Filter by:The purpose of the following clinical protocol is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Lenstec Tetraflex Accommodating Posterior Chamber Intraocular Lens (IOL) for the protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria.
The purpose of this study is to describe rates of spatial distortions related to intraocular lens (IOL) misalignment for ACRYSOF® Single-Piece Toric NATURAL IOL Model SN60T9 when implanted bilaterally into the capsular bag following phacoemulsification in adult patients with bilateral cataract and regular corneal astigmatism. Subjects were implanted with the Model SN60T9 in the first operative (study) eye and either Model SN60T9 or Model SN60T8 in the second operative eye.

The LenSx 550 laser system is a femtosecond laser intended for use in performing anterior capsulotomy during cataract surgery. The anterior capsulotomy creates a circular opening in the anterior surface of the capsular bag that contains the cataractous crystalline lens. The objective of this study is to evaluate the ability of the LenSx 550 laser to successfully perform anterior capsulotomy during cataract surgery.
This study will involve up to 20 bilateral patients per surgeon. Patients will be assessed pre-operatively, and at subsequent visits (following the implantation of the intraocular lens in the second eye) at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months post-operatively.

Two very common aging-related diseases in older adults are Alzheimer's disease (AD) and cataracts. In elderly adults, these two diseases frequently occur in the same person. Although a cure for AD is currently unavailable, cataracts can be effectively treated with surgery in most people. The removal of cataracts has documented benefits for visual performance and for reducing accidents and falls. However, it has been the experience of the ophthalmologists, and others in the field, that patients, caregivers, and primary care doctors are reluctant to proceed with cataract surgery once an individual is given the diagnosis of AD. It is thought that cataract surgery will not improve the AD patient's quality of life, vision, and cognition. The investigators have designed this study to determine whether or not this is true.
This clinical study is being conducted to identify the most effective drug concentration and dose frequency of BOL-303242-X (Mapracorat) ophthalmic suspension, for the treatment of inflammation following cataract surgery.
