A Psychoeducational Intervention to Prevent the Psychological Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic in Primary Care Workers

The goal of this quasi-experimental pragmatic study is to design, implement and evaluate a psychoeducational group intervention aimed at preventing the negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the psychological wellbeing and mental health of primary care healthcare workers. The experience will be carried out in real clinical practice conditions and our purpose is to evaluate it not only in terms of clinical effectiveness but, especially, the terms of feasibility, usefulness, and possibility of this intervention being integrated into the usual practice in primary care centers. There will be two types of participation and a mixed quantitative-qualitative methodology. On one hand, the healthcare workers that will receive the intervention and participate in the study by responding to various before and after online surveys with standardized scales. On the other hand, the community psychologists in charge of implementing the intervention, having received guidelines and training, will help gather the participants' data and will provide their perceptions, assessments, and opinions on the program through other questionnaires. After the intervention, a selection of both healthcare workers and psychologists will participate in qualitative in-depth, or group interviews to explore the nuances of their perceptions of the program. The results will allow the investigators to know the usefulness and effectiveness of the intervention and, above all, to model and improve its design and implementation strategy, and promote its generalization beyond the framework of this project.

Impact of Resident Participation in Post-ICU Follow Up Clinic

This study is being conducted to describe the impact of a meeting between patients that were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) and a provider that cared for the patients during the period of critical illness. The study team is aiming to describe the effect this meeting has on the physician that previously cared for the patient. The study team hypothesizes that facilitating involvement in post-ICU clinic and creating longitudinal relationships between providers of critical care and survivors of critical illness will have positive effects on trainees, both in professional fulfillment and burnout scores and in perceptions of critical care.

Integration Between Learning, Body and Emotions (I-ACE)

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the effectiveness of training on non-pharmacological therapies (NPT) for people with dementia (PWD) on professional caregivers burnout and well-being in the relationship between caregivers and people with dementia (PWD) living in nursing home. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Does I-ACE training, that includes a training in the emotional-behavioral reading of body language and the recognition of one's own emotions and those of others, reduces professional caregiver burnout? - Does I-ACE training improves the ability to understand and respond to the emotions of the other starting from the signals expressed by the eyes, the activation of the predisposition to the relationship in terms of increase of salivary oxytocin, the sense of competence of the carers, the ethical climate at the workplace and the quality of life of the resident perceived by the team? Participants will attend twenty-two sessions: two theoretical meetings on dementia and NPT; ten supervision meetings on the methodology for implementing non-pharmacological therapies based on discussions of cases; ten meetings on the exploration of the bodily aspects involved in the relationship through theatrical exercises. The same cases will be re-discussed in the light of the body-emotional approach. Researchers will compare the I-ACE group with an active control group and an usual care control group to see if there are improvements in term of professional caregivers burnout, their ability to understand and respond to the emotions of PWD, increase of their levels of salivary oxytocin, sense of competence of the carers, the ethical climate at the workplace and the quality of life of the resident perceived by the team.

Evaluating the Impact of Resource Navigators to Support LTC and RH Staff During and Beyond COVID-19

The goal of this clinical trial is to test how well resource navigators help long-term care and retirement home staff access the various health and wellness resources available to them and the effects that this has on their health and wellness overall. The main questions it aims to answer are: - How does one-on-one support from a resource navigator affect the wellness of long-term care and retirement home staff, including burnout, vaccination status, and COVID-19 infection? Researchers will compare participants in the intervention group (where participants are paired with a resource navigator) and the control group (where participants are not paired with a resource navigator) to see the impact access to a resource navigator has on wellness (primary outcome), burnout, knowledge of, access to and use of wellness resources, knowledge/alignment with provincial public health guidelines related to SARS-CoV-2 vaccine outcomes, SARS-CoV-2 infection, hospitalization, and death (secondary outcomes). Hypothesis: Researchers anticipate that those in the intervention group (have access to a resource navigator) will report a higher positive change in wellness between baseline and 6 months.

The goal of this 2-arm cluster randomized clinical trial is to test whether an evidence-based staff training and coaching model specifically designed as a response to legal system-involved youths' and frontline staff's mental health needs can improve the safety and suicide outcomes, mental health challenges, and wellness and facility climate for youth and staff in facilities assigned to the intervention condition. Staff in facilities assigned to the intervention are eligible to receive evidence-based programming in suicide detection and prevention (Shield of Care; SOC) and wellness skill-building (Skills for Life) through training and personalized coaching. Multiple training sessions will be offered to small groups of staff in-person in residential facilities and paired with personalized in-person and virtual coaching. Staff and youth in all facilities will be asked to complete periodic surveys assessing experiences in the facility, suicide and safety knowledge and risk, and their mental health and wellness. Researchers will compare outcomes of staff in youth in facilities assigned to the intervention compared to facilities in the training-as-usual condition.

Modified Interactive Screening Program Plus MINDBODYSTRONG: A Mental Health Resiliency Intervention for Nurses

The overall purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of an intervention designed to prevent nurse suicide. This randomized controlled trial will test the Healer Education Assessment and Referral (HEAR) program alone and the HEAR program combined with a program called MINDBODYSTRONG. The HEAR program is a method of screening to detect clinicians at moderate to high risk for suicide and referring them for treatment through an encrypted anonymous on-line platform. MINDBODYSTRONG© is an adaptation of a well-tested cognitive-behavioral skills building intervention (also known as COPE in the literature) that provides a cognitive-behavior theory-based approach to decrease depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation and improve healthy lifestyle beliefs and behaviors in at-risk populations. MINDBODYSTRONG© will involve eight self-paced computerized sessions designed specifically for nurses and clinicians. Nurses will be recruited nationally through the American Nurses Association.

PAPR: PAP + MBSR for Front-line Healthcare Provider COVID-19 Related Burnout

This project is an open-label randomized study looking at an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) curriculum vs. an 8-week MBSR curriculum + a group psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy intervention for frontline healthcare providers struggling with symptoms of depression and burnout associated with the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Following consenting and enrollment a total of 24 participants will be randomized to receive either an 8-week MBSR curriculum or the same 8-week MBSR curriculum + a group psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy intervention. The group psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy intervention will involve 3 group preparatory sessions (2 hours each), a single 8 hour group psilocybin administration session with a 1:1 therapist to participant ratio (25mg psilocybin dose), and 3 group integration sessions (2 hours each).

We would like to examine the migration from work trend and its socio-demographic causes in the light of COVID-19 pandemic among social care workers in Hungary. We would like to analyze the extent of stress and burnout at work after COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the resulting turnover intentions in Hungary among social care workers. Our goal is to validate on hungarian population the Turnover Intention Scale (TIS-6), to measure fluctuation and migration.

Assessing Burnout in Medical Students in Clerkship Years in United Arab Emirates

Burnout Syndrome is a medical condition caused by long-term job-related strain and is defined by presence of either one or more of the three states i.e. emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and lack of personal accomplishment. Burnout has been shown to cause decreased work output and mental well being of employees and increase errors at workplace. Burnout is observed in various lines of work and but has been found to be especially high among academic students undertaking professional studies as well as healthcare professionals. Medical students in their clerkship years undergo high stake exams, while adapting from classroom and simulation learning to participate in clinical care of patients in hospital care setting with no prior experience, which much them vulnerable to developing burnout during medical school. Burnout can effect medical students' well-being, which may continue into their internship and residency so greater emphasis in required on creating an awareness of burnout and identifying any factors associated to its development.
