NCT ID: NCT06274034 Recruiting - Breast Carcinoma Clinical Trials

MUSE-S Headband System for Improving Anxiety and Insomnia Among Breast Cancer Survivors

Start date: January 8, 2024
Phase: Early Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This early phase I trial evaluates the feasibility and impact of a meditation headband system (MUSE-S) for breast cancer survivors. Anxiety and insomnia are among the most common distresses in breast cancer survivors during and after chemotherapy, in part due to the side effects of chemotherapy, fear of cancer coming back, progression of the cancer, and uncertainty of the future. These distresses impair patients' well-being and quality of life (QOL) in general, and their cancer treatment adherence and effectiveness in particular. Meditation has been demonstrated to be an effective management tool of stress and anxiety and is given the highest level of evidence (grade A) in the systematic review-based guidelines by the Society of Integrative Medicine. The portable, interactive, electroencephalographic (EEG) Muse headband guided meditation has been shown to improve fatigue, QOL, and stress in newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. The MUSE-S Headband System may decrease anxiety and insomnia among breast cancer survivors.

Breast Cancer - Navigate - Prospective Cohort

Start date: May 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The Chrysalis Initiative (TCI) has with its technology partner Eversana/Intouch developed the BC-Navigate website/application to help guide women through care delivery during breast cancer treatment. TCI a nonprofit, breast cancer education and navigation organization is developing methods to address health inequities in cancer care delivery. TCI and its new academic/clinical partner, The Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, propose to apply TCI's developed patient navigation support techniques to enhance knowledge and self-advocacy among a cohort of Black and African American women, and other women of color (WOC), receiving care in Northwestern's breast cancer program. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to apply TCI's patient navigation-and-coaching program and its website/mobile app (Breast Cancer-Navigate) platform to improve timely initiation to patient adjuvant treatment among WOC breast cancer patients and evaluate the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of this approach.

Tart Cherry Juice as a Dietary Supplement for the Prevention of Paclitaxel-Induced Neuropathy

Start date: February 28, 2024
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is a single institution phase II randomized study evaluating the potential benefits of a supplement, tart cherry juice at high- versus low-doses, to prevent taxane induced peripheral neuropathy in breast and ovarian cancer patients undergoing paclitaxel chemotherapy. Eligible participants enrolled onto the study will be block randomized in a 1:1 allocation to either the tart cherry juice high-dose group (Arm 1) or the tart cherry juice low-dose group (Arm 2).

Patient Derived Organoid-guided Personalized Treatment Versus Treatment of Physician's Choice in Breast Cancer

Start date: January 15, 2024
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This multicenter, open-label, randomized phase III trial is designed to study the efficacy and safety of organoid-guided personalized treatment (OGPT)versus treatment of physician's choice (TPC) in previously treated refractory breast cancer.

NCT ID: NCT06268405 Recruiting - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Positron Emission Mammography and Liquid Biopsy in Women With High-risk Breast Screenings

Start date: September 21, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this pilot research study is to compare two experimental tests, namely Liquid Biopsy and Positron Emission Mammography (PEM) in women at high risk of breast cancer. The plan for this study is to evaluate if findings from Liquid Biopsy can be matched to images obtained by PEM. Liquid Biopsy is a blood test that can detect early tumours in patients with malignancies, while PEM is an imaging tool equipped with a high-resolution camera that uses an injected positron emitting isotope to locate breast tumours. Participation in this study entails a blood draw for Liquid Biopsy test and a PEM imaging exam before undergoing a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) - guided biopsy for a suspicious breast lesion. If correlations between paired samples are observed between imaging using PEM and the Liquid Biopsy data, further studies will be conducted to evaluate if these techniques can help refine screening investigations and ultimately reduce the unnecessary biopsies and anxiety in high-risk populations.
