Filter by:Breast cancer incidence is increasing in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and breast cancer mortality is high in these regions largely due to late stage diagnoses. This is true in the low-income East African country of Rwanda, where there are no national protocols in place to guide evaluation and referral of breast symptoms at primary health facilities. This study will use quantitative and qualitative methods to examine implementation of the Women's Cancer Early Detection Program (WCEDP) in order to understand optimal strategies to scale and sustain breast cancer early diagnosis in Rwanda and other limited-resource settings. The WCEDP is an adaptation of a prior intervention in Burera District, which focused on building community awareness of breast symptoms, improving clinicians' clinical breast assessment (CBA) skills, and implementing weekly breast clinics at the primary health care center and hospital levels. The Burera intervention was associated with improvements in health care workers' knowledge and skills, increases in care-seeking and receipt of care by women with breast symptoms, and an increase in early-stage breast cancer diagnoses.
The MINERVA Trial aims to evaluate safety, efficacy and quality of life (QoL) for the combination of Abemaciclib with an Aromatase Inhibitor or Fulvestrant in pre- and postmenopausal patients with metastatic hormone receptor positive HER2 negative breast cancer in the first line setting. Side effect monitoring and patient reported outcomes will be captured using the web- and app-based CANKADO digital health application. Via this user-friendly tool the patients can document their therapy side effects (e.g. diarrhea) and outcomes on a day-to-day basis. The capturing of side effects using the digital health application will be done additionally to the regular AE documentation. Furthermore, translational research objectives of this trial include the investigation of biomarkers (ct-DNA, germline DNA) to evaluate whether they can give insights into the reasons for response, intrinsic or acquired resistance to the combined endocrine
CIPN is induced by neurotoxic chemotherapeutic agents and manifests with sensory and/or motor deficits. It is associated with significant disability and poor recovery. Common symptoms include pain, altered sensation, reduced or absent reflexes, muscle weakness, reduced balance control and insecure gait. The purpose of the study is to compare effects of sensory vibrations training to conventional aerobic and strenght exercise on neurophatic symptoms related to chemotherapy treatment.
The GILUPI CellCollector® is the first in vivo CTC isolation product worldwide, which is CE approved. This is a prospective, multicenter study to evaluate the prognostic value of circulating tumor cells in breast cancer patients who completed surgery after neoadjuvant treatment.
This study aims to describe the different treatment time, treatment mode and clinical outcomes of pyrotinib maleate tablets combined with capecitabine in the treatment of patients with HER-2 positive advanced breast cancer with brain metastases.
The purpose of this Phase I study is to determine if the PARP inhibitor olaparib can be safely combined with navitoclax, an inhibitor of Bcl-2/Bcl-XL, in women with TNBC who have somatic or germline mutations in breast cancer gene one (BRCA1) and breast cancer gene two (BRCA2) BRCA1/2 or PALB2 and in women with recurrent HGSC who have progressed greater than 6 months since their last platinum containing chemotherapy. The trial is designed as an open- label multi-center Phase I interventional and translational study. It will identify the dose-limiting toxicities (DLTs), maximum tolerated dose (MTD) and RP2D of olaparib combined with navitoclax for study in Phase II. There is a plan for a follow on Phase II study depending on the results obtained during this Phase I trial. The rationale for this study is that for a subset of patients, olaparib, will increase tumor cell survival dependence on inhibition of cell death by Bcl 2/Bcl- XL. Thus, navitoclax will augment apoptosis induced by PARP inhibition with olaparib.
This study aims to investigate the efficacy and safety of utidelone in combination with bevacizumab in the treatment of advanced breast cancer with brain metastases, and thus provides a new systemic treatment strategy for those patients.
To evaluate the safety, tolerability and efficacy of SHR-A1811 in combination with pyrotinib or pertuzumab or adebrelimab or albumin-bound paclitaxel in patients with breast cancer.
In this ABLATIVE-2 trial, low-risk breast cancer patients will be treated with MRI-guided single dose preoperative partial breast radiotherapy to assess the rate of pathologic complete response after an interval of six to twelve months between radiotherapy and surgery. Response monitoring will be assessed using MRI and markers in blood and tumor tissue to enable prediction of pathologic response.
The medical information delivered to the patient before any surgery constitutes an essential and compulsory step during the initial management of the operated patient. There are different reasons for the quantity and quality of medical information retained by the patient. An internet platform with personalized and secure access has been developed. This platform contains, among other things, an explanatory video of breast surgery and allows the patient to have access to information on surgical management at any time. The investigators believe that unlimited access for the duration of the study to this platform could reduce the preoperative anxiety level of patients.
