The Impact of Picture Narrative Format on Print Lung Screening Communication Outcomes

Start date: August 27, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to test whether a picture narrative format is more successful, than text with pictures or text alone, in communicating lung screening information (primarily defined by positive attitudes towards the design and increase in knowledge) to people likely to be invited to lung screening where available.

NCT ID: NCT04672265 Active, not recruiting - Cancer Screening Clinical Trials

Increasing Access to Breast Cancer Screening Among Immigrants

Start date: April 15, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators aim to test whether inviting immigrants to breast cancer screening with a letter in their mother tongue in addition to the standard letter in Norwegian changes screening uptake in these immigrant groups, compared with a comparable group who receive the invitation in Norwegian only,

NCT ID: NCT04527510 Active, not recruiting - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Remote Breast Cancer Screening Study

Start date: January 1, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

A multi-center, prospective, cohort study to evaluate the efficiency of breast cancer screening based on Automated Breast Ultrasound (AB US) with remote reading mode.

NCT ID: NCT04304404 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Risk Reduction Program for Women Having High Risk of Breast Cancer

BrCaRRP
Start date: April 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

An intervention program involving education, guidance, counseling, case management and surveillance based on the Health Belief Model will be implemented on women with high risk of breast cancer. The impact of the breast cancer risk reduction program on participation in breast cancer screenings, health beliefs (health motivation, sensitivity, fear of breast cancer) and behaviors (physical activity, nutrition, health responsibility, genetic counseling) will be evaluated in the study.

NCT ID: NCT04296630 Not yet recruiting - Colorectal Cancer Clinical Trials

Social Media for Colorectal Cancer Screening

Start date: August 1, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Using social media for health promotion is an innovative and emerging approach but remains relatively unexplored in cancer screening. Uptake of colorectal cancer (CRC) screening remains low and standard methods of reaching out are expensive with limited impact. The objective of this study is to conduct a cluster randomized controlled trial (RCT) to test the effectiveness of social media messages for CRC screening on screening intention (primary outcome). The results of this trial will be of interest to Cancer Care Ontario and are likely to be taken up by other screening programs looking for innovative and novel ways to increase screening participation. The study results will be easily translatable identifying the most compelling CRC screening messages while the approach can easily be translated to other cancer disease sites with screening programs.

NCT ID: NCT04162925 Completed - Cancer Screening Clinical Trials

Cancer Screening Utilization Rates and Cancer Screening Perspectives of Hospitalized Women

Start date: December 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Breast and colon cancers are commonly diagnosed cancers among women after skin cancer in Maryland. Patients' preferences for cancer screening are known to significantly influence utilization, and thus impact health outcomes. In a recent study the investigators conducted at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, the investigators observed that among women age 50-75 years admitted to general medicine services over 4-month period, 40% were non-adherent to breast cancer screening (overdue) despite being insured. Therefore, the investigators propose to establish a cohort of hospitalized women to help the investigators develop successful interventions for enhancing breast cancer screening utilization in this group. In following a cohort prospectively, the investigators intend to both reaffirm the results from the investigators' previous study and determine whether the patterns of mammographic screening improve over time as a result of the investigators' interventions. Among non-adherent (overdue) women, the investigators will educate and encourage these women to undergo outpatient screening mammography. To more comprehensively assess the preventive health in this cohort, the investigators will assess the cohort's adherence to colon cancer screening recommendation and barriers to colon cancer screening. In addition the investigators will also like to encourage the hospitalists and house staff taking care of these patients to perform oral cancer screen among women who smoke (non-adherent to breast cancer screening) Finally the investigators will also like to ask the perspective of cancer screening among these women.

NCT ID: NCT03480282 Completed - Cancer Screening Clinical Trials

Discussing Stopping Cancer Screening and Prognosis With Older Adults

Start date: October 3, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Guidelines recommend not screening adults with <10-year life expectancy for cancer; however, primary care physicians feel uncomfortable talking to older adults about prognosis. The investigators aim to determine whether providing PCPs with scripts on patient prognosis and older adults with information on their prognosis would be useful when recommending stopping cancer screening.

NCT ID: NCT03174444 Completed - Colorectal Cancer Clinical Trials

Small Media Interventions to Increase Colorectal Cancer Screening Among Chinese Americans

SMILES
Start date: August 15, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

There have been few studies of small media interventions to promote colorectal cancer screening among Chinese Americans. Based on the results of strong preliminary studies on the promotion of colorectal cancer screening among Asian American populations, this community-academic research team propose to develop a culturally and linguistically appropriate traditional small media print brochure and a novel small media electronic audio-visual application accessible through mobile applications and through a website to promote CRC screening in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. The team will test in a randomized controlled trial in 3 healthcare systems the efficacy of a combination of these small media interventions and a mailed patient reminder compared to usual care on increasing CRC screening among Chinese American patients.

NCT ID: NCT03096938 Recruiting - Cancer Screening Clinical Trials

Cell-free DNA Methylation Markers for Cancer Screening

Start date: June 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the role of cell-free DNA methylation markers in cancer screening.

NCT ID: NCT02306265 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy and Performance of Digital Breast Tomosynthesis Compared to Mammography

ADAPT
Start date: May 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this recruitment plan (ADAPT-SCR) is to collect image and other data on both digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) and full-field digital mammography (FFDM) from asymptomatic women undergoing screening mammography.
