Filter by:According to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines, patients receiving high-risk or moderate-risk febrile neutropenia (FN) chemotherapy with at least one risk factor should receive prophylactic granulocyte colony-stimulating factors (G-CSFs). However, pegfilgrastim-induced bone pain (PIBP) remains a common and significant clinical issue without a satisfactory solution. Studies have reported that the incidence rate of PIBP is 71.3%, with severe bone pain occurring in 27.0% of cases. Currently, the available data on PIBP treatment are limited to case reports, reviews, and small randomized controlled trials. The NCCN guidelines recommend preventive oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or antihistamines as the treatment for PIBP. However, even with these preventive measures, the incidence rate of PIBP remains high at 61.1%, with severe bone pain occurring in 19.2% of cases. Severe bone pain can significantly impact the patient's health-related quality of life (HRQol), leading to potential refusal of pegfilgrastim administration and subsequent dose reduction in effective chemotherapy. Ultimately, this may have negative implications for tumor cure rates and patient survival. Based on previous literature, it appears that delaying the administration of pegfilgrastim may be associated with a lower incidence of PIBP. Therefore, our study aims to investigate the correlation between the timing of pegfilgrastim administration and the occurrence of PIBP.
The MyBrain study investigates the brain function of children, adolescents and young adults during and after chemo treatment for cancer. The tests include 1) cognitive skills such as memory and attention; 2) the brain's electrical activity; 3) and biological markers related to brain function. The aim of the study is to better understand the trajectories of cognitive functioning and measures that have been associated with cognitive impairment in patients treated with chemotherapy.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of a technology-based intervention for managing nausea and vomiting in older adults with cancer. Participants will be randomized to either an intervention or control group. Outcomes such as symptom severity, quality of life, and resource use will be examined.
Postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy followed by immunotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer has become a new treatment recommendation, but there are still many clinical problems to be solved in postoperative adjuvant immunotherapy. This study aims to explore the efficacy and safety of adjuvant chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy in patients with stage IIA-IIIA non-small cell lung cancer after surgery. Patients who meet the protocol and sign the informed consent form received 4 cycles of chemotherapy combined with camrelizumab, followed by maintenance with camrelizumab until one year or the disease progressed or unacceptable toxicity.

Nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy are considered by patients as the main side effects of cancer treatment, which affect the quality of treatment and life.At present, NCCN guidelines have recommended three or four drug regimens for highly emetic chemotherapy (HEC) to prevent vomiting, all containing dexamethasone.However, its side effects such as moderate to severe insomnia, hyperglycemia, dyspepsia, upper abdominal discomfort, irritability, increased appetite, weight gain and acne are gathering increasing concerns.For certain patients, the use of dexamethasone should be avoided.Analysis shows that olanzapine can replace the effect of dexamethasone.Hence, the investigators initiated this prospective, multi-center, phase III study to validate the dexamethasone-free protocol: removing dexamethasone from a three drug regimen containing olanzapine, dexamethasone, and 5-HT3RA.

This study aims to demonstrate the preventive effect of compression therapy using surgical gloves in chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are utilized for comparing the change in neuropathic pain between intervention and control groups. Among the PROMs, the neurotoxicity component of the functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-taxane (FACT-Tax) is used for good and poor outcomes between baseline and post-chemotherapy in paclitaxel-treated breast cancer patients.
The objective of the study is to investigate the effects of a 16-week combined qigong and acupressure intervention on reducing self-reported chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) severity, objective measures of CIPN severity, lower-extremity functioning, handgrip strength, fall incidence, and health-related quality of life post-intervention among post-chemotherapy adult cancer patients. This will be a 2-arm assessor-blinded randomized controlled trial that will follow the CONSORT guidelines. A total of 104 cancer patients aged ≥18 who have completed neurotoxic chemotherapy at least 1 month prior to enrolment and experiencing CIPN will be recruited and randomized into combined qigong and self-administered acupressure intervention and wait-list control groups. The intervention group comprises of twice-weekly supervised group sessions and three times-weekly self-practice prescription (30 min each time) on days without group sessions. The control group will be offered a free modality of their choice after the last follow-up. The participants will receive usual care alone during the study period.
