Amoxicillin and Metronidazole During Periodontal Treatment

MOMENT
Start date: May 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this multicenter randomized clinical trial is to compare the clinical, microbiological and immunological effects of the adjunctive use of systemic metronidazole plus amoxicillin administered in different phases of the treatment of generalized chronic periodontitis.

NCT ID: NCT02879903 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Chronic Periodontitis

Prevalence of Porphyromonas Gingivalis Fimbrial Subunit Genotype in Smokers and Nonsmokers After Periodontal Therapy

Start date: August 2016
Phase: Phase 0
Study type: Interventional

The aims of the present study will be identify 5 types of fimbrial subunit genotype strains in smokers and nonsmokers with periodontitis, before and after periodontal therapy. Third two periodontitis patients will be selected to these study, 16 nonsmokers and 16 smokers. Clinical and microbiological parameters were evaluated at baseline and 3 months after periodontal treatment: Plaque Index, Bleeding On Probe, Probing Depth, Gingival Recession and Clinical Attachment Level. The prevalence of P. gingivalis and fimbrial subunit gene strains will be determined by Polymerase Chain Reaction.

NCT ID: NCT02839408 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Chronic Periodontitis

Efficacy of Oral Probiotic and Antibiotic Administration in Patients With Chronic Periodontitis

Start date: June 2015
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this randomized placebo- controlled clinical trial is to evaluate the effects of Lactobacillus rhamnosus SP1- containing probiotic tablets and azithromycin tablets as an adjunct to scaling and root planning (SRP). Material and methods: Fifty-four chronic periodontitis patients will be recruited and monitored clinically, immunologically and microbiologically at baseline, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months after therapy. All patients will receive scaling and root planning and randomly will be assigned over an probiotic experimental (SRP + probiotic, n=18), antibiotic experimental (SRP + Azithromycin, n=18) or control (SRP + placebo, n=18) group. Probiotic will be used once per day during 3 months. Antibiotic will be used once per day during 5 days.

NCT ID: NCT02735395 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Chronic Periodontitis

Dose and Duration of Metronidazole and Amoxicillin for Treatment of Chronic Periodontitis

Start date: July 2011
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study was to compare the clinical and microbiological outcomes of different dosages of metronidazole (MTZ) and of the duration of the systemic administration of MTZ and amoxicillin as adjunct to scaling and root planing (SRP) in the treatment of generalized chronic periodontitis (GChP).

NCT ID: NCT02633462 Active, not recruiting - Insulin Resistance Clinical Trials

Non-surgical Periodontal Therapy and Myo-inositol in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Women Having Chronic Periodontitis

Start date: May 2015
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The Purpose of this study is to assess the correlation between the inflammatory periodontal status and the medical treatment status in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome(PCOS) women with systemic inflammation and to evaluate the effect of non-surgical periodontal therapy in the form of scaling and root planing along with medical treatment on the level of serological marker of inflammation (High sensitivity-C Reactive Protein) and insulin resistance in PCOS women with chronic periodontitis.

NCT ID: NCT02283736 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Chronic Periodontitis

Efficacy of Oral Probiotic Administration in Patients With Chronic Periodontitis

probiotic
Start date: June 2014
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this randomized placebo- controlled clinical trial is to evaluate the effects of Lactobacillus rhamnosus SP1- containing probiotic tablets as an adjunct to scaling and root planning (SRP). Material and methods: Thirty six chronic periodontitis patients will be recruited and monitored clinically, immunologically and microbiologically at baseline, 3 and 6 months after therapy. All patients will receive scaling and root planning and randomly will be assigned over an experimental (SRP + probiotic, n=18) or control (SRP + placebo, n=18) group. The tablets will be used once per day during 3 months.

NCT ID: NCT02168621 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Chronic Periodontitis

Intervention Study of Two Protocols for Non-surgical Treatment of Chronic Periodontitis

Start date: February 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Treatment directed towards the control of periodontal infections is to about 90% non-surgical procedures. There is evidence from a large number of randomized controlled studies that the efficacy in terms of clinical outcomes of a full-mouth ultrasonic debridement approach (FMUD) is comparable to that of traditional section-wise scaling and root planing (SRP). A hypothesis for the current effectiveness study is that comparable clinical effects will be obtained with the FMUD approach as with conventional section-wise SRP, but with significantly more favourable patient-centred and health-economic outcomes. This randomized study involves about 100 professionals (dental hygienists) and more than 850 patients at 40 dental clinics in the Vastra Gotaland Region, Sweden. The project not only evaluate treatment effects in terms of pertinent clinical outcomes, it also has a strong focus on patient-centered measures - patient-reported experience measures (PREM) and patient-reported outcome measures (PROM) - as well as health-economics.

NCT ID: NCT01906450 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Chronic Periodontitis

STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF PERIODONTAL TREATMENT ALONG WITH THE USE OF ANTIBIOTICS OVER HIGH SENSITIVE C-REACTIVE PROTEIN. RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED CLINICAL TRIAL.

Start date: May 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Human periodontitis is a group of highly prevalent oral inflammatory diseases and infections with relatively easy treatment and preventive features. The present study is aimed to determine if treating human individuals with chronic periodontitis, along with the use of antibiotics, reduces cardiovascular risk marker (HsPCR) and also intends to identify if severity of periodontitis could be associated with a raise of systemic inflammatory biomarkers on baseline.
