizumab.
The Family Colorectal Cancer Awareness and Risk Education Project (Family CARE Project) is designed to determine whether a personalized telephone plus mailed print cancer risk assessment and behavior change counseling intervention is more effective than a targeted mailed print intervention in promoting risk appropriate screening in individuals with a family history of the disease. The project targets people residing in both rural and urban areas, allowing an examination of differential intervention effects with regard to place of residence.
