NCT ID: NCT03805373 Completed - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Validation of a Diet Risk Screening Tool

DRS
Start date: January 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is responsible for 1 in 4 deaths in the US annually. Nutrition is an important part of prevention and management of CVD and other chronic diseases, but only about 25% of patients with a chronic disease diagnosis (and about 12% of patients without a chronic disease) receive nutrition counseling from their physician. The investigators plan to validate a diet questionnaire in preparation for the creation of a diet assessment/ intervention tool to increase rates of nutrition intervention in medical care. The aim of this project is to test whether the developed questionnaire accurately identifies individuals at high nutritional risk compared to the Healthy Eating Index- 2015 (HEI-2015) determined by a validated questionnaire.

NCT ID: NCT03805009 Completed - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Efficacy of End-Effector Robot-Assisted Gait Training in Subacute Stroke Patients

Start date: March 19, 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To date, no studies seems to compare conventional gait rehabilitation program with end-effector RAGT in subacute stroke patients by analysing the variations of gait kinematics beyond clinical multi prospective outcomes. The aim of this pilot study is to evaluate the efficacy of end-effector RAGT in subacute stroke patients in terms of clinical outcomes and gait kinematics, comparing them with conventional gait rehabilitation program.

Improved Prediction of Functional Recovery After Revascularisation Using Combined Assessment of Myocardial Ischaemia and Viability by CMR - Pilot Study

Start date: March 3, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The study will investigate whether a new high resolution heart Magnetic Resonance Imaging scan, combining assessment of ischemia and viability by perfusion and Late Gadolinium Enhancement -Cardiac Magnetic Resonance is superior to Late Gadolinium Enhacement imaging alone in predicting functional recovery following revascularisation.

NCT ID: NCT03796156 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Aspirin to Target Arterial Events in Chronic Kidney Disease

ATTACK
Start date: February 25, 2019
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to find out whether people with chronic kidney disease [CKD] should take low dose aspirin to reduce the risk of first heart attack or stroke (cardiovascular disease [CVD]). CKD is common and is associated with an increased risk of CVD. CVD is caused by small blood clots and aspirin thins the blood to reduce the risk of such clots developing but it also increases the risk of bleeding. Aspirin is recommended to prevent further CVD in people who have already had a first CVD event (so called secondary prevention). Here the investigators want to study the use of aspirin as primary prevention in people with CKD who have not had a CVD to prevent the first event, to assess whether the potential benefits exceed the risks. Eligible patients will be recruited from their United Kingdom (UK) general practices and allocated by chance to be prescribed once daily low dose aspirin or usual care only. Follow-up will be for several years both electronically (for general practice, hospital and mortality data) and by annual questionnaires to ascertain CVD and bleeding events.

NCT ID: NCT03795038 Completed - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Comparison of the Plasma Lipoprotein Apheresis Systems DIAMED and MONET vs. the Whole Blood Apheresis System DALI

DIAMOND-2018
Start date: December 28, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The clinical Investigation will be performed to compare the safety and effectiveness of the CE certified and established lipoprotein apheresis systems MONET vs. DALI and DIAMED vs. DALI for optimizing the individual therapy of patients with severe dyslipidemia using established and novel efficacy parameters.

NCT ID: NCT03794531 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

Psychosocial, Environmental, and Chronic Disease Trends in Puerto Rico

PROSPECT
Start date: March 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The overall goal is to identify trends and longitudinal associations in psychosocial, food-related, and cardiometabolic risk factors that can guide public health priorities and future research needs aimed at reducing cardiovascular-related disparities in Puerto Rico. To this end, investigators will establish 'PROSPECT: Puerto Rico Observational Study of Psychosocial, Environmental, and Chronic disease Trends', an island-wide, longitudinal population cohort of 2,000 adults (30-75 years) in PR recruited with a community-wide sampling strategy, and assessed in a network of several partner clinics across the island. The study will collect comprehensive data on multiple psychosocial, dietary, and food-related factors, CVD biological markers, and medical record data, with follow-up at 2-years, and will assess variations by urban-rural area and by timing before-after Maria.

NCT ID: NCT03792607 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Network-based Approach in Type 2 Diabetes and Its Cardiovascular Risk

PIRAMIDE
Start date: February 14, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

PIRAMIDE study design will test the hypothesis that simultaneous interactions between DNA methylation and microRNAs may hit T2D candidate genes and predict the development of T2D-related cardiovascular complications.

NCT ID: NCT03790943 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Cardiac Dysfunction in Childhood Cancer Survivors

Cardio-Onco
Start date: February 13, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This multicenter, prospective cohort study evaluates early cardiac dysfunction in adult survivors of childhood cancer. The hypothesis of this study is that cardiac dysfunction can be detected earlier when using speckle tracking echocardiography as novel echocardiographic technique compared to conventional echocardiography.

NCT ID: NCT03785431 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Disease

Vascular Healing After Implantation of FANTOM Bioresorbable Scaffold in STEMI: A FANTOM STEMI Study

FANTOM STEMI
Start date: June 6, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study will assess the safety and performance of the Fantom sirolimus eluting bioresorbable vascular scaffold (BVS) in the acute setting of myocardial infarction with unstable lesions and thrombogenic milieu. This is a prospective evaluation of clinical and patient related measures in STEMI patient who undergo urgent primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with stent implantation. Patients with culprit lesions with 2.5 - 3.5 mm diameter and located in one of the main coronary arteries will be included in the trial and prospectively observed. The study will comprise 20 patients, who will undergo additional evaluation with optical coherence tomography (OCT) and near-infrared spectroscopy/intravascular ultrasound (NIRS/IVUS) at baseline, 6 months, 18-24 months and 36 months. The device will be delivered in sizes 2.5 and 3.0 in diameter / 18 and 24 mm and 3.5 mm x 18 mm in length.
