The purpose of this study is to determine if E7389 is a safe and effective treatment for advanced/metastatic breast cancer.
This study is a Phase IV, prospective, nonrandomized, community-based study of clinical outcomes in patients with metastatic breast cancer treated with Herceptin and a taxane.
This is a non-randomized Phase 2 portion of a study testing ALIMTA and epirubicin in combination for locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer. Epirubicin is a well-established drug for the therapy of breast cancer. Both ALIMTA and epirubicin have been combined with other drugs but they have not yet been combined with each other. It is expected that the patient will benefit from the different mechanisms of action of the two drugs.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether maximal estrogen suppression achieved via the combination of an experimental drug, atamestane, plus an FDA-approved drug, toremifene (Fareston®), is more effective than another approved drug, letrozole (Femara®), in delaying the growth of breast cancer, and whether the side effects of the combined hormonal therapy are different from the side effects of letrozole.
This is an open label study where each patient will receive TOCOSOL(R) Paclitaxel 120mg/m2 every week for first line treatment of metastatic breast cancer. Patients will be followed to determine the efficacy of treatment (as measured by objective response rate), and the safety associated with weekly administration of TOCOSOL Paclitaxel.
This phase II trial is studying how well sorafenib works in treating patients with metastatic breast cancer. Sorafenib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking the enzymes necessary for their growth and by stopping blood flow to the tumor.
RATIONALE: Chemoprevention therapy is the use of certain drugs to try to prevent the development or recurrence of cancer. The use of tamoxifen may be effective in preventing breast cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying tamoxifen to see how well it works compared to placebo in preventing breast cancer in women who are at increased risk for the disease.
RATIONALE: Coenzyme Q10 is a vitamin that may be effective in relieving fatigue and depression in women who are undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying how well coenzyme Q10 works in relieving treatment-related fatigue in women with breast cancer.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving chemotherapy before surgery may shrink the tumor so that it can be removed. Combining paclitaxel with carboplatin may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving paclitaxel together with carboplatin works in treating women who are undergoing surgery for newly diagnosed, locally advanced breast cancer.
