Tumor Recurrence After Abdominal-perineal Amputation in Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Anus

Squamous cell carcinoma of the anal canal is a rare cancer with an increasing incidence. It represents 2.5% of digestive cancers and occurs more frequently in immunocompromised persons, in particular HIV positive. It is a cancer that develops essentially locally, with only 5% of metastases at diagnosis. The reference treatment for forms deemed localized after clinico-bio-radiological pre-therapeutic evaluation is radiochemotherapy allowing a 5-year survival rate of about 80%. However, up to 30% of patients fail radiochemotherapy. Failure is defined as persistent disease (non response or progression in 10 to 15% of patients) or relapse (local or metastatic in 10 to 15% of patients). Salvage surgery by abdominoperineal amputation is indicated in this case after elimination of the metastatic character with an overall survival rate at 5 years varying from 23 to 69%. This complex and cumbersome surgery is burdened with significant postoperative morbidity with alteration of the quality of life. Investigators would like to perform a retrospective and prospective study in the Paris Saint-Joseph hospital group to evaluate the interest of abdominoperineal amputation in case of failure of radiochemotherapy in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the anal canal.

A Nomogram Model to Predict Central Lymphnode Metastasis in Thyroid Papillary Carcinoma

To establish and validate a suitable and practical nomogram for primary hospitals to predict the risk of central lymph node metastasis (CLNM) among thyroid papillary carcinoma (PTC) patients based on clinical and ultrasound characteristics among Chinese population,1000 PTC patients were retrospectively reviewed who underwent bilateral thyroidectomy or lobectomy plus central lymph node dissection(CLND) between June 2014 and September 2019 in Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital (Guangzhou, South China), and then LASSO regression analysis was performed to screen out the possible predictors. Another 200 PTC patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University (Zhengzhou, North China) who underwent bilateral thyroidectomy or lobectomy plus CLND between March 2019 and November 2020 were enrolled to construct the nomogram. The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves (AUC), calibration curves and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to evaluate the nomogram.

Clinical Study on BIFICO Accelerating Postoperative Liver Function Recovery in Patients With Hepatocellular Carcinoma

On the basis of previous studies, this study intends to explore the effect of BIFICO on liver function recovery of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after surgery, so as to provide a new method for accelerating liver function recovery of HCC patients during perioperative period. This project is an open, randomized, blank-controlled clinical study. Liver resection patients were randomly divided into two groups, one group received continuous administration of BIFICO during perioperative period, and the dosage was controlled according to the instructions. The other group was a blank control. Stool samples were collected at three time points (before medication, before and after surgery) in two groups. Statistical analysis was performed to compare the differences of postoperative liver function and preoperative and postoperative gut microbiota between the two groups. Through this study, the investigators aimed to verify the beneficial changes of intestinal microflora in HCC patients with BIFICO during perioperative period .

Magseed and Magtrace Localization for Breast Cancer

The aim of this study is to compare the efficacy of the Sentimag localization system and its tracer Magtrace, superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles, as a tracer in sentinel node biopsy in breast cancer with Tc99 in a single-center prospective study. The other part of the study will be the implantation of the smallest non-radioactive seed, Magseed, in the non-palpable breast cancer lesions. Another part of the study will be the implantation of Magseed in the positive axillary lymph nodes in patients diagnosed with clinically positive lymph nodes that will receive neoadjuvant systemic therapy.

This phase Ib trial studies the safety and side effects of a vaccine (PolyPEPI1018 vaccine) in combination with TAS-102 in treating patients with colorectal that has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic). PolyPEPI1018 peptide vaccine is used to immunize against proteins present on the surface of tumor cells. This vaccine can activate the body's immune cells, called T cells. T cells fight infections and can also kill cancer cells. TAS-102 may help block the formation of growths that may become cancer. Giving PolyPEPI1018 and TAS-102 may kill more tumor cells in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer.
