Sentinel Lymph Node Identification in the Axilla of Women With Breast Cancer Using Ultrasound and Iron Injection

This study evaluates a new method of testing the lymph nodes in the armpit of patients with breast cancer for tumor involvement. All participants involved in this study will undergo an injection of a small amount of iron dissolved in liquid followed by an ultrasound of the axilla that will make previously invisible lymph nodes visible, allowing them to be sampled in an outpatient setting.

Gut Microbiota in People With Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC)

Background: There are about 100 trillion microbial cells in a person s gut. This is called the human gut microbiota. When this is disrupted, it can lead to many diseases. Studies show that the gut microbiota in people with cancer is different than that found in healthy people. Researchers want to study links between the gut microbiota and the immune system in people with a liver disease called hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Objective: To study links between gut microbiota and the immune system in people with HCC. Eligibility: People at least 18 years old with HCC. They must be scheduled to have tumors removed by surgery. Design: - People having surgery for primary liver tumors at the Mount Sinai Medical Center will be screened for this study. - At the initial visit, blood, rectal swabs, urine, and stool will be collected. Participants will answer questions about their medical condition. - Before surgery, blood, rectal swabs, urine, and stool will be collected. This will be done at a routine visit. - When they have surgery, a piece of liver tissue with the tumor will be collected. This will be sent to the National Cancer Institute for tests. - After surgery, blood, rectal swabs, urine, and stool will be collected 3 times. This will be done at routine visits.

This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of talazoparib in treating patients with solid tumors that have spread to other places in the body and usually cannot be cured or controlled with treatment (advanced) or have spread to other places in the body (metastatic) and cannot be removed by surgery and liver or kidney dysfunction. Talazoparib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.

Correlation Between CT Perfusion and Post Y-90 TARE PET/CT Dosimetry

The purpose of this study is to see if it is possible to establish a relationship between the blood flow and blood volume of liver tumors from CT body perfusion and the radiation dose deposited in the tumors from the radioembolization treatment as measured by PET/CT. The study will do this by: 1. Measuring the blood flow and blood volume of tumors in the imaging data from a CT body perfusion 2. Measuring the radioactivity in the tumors after the radioembolization treatment using PET/CT and then calculating the dose deposited in the tumor 3. Using statistical analysis to assess the relationship between the dose and the perfusion parameters In addition, the research may help develop a method for calculating the dose of radioembolization to be delivered to a liver tumor(s) using blood volume and blood flow data obtained from the CT body perfusion scans.

Talazoparib in Combination With Gemcitabine and Cisplatin in Patients With Advanced Solid Tumors

In this proposed study the investigators will combine gemcitabine and cisplatin with talazoparib to determine the recommended Phase 2 dose (RP2D) of this combination regimen. After determination of the RP2D patients with lung cancer whose tumors carry molecular alterations in DNA repair pathway genes will be enrolled to an expansion cohort to determine anti-tumor efficacy. Tissue samples of patients with confirmed partial response, complete response, and non-responders will be obtained for whole exome, and transcriptome sequencing to characterize the genetic alterations associated with response to therapy.

Selinexor and Docetaxel in Treating Patients With Recurrent or Metastatic Squamous Cell Lung Cancer

This phase I/II trial studies the side effects and best dose of selinexor and docetaxel and to see how well they work when given together in treating patients with squamous cell lung cancer that has come back or spread to other places in the body. Selinexor may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving selinexor together with docetaxel may work better in treating squamous cell lung cancer.
